Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.  I have been newly diagnosed with Peyronies (last thursday) and have been doing a lot of reading of course.  I am 47 and have been in excellent health my whole life.  do not smoke, no drugs ,  drink maybe a 6 pack (beer) a week.  Love sugar but not overweight, actually on the slim side.  To say the least I am very confuesed right now and have no idea where it came from.  No injury that I can remember so I believe I can rule that out.  i noticed a small like (lump) at the base about a month ago and thought  nothing of it.  Well it did not go away so I had it checked out by a urologist and he said it was Peyronies.  No cure and to just come back if it got worse.  Of course i did not know what if any questions to ask since i knew nothing of the disease.  I have been reading on this forum about certain drugs that are available to take and some vitamins but i have no idea where to start.  Is there a connection with the foods that I have eaten over time?  I want to quit  my cookies and Mt. Dew and take up fruits and veggies.  Sex life before has been fine.  i am married.  do I need to get my testosterone checked?  have a doctor give me a scan or ultrasound to see exactly how much damage there is?
I just want to ask you (the forum) for your suggestions.  Thanks in advance for any thoughts and info.

Hawk

Addams,

Welcome to the forum.  There is a ton of information here.  In addition to a supportive setting we have tried to make that information as accessible as possible.  Somehow many members are missing this post which answers most of your questions. MUST READ BEFORE YOU POST - Information for new members - Peyronies Society Forums

Diet, rest, and such life style changes will support treatment options and hopefully halt if not reverse this.  Your doctors unfortunately fits the uninformed mindset typical of most doctors when it comes to Peyronies Disease.

Study the post I linked to and familiarize yourself with the links within that post.  At that point we will have a good starting place for you to ask questions.

addams family,

I too was hit with Peyronie's at the age of 47. The pain started at the base and probably because I did nothing, it eventually extended all the way to the glan. So definitely start with the post to which Hawk referred.

As for your testosterone, I would not only get that checked but also getting a full blood panel can identify problems throughout your body. My testosterone was absurdly low when I got hit with Peyronie's, so yes, please get a full blood panel done including testosterone.

It might help if you are willing to share some of your symptoms. When did the Peyronies start, have you developed a curve, how much of one, other changes, etc.

Many of us here are more than willing to discuss/help.

And have the battle scars to prove it.

Peyronies started about 1 1/2 months ago.  Just noticeed something at the base that did not feel right.  No curve but do have a small hourglass indention when erect.  Harder to penetrate.  getting blood test tomorrow.   really no pain to speak of, just feels a little different.

My suggestion is to ask the doctor to prescribe you Pentox.
It will increase the blood flow into your penis and maybe penetration will be again like before.
In addition, Pentox can stop the progression of the Peyronies and even revers it if taken in early stages.

James, thanks.  I asked my regular doc for pentox and he checked the mayo clinic for the disease and it mentioned nothing about pentox so he said no.  got my blood taken today and will find out results next week.  i plan to go my to my uro and ask him.  i have an hour glass about in the middle, upper half not as rigid.  What if anything do other people use to get more rigid?
Does anyone else here feel like taking a baseball bat and beating the crap out of an inadimate object?  Very frustrating disease!!!

Very frustrating disease indeed, but treated early have good chances of stopping the progress and reversing it.
Regarding what other people are doing, taking Viagra/Cialis/Levitra before sex or/and as a part of daily treatment.
Pentox is helping me also with the erections.
It helped me a lot in the start of this disease, helps me now also, my mistake was not making any treatment for 3 years.

Addams,

Did you print off and read our 4 articles/studies on Pentox and take to your appointment.  I think they would be as convincing to your doctors as anything on the Mayo clinic site.  It may well make the difference between a squandered doctors visit and getting Pentox.  It has made the difference for others.

If not, I would strongly advise you do that before your uro visit.

Hawk, thanks.  I am planning on taking them to him.  What if any side effects have you or others had while taking Pentox?  Should I ask for any other medications?  Thanks again.

Regarding Pentox side effects, I am proposing you to read:

If you begin to have side effects with pentox lower the dose instead of three a day do two or one. When I first started to take pentox I was taking three three times a day now im only taking one a day and it just as good as when I was taking three.
