One year update after significant improvement
« on: December 02, 2012, 07:08:24 PM »

Hey all,

Brief update on my condition.  It's been about a year since I noticed significant improvement in a left side dent and I have not had any worsening or new deformities.  Prior to my left side dent, I had two other deformities which resolved "back to normal" before the manifestation of this left side dent, where the left side dent progressed to a pretty unsightly "scoop."

You can read my previous posts where I noted observations in the left side dent's progression and subsequent near resolution, where most of the resolution occurred over a 6 week period, about a year and a half after the left side dent made its first appearance.

So, so far so good.

However, several months ago I faced-up to a personal "side-effect" I attribute mainly to my Peyronies Disease condition.  I faced-up to the fact that I had become addicted to pornography.  I'm single, but research shows that men of all status' suffer from this addiction.

I "attribute" the effect to Peyronies Disease only because I used the condition as an excuse to use pornography to help me become erect and make observations of my condition.  When I was initially diagnosed in early 2009, I went into a pretty deep depression as many here can relate to.  I couldn't get erect if my life depended on it.  So, after the initially shock wore off, I started resorting to pornography to "help" me.

Anyway, there is a ton of research available today on the negative, physical side-effects of pornography.  From what I learned, the only way to beat this addiction (no pun intended!) is to completely and absolutely remove it from your life, cold turkey at that.  That's what I did and continue to do.  The benefits of removing this type of stimulation from my life has been amazing, in a good way.

So, that's my update.  I am blessed that my Peyronies Disease deformities came and went, where the only noticeable deformity is a very slight, very smooth "dent" on the left side.  But, it's definitely not a dent, I just can't think of a good word because it's really not apparent!  I would use the word curve, but I have no curve.  I'd say I have about a 90% resolution of the left side dent, which came about a year ago and has remained in that state.

New members/guests can check my prior posts for my treatment.  Briefly, my treatment was conservative.  I followed the advice on the forum and used the VED on a daily basis for about two years, maybe more, before I went to a maintenance schedule.  Currently, I use the VED about once per week.  Besided the VED, I did the PAV cocktail.  However, I stopped the Pentox over a year ago (after two years of usage).  I take about 5 mg of Cialis once per week, where I used to take it on a daily basis.  I'm still continuing take 2 g of L-Arginine on a daily basis.

Keep the faith guys!

Soon after I was self/officially diagnosed, I started with Viagra (5mg- cut 20 mg pill) and L-Arinine (3g) on a daily basis with Pentox added about 6 weeks later.

I think I switched to Cialis pretty soon thereafter, maybe a couple of months or so.  I can't remember how long I used Cialis on a daily basis, but it was for a while.  Then, I started to take breaks in my Cialis use, not for any objectively based reasons, but because I subjectively didn't want to constantly be digesting Erectile Dysfunction medication.  I saw where another user, I think Tim468, said he take breaks in its use for this line of reasoning, that's where I got the idea to take some breaks in the Cialis action.  He has posted a lot of useful information about Cialis type drugs.

Now I just use a low dose once per week.

That is great news :) It's a shame there is so little improvement stories in this board.

Can you tell me, how bad was your situation as it's worst? How muche curve, narrowing, shrinkage..? Did you get any lost size back if you did lost any?

What do you think is the main reason for your great improvement, how do you feel it? VED? Pentox?

Phase1 -

I think the last deformity I had, the left side dent, was the most "unsightly."  Looked like a scoop of it had been removed.

I never observed any size loss in regard to length and girth.  I did take measurements on a consistent basis.

Although I saw a very compentent uro, IMO, I never had the utltrasound, despite my uro's suggestion to do so.  But, I know an ultrasound image helps a uro to understand what is going on, provides a baseline, etc..  So, don't necessarily folllow my actions w/ regard to ultrasound.  Sounds like a good thing to do, I just chose not to.

In regard to what "caused" improvement, I can only describe my observations and actions.  Many veterans of this forum understand that it's difficult to definitively state a cause and effect relationship based on one's own experience.

But, with the understanding that I have a super limited knowledge of the human body, it seems to me that the VED probably mitigated and ultimately improved my physical situation.

I know for sure this: The VED and the forum veterans definitley helped my mental state!

Also, per Pentox and Vigara-type drugs, I believe research indicates these drugs may have helped too.  But, who knows.

Yes you can never know, I just ment that perhaps you have your own feeling if some of those treatments felt like it's having a strongest effect.

So you did not have an curve, pain or other deformity than dents, right?  It sounds to me like a pretty mild case of Peyronie, perhaps that helps as it's easier to recover. I'm happy for you. :)

I'm feeling that Cialis certainly has the biggest immediate effect on this thing, but that's obvious as that is it's job. (To improve erections etc. quickly)

I have took Cialis every now and then small doses like 1,25 - 2,5mg's during past few weeks, and it always makes the flaccid state a lot bigger, and the penis feels more spongy because it has way more blood in it. But of course that is only temporary so you can't call that an improvement.

I too find that Cialis works extremely long, a single 2,5mg dose has significant effect on me after 2 or even 3 days! So I'm considering to take Cialis on regular basis like 2,5mg's every other day and give it some time, perhaps a course of 1 month or more to see if it makes any permanent benefits.

thank you skunk. I may up my dose of cialis to 5mg every other day, instead of every third day, given the study findings.

Septal Peyronie's refers to scar tissue on the tunica that covers where the two corpora cavernosa (erectile tissues) meet. The septum is the separation between the two corpora, just like the septum in your nose that separates your nostrils. If you were looking at the penis straight on, this area would look like where the top line and vertical line of the letter "T" meet up.

This is where most of my scar tissue is and it tends to cause hourglassing deformity rather than curvature.

Best,

Oh, I see. I believe I have some of that as well. My peyronies has ruined my left chamber but I also have hard area all the way on the top side of the penis, and so I believe it's located in the between as well (septal). That makes the shaft tighter and more narrow.

Does anyone have more specific copy of that study, it doesn't say how much the scar improved or if it resolved totally?

It's weird how they tested so positive results, but then again I believe almost every guy in this forum is taking Cialis on regular basis, and yet don't see any huge results resolving the scar.

To answer that point, someone would need to find the full study and look at the exclusion criteria, which almost certainly excludes people who showed any sort of insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome in their pre trial blood tests.

Thank you for sharing. I am almost a year into this and I have not done VED yet. Is it too soon to start or should I have started sooner? I've been afraid to make the condition worse.
