It's garbage. If those methods worked, doctors would know about them and tell you them for free.

I agree.  ANYTHING that promises an easy cure is rubish.  It is ever so easy to dress up a web site to be larger than life and offer magical non-existant cures to unsuspecting patients.  What ever you do, don't throw your money away by doing business with these scoundrels.  Peyonie's patients from around the world congregate here and would be shouting from the housetops to promote any treatment that actually worked effectively.  AND ... you are not seeing that which is clear evidence that it simply doesn't exist except in the figment of the imagination of the snake oil salesman.

Good point George. That being said, do you think I should just stop with my transdermal 15% verapamil gel? You spend about 20 min/day applying it and not a single post on this forum reports improvements.

NDfan,  that is something you have to figure out.  It is probably really not doing any harm other than taking  your time and perhaps sidetracking you as far as other more effective treatments are concerned.  But with the lack of positive feedback on this forum, I would say it is an extreme long shot.  I would hope that you are also including some treatments that have been recognized around here as being effective in addtion to the TV.  - George

Is there a consolidated list somewhere for the non-surgical treatments that have shown results? I've done a fair amount of reading these threads - pentox and VED come to mind, as well as traction devices. If there isn't a list, do you think it would be worth creating? Thanks.

The top of the list around here is Pentox, CoQ10, and VED.  Both Pentox and CoQ10 have INDEPENDENT research behind them.  Pentox has far more research supporting it than CoQ10.  And the leading Peyonie's specialist is now recommending combining Pentox with VED.  - George

To add to Georges list is Acetyl-L-Carnitine.

I think someone a few weeks ago had an appointment with Dr. Liu (sp?)who told him that VED was risky without using Pentox.  His thinking was that the stretching from the VED may cause micro tears streatching the plack and tissue adjacent to it may heal over with more plack.
It sounds good in theory.  I would think Co-Q10 and A-L-C may do the same but not as proficiently as Pentox.

I will also add that having nocternal or morning erections helps with more blood flow into the penis to speed healing.

These web sites and books with remarkable solutions are tempting but resist the urge.  I have been taken by a few in my early days with this condition.  Learn from the history of others.  There may be some other natural treatments out there but they have yet to be discovered.  I know there was one person here seeing a Chinease doctor who gave him energy treatments and chinese herbs.  It would be interesting to know how he made out.  I remember your handle but if you are still around please check in.

Certainly there is some research behind ALC for Peyronie's.  But Pentox and CoQ10 are the top two.  The CoQ10 Peyronie's study is much more impressive than the ALC study.  CoQ10 also has research behind it showing it can repair a damaged heart.  I used both ALC and CoQ10 and found CoQ10 to be far more effective in my experience.  But yes, ALC is helpful in treating Peyonie's and would be part of a much longer list including Ciallis and a few others.  - George

From Wikipedia

Quote
ALCAR has been shown to be more effective than tamoxifen in improving the curvature and reducing the pain and plaque sizes for men who sought treatment for their Peyronie's disease early and having low curvature deformities.   ALCAR has also been shown to improve insulin response  and is proved to have a positive effect on various muscle diseases as well as heart conditions.

Basically, ALC is an antioxidant and as such it relieves inflammation that fuels Peyronie's.

Quote
CoQ10 is fat-soluble and is therefore mobile in cellular membranes; it plays a unique role in the electron transport chain (ETC). In the inner mitochondrial membrane, electrons from NADH and succinate pass through the ETC to the oxygen, which is then reduced to water. The transfer of electrons through ETC results in the pumping of H+ across the membrane creating a proton gradient across the membrane, which is used by ATP synthase (located on the membrane) to generate ATP. CoQ10 functions as an electron carrier from enzyme complex I and enzyme complex II to complex III in this process. This is crucial in the process, since no other molecule can perform this function. Thus, CoQ10 functions in every cell of the body to synthesize energy.

CoQ10 is essential for mitochondrial health and in this way it also relieves inflammation that is behind Peyronie's.

Peyronie's is an inflammatory disease and treating it involves 1) removal as much as possible of inflammatory factors and 2) adding factors like ALC, CoQ10 and/or Pentox that suppress inflammation.

Thank you George this is very helpful.   I was having some problems taking 500mg of ALC, but I ordered a 250mg version, so I think I will tolerate that better.

The first time I took 500 mg. of ALCAR, my heart started racing. After that, I got used to it so that I take 2 grams per day.

I recommend the powder from PrimaForce. Excellent quality.

The only side effect I got from ALC was trouble sleeping.  If I took it too late in the day it would impact my sleep.
I now take it no later than 2pm.
Good quality sleep is critical for any kind of healing.
This sounds obvious but you would be surprised at how many people are burning the candle at both ends and don't think much of it.

I get both the racing heart and insomnia from a 500mg pill taken in the morning !   My system is more sensitive than most peoples.   It is bad because I get lots of side effects, but good because the meds tend to be very effective at low dose.   I will see how things go at 250mg. thanks.

Gave up on treatment
« Reply #15 on: January 26, 2013, 08:31:07 PM »

Stopped topical verapamil after a week since all the posts say it doesn't work. I'm only 29 years old so I'm hoping I'll somehow bounce back. At this point I'd rather deal with what I have than pump with a VED every day or wear a traction device. Maybe at most I'll try pentox but... Holding out for something with real results. It's exhausting reading about all the different unsuccessful non surgical treatments on this site.

Try Pentox?!! Bro, are you joking? You should already be on it. I'm begging you not to give up and get on Pentox, Citrulline Malate, and 5 mg. Cialis. Please don't waste another minute.

As Matt suggested I would at least give pentox a shot.  Although it may not fix things completely, it could make and improvement or at least prevent further scarring and deformity.  Unfortunately Peyronies Disease tends to get worse over time, not better, especially during the first 2 years.  So doing nothing now might be detrimental to your long term outlook.   There are many guys here who wish they found this site sooner, so consider yourself fortunate in that respect.

NDfan,

I got this at 29 (now 33) as well. Pentox was hugely helpful for me in getting rid of pain, shrinking plaque size and restoring some loss of size. I think as younger guys, pentox can really give us a boost in the healing process. I urge you to give pentox a try and keep fighting this disease any way you can. This is like a sports injury: it takes months and months to see improvement.

Also, if you're not doing so already, focus on getting yourself in the best shape possible. Run, bike, swim, lift weights, hike do whatever you like doing to get as healthy and strong as possible. Exercise keeps your whole body strong and helps fight the depression that can creep in with this disease.

Never give up.

Thanks for the advice. Nice to hear from someone with the same age situation. I do home DVD workouts (by Shaun T if you've heard of him) and I aim for 5 days a week. I drink but mainly on the weekends and it's not nearly as crazy as it used to be. I don't smoke at all. Hopefully that means I'm reaonsably healthy.

What other strategies did you try besides pentox that seemed helpful? As for symptoms, I have a plaque (almond size) near the head that forces a slight upward bend. But the main deformity is this rock hard plaque (which I can't find while flaccid) I get at the base that sends me in a 45 degree left turn. However, it can easily be pushed straight for intercourse. No idea if that's a severe or pretty normal case. That's why I went into detail.

I am on Pentox and seemed to help with the pain at first but now over a month into it and the pain seems to be coming back.  Are we sure Pentox works?  I am also on L-Argintine and Vit E?  Is that a normal cocktail of drugs?

I am sure that Pentox is working, bets if combined with low dose Cialis.
I don't think L-Arginine is doing something in the long range, I was replacing it with low dose Cialis. (expressing my opinion)
How much Pentox a day you are taking?
Vitamin E will not make damage, I am not sure if it helps.
