Hello to everybody, i was just surfing through the net, when i discovered some articles from different docs suggesting pelvic floor excercises to improve bloodflow to the penis and to improve erectionquality. I was wondering if anyone of you out there has some experiences with this stuff and if it could help dealing with Peyronies Disease. . Let me know Adam.

Hawk

It won't hurt.  You should never expect something as complex as the Peyronies issue to be controlled with such a basic concept however.  It is like trying to stimulate large biceps with warm showers  If you are on a proper, weight lifting, supplement, and rest, routine, then hot showers won't hurt but it is hardly the answer.

If all other things were equal, I don't think you would see much difference in a group that did pelvic exercises vs the one that did not do them.

I know what you mean.  Something the docs mentioned was quite interesting. They were reporting a study in which the group of the pelvic floor excercises did better than the group of cialis in improving ED..  The study was made by a german doc sommer. If the study is well done, It sounds as if it could really help in cases of ed-problems or at least is worth a trial

I have seen enough studies that I have become a skeptic.  They have to show me the study which I will examine using these guidelines.

Hi shrunkworks, sorry i can t find the study online. The article which i read hasn got a link. But if you are interested it could be sincerely requested at medical center uniklinik uke hamburg eppendorf. The doc was prof. dr. sommer. There are quite a few german websites abut pelvic floor exercises and the benefit to erection mechanism, so i think that it can t be total rubbish.

Hi Adam,

Yes Pelvic Floor Exercises can be a great addition. I was actually seeing a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor issues. Unfortunately it was not covered by my insurance and the fees were too much to continue however it was clear that myself, including many others I suspect, hold a lot of chronic tension in the pelvic floor muscles and this can greatly inhibit circulation. Doing deep breathing and yoga can all help release this tension over time as well as keeping a healthy lifestyle. I also would suggest going with your intuition on what feels right. In my case I can say it definitely helped blood flow which can only be a good thing. If you have any questions let me know, Chris

I know this thread is quite old but I figured the subject was the same so it made little sense to start a new one. I have long suspected that my Peyronies is linked in some way to the pelvic area but never quite worked out the connection or how to manage it.

Just before I got Peyronies I started to doing heavy exercise sessions of kettlebell swings using a 24 kilo weight that put a lot of pressure on the entire pelvic area, which lead me to think I was risking a hernia or groin strain at the time. Inflammation and pain has been a frequent aspect of my Peyronies from the start but from very early on I've found that inflammation or a hard flaccid state when sitting could often be reduced in a matter of seconds by simply lying down and raising my legs a few inches. Again that possibly points to a nerve or circulatory issue around the pelvis.

Fast forward a couple of years and I'm generally doing better. My curvature that was once around 80 degrees is now down to 20 or less and the huge scarring has almost entirely disappeared. The remaining inflammation and scarring I do have seems to be at the very base, extending from inside my body where it can't be easily felt. I put most of this improvement down to diet and avoiding further physical damage but it's an ongoing battle.

I get good nocturnal erections every night and I know they are long lasting because if I wake up in the morning they usually remain for several minutes without any kind of stimulation. I have no problem getting or maintaining an erection by watching porn, even without touching my penis if lying down or sitting but if I standup it literally starts to deflate in a few seconds and I was starting to think this was venous leakage caused by arterial damage but from the research I did tonight that seems unlikely since I'm not having problems unless I'm standing up.

I read the reports about men seeing improvements with erections doing pelvic floor exercises and I know that when I tried them a few times before getting Peyronies they definitely improved my erections but I'm really unsure in this instance if it would help or further provoke the Peyronies. There is a book called "heal pelvic pain" by Amy Stein that may be helpful but it never mentions erections in the description and I just wondered if anybody has any thoughts or ideas relating to the pelvis and treating Peyronies.

Due to the extreme angle of curvature I experienced previously and not wishing to provoke any injury now I haven't attempted sex for the best part of a year and I try to avoid masturbation or touching as much as possible so I can't rule that out either as a factor and perhaps the pelvic floor exercises would be useful. That book I mentioned above apparently talks about yoga and stretching exercises that help restore good health but I haven't read it or anything similar.

Good to hear from you ashtown and to read about your improvements.
To go down from 80 to 20 degree is amazing. Also your ED completely gone.
What is the treatment you are doing?

I'm only doing the same things I detailed in the thread at Progress following a change in approach - Peyronies Society Forums. Every day I eat ginger and drink vegetable juice etc but avoid any food with meat, sugar or additives etc. This seems to help shut down the chronic inflammation over time, allowing the body to heal.

I really don't want to give the impression that I am Peyronies free because that would be completely untrue, however I have seen significant reductions in scarring, inflammation and deformity that I mainly put down to changes in diet after stopping all prescribed medicines. Only time will tell how it progresses but I am sure I could do more to manage stress and sleep more etc that would no doubt help. Realistically though after such a bad case it was never likely to completely disappear in a week.

I would really like to understand what it is that is causing my erections to die when I stand up because I hope it is something I can improve myself, since I've really lost faith in doctors who have only ever made my condition worse. I'm starting to think now that it might just be owed to a pinched nerve or even a misalignment of the pelvis.

Yes, it can be a factor too.

Constant tension might lead to an inflammed pelvic floor.
It also prevents a good blood flow which is necessary so the nutrients and oxygen reach the penis.

I had a unbalanced pelvic floor and was very tense and I msure its a part of the condition. I also feel the tense more on the left side were also most of my plagues are.

Im more and and mroe convinced to get rid of peyronies you need be very healthy and fit in all aspects. Body mind nutrition. Surgery and injections might stop the sympton but dont address the underlying issue.

I tend to feel most tense strain on my right side where my scarring seems to be so I'm trying to do more research on this to find out what may be useful. From what I have read so far there are pelvic floor exercises that can strengthen the erection but there are also reverse kegals that relax the muscle and make it more flexible, which maybe what we actually need to do.

Something I realised as well last night is that problem with erections that suddenly die when I stand up only appeared a short while after I changed my office chair a few months back. It's an orthopedic design that has a raised centre on the seat and I wonder if this is putting some kind of constant pressure on the pelvic floor. I am in complete agreement with melting that an all round healthy body is the only way to properly address the problem of Peyronies.

Yes reverse kegels which basicly relax the whole pelvic floor and push the tense muscles to stretch.

I like to breath into my pelvic floor(all while breathing into the belly so the belly bulges).
I try to fill the whole pelvic floor with air so to speak. Like if there was a balloon.
Then you let the breath go and check if the muscles are now a bit more lose(repeat)

A good position is a relaxed squat where you push the breath to the floor. But be aware that this breath can make you leak gas or even more ;)

I encounter often that this forces tense muscles to relax. Or In doing this concious breath(standing or walking or sitting) you only at that point get aware that you were holding some muscles there.

When I do it for longer time with concentration my penis relaxes very nicely
The hard vein that got loose from a plague 2 weeks ago(after dmso treatment) is then starting to tingle which for me feels like its getting oxygen(just lively good feeling).

I think this is an important thing cause when you think about it. Imagine you hold you arm tense all the time. What may happen is that it gets less fresh blood.(not relaxed).
No fresh blood in the penis means more toxins and less body hormones(etc.) that can reach its place which means bad healing.
_____
Ashtown, yes like riding the bike it can cause problems(maybe venosu leakage). Change your position now and then or stand up walk a round. Also strong legs means strong blood flow and strong erections.(Squats)

I just wanted to add my two cents on this. When I got peyronies I was also having problems in my pelvic region mainly pain in my hips right near the hip flexors. I do IT work so I sit for long periods at work which have increased more so with the remote control applications and the ability to do everything from my desk and not have to get up and go help a user. I was battling that with peyronies. I started doing daily stretching for it which seemed to help some but it seemed I would feel like I was getting better at times than other times I felt like I was back to the normal pain I was having. I also noticed when I was having pain with my peyronies it was at its worse when sitting. Standing and moving generally made it feel better. So I started to think they are maybe linked. In my attempts to fight both I changed my diet trying many things first going vegan, doing all the juicing stuff, finally settling on a paleo style diet which my body seemed to feel the best on. Cutting out all the processed food made a big difference plus taking in quality organic and grass fed meats helped greatly. I also kept up with my stretching but also started forcing myself to stand most of the day while at work and move. I make it a point to walk around the office sometimes just to move. I started off with little things like putting the trash can out of reach as well as the phone so that when I needed them I have to get up or walk over to them. This has helped so much. I also found that from all the years of sitting my butt muscles were weak. I started exercising them which made a even bigger difference. I always did work out and did squats and figured that was enough but it wasn't I was finding after my life became more sedentary that squatting whether while working on in the gym or just to sit down on the toilet hurt my hips and would make my peyronies flair up. But since changing diet and stretching the area and adding isolation exercises the whole area just feels so much better.  I am almost peyronies free. Thanks to ashtown I added ginger to my diet as well and that with all the other things I mentioned I am pain free for peyronies and almost lump free. They continue to shrink just at a slow pace but shrinking none the less. My hips are a on going battle. I have to really keep up with moving and stretching and working my butt muscles more. But they are greatly improved as well. People weren't made to eat all the processed crap that's out today nor were we made to sit on our butts all day long. We need to get back to what we were made for moving and doing physical things and eating natural foods and our bodies will take care of us.

rd,

Would you mind explaining some of the isolation exercises you are doing?

I started to have pelvic floor pain a year to a year and a half before developing Peyronie's Disease.

NeoV

My Peyronie's has always come with pelvic pain. It's things like this that just make me doubt everything I know about the disease.

But in the end, it doesn't matter. It is clear in my case and in other's that pelvic floor exercises do help. Squatting and stretching reduce pain and make my penis hang straighter and fuller. Sometimes stretching accompanied with massage rids of of post ejaculatory bending. I think it has serious merit, and while pelvic floor problems may not be the cause of the disease, there's something really important here that we all should try to address.

rd

@Douglas Hall

Since my pain was in the hip flexor region I would stretch by doing or doing the splits as much as I could in the same position I also started stretching my ham strings out as well just trying to make sure everything is healthy and flexible. What made the most difference for me was actually strengthening my butt muscles. It helped even more than stretching. My problem is because I sat a lot at work which I think made my butt muscles really weak which was causing imbalances in my hips and thus pain. I work out regularly and thought I was doing enough with having a leg work out 1 hour a week. That was not enough in my case. I don't work out more but I do make it a habit of standing 3/4's of the day and walking around the office even if for no reason at all. I also added some isolation exercises for my butt muscles as well to speed up the strengthening process.

LMP

Maybe not for all but for me CPPS/hard flaccid/pelvic floor dysfunction call it what you want caused my Peyronies. I'm addressing this now and will post soon with an update.

Chronic stress is the root of all of this for me. Look into TRE (Trauma Release Exercise).  I'll post soon with an update but yes, look at your pelvic floor.

@rd, @lmp,

Thank you for the info.

im going to start doing these almost everyday along with squats used to do them in school for weight lifting think they called them lunges or somtehing like that in my class

I also noticed when I was having pain with my peyronies it was at its worse when sitting. Standing and moving generally made it feel better.

I have something similar to this.

1. Day time is more painful than night.

2. Wearing no underwear is comfortable than wearing it.  Suddenly pain goes away at some particular position of my tool!
Please have your 2 cents if any one can explain why?

Best regards,

Chand

Sorry to bump an oldish thread, but I did just come across the study that I assume the original poster was talking about:

I too have a lot of tension in my pelvic floor, I believe it has been caused with years of clenching my pc muscles whilst edging, masturbating and sex. this became a subconscious contraction of the muscles so I never knew any different and thought that the muscles to constantly contract was normal. erections were very frequent and constantly solid due to such strong muscles from years of strengthening them, until the muscles could take no more tension. now my erections are purely from blood flow, i am trying to refrain from using my pelvic floor muscles in anyway, although sometimes they do decided to contract themselves, this has left my erection a lot less solid, but i assume more natural?

it wasn't until I started loosing muscle control with erections (kegels) I noticed something wasn't right. I also developed the hard flaccid symptom, where I believe the muscles are cramped. on Monday I have my scan followed by my results on Wednesday to identify the plaque on my penis (could be peyronies or a damaged vein, which I believe either could possibly be caused by pelvic floor tension).

my urologist could not help me with a diagnosis on the pelvic floor, but did mention another one of his patients, a couple of years older than me (I am 23), had a very similar story, and that he is using biofeedback to help retrain his pelvic floor to gain control of his erections again (I believe he was also suffering from a form of ED).

I hope his could be of some help.

Neov,

I did the stretches from your video and I hurt myself doing it, so be careful with it. I did hurt on the perineum area, and I am going now to a pelvic floor specialist in the bay area to fix it. SHe recommended reverse kegels and a tenis ball to massage my buttocks.

NeoV

Wow Krazylord, I'm really sorry to hear about that. I guess we should tell Elliot himself! I really hope you can fix it.

Reverse kegels are great, I love them especially in the shower while squatting.

krazylord

Not a problem NeoV, just wanted to let you know. How do we tell Elliot? Do you now him? Do you mean writing comment in the video?

How many reverse kegels do you do daily, if u do?

Peace.

Emma Watson

Several factors such as age, pregnancy, childbirth, abdominal surgery, and weight can weaken the pelvic floor muscles causing urinary incontinence.  It can be embarrassing when you cannot control your bladder during when sneezing, coughing or laughing out loud. In order to prevent this you will need to strengthen your pelvic muscles. Kegel exercises are really helpful in regaining your pelvic floor strength.

krazylord

There is a clinical trial done by privategym.com (Admin please, remove it if you consider it not adequate) about pelvic floor exercises. You guys can check it out on their website.
