Sadboy,
This topic has come up in the past. We don't maintain a library of pictures or examples. We did recently start a sub thread in the surgery board that allows before and after surgery pictures. Our main concern is to avoid Web Crawlers and Search Engines from associating our forum with porn sites.

went to my GP today trying to get a perscription for Pentox(Trental here in Australia). He looked up the drug on the computer and could find no info that Pentox treats peyronies. Tried to show him some case studies from Dr. Lue. but he didn't even want to look at them. So no perscription :( I'm pretty much 99% certain that my urologist is going to say the same. why is this is Pentox harmfull in any way it's got me confused as alot of members are on the drug on this forum :( I live in Adelaide Australia wondering if any one knows of any specialists that would perscribe Pentox. Does anyone have any other ideas how I could get a perscription?

You generally have to obtain prescriptions for Pentox from Peyronie's specialists.  Most general urologists refuse to prescribe it.  If you look under the "Urologists and other doctors" topic you will find Australia related subtopics.  There you will find references to doctors that prescribe Pentox in Australia.  - George

Thanks goerge. Don't think i'm going to be able to get a script for pentox :( Is it still worth adding coq10 to my treatment? my treatment is 500micrograms of colchicine and a once a day mens multivitamin.

George999

By all means, if you can get CoQ10, it is likely to be much more effective than colchicine.  - George

still trying to get my hands on some Pentox. looks like the closest doctor is Dr. Chris McMahon but would be an expensive option as he is on the otherside of the country(Australia) don't think I should go back to my original urologist as he only perscribed me colchicine and a multivitamin. Maybe I should try another urologist or am I wasting my time? I was maybe thinking of trying a sexual health physician locally what are your thoughts?

Sadboy,

There is no real way for you to know in advance what a doctor is likely to prescribe unless others on the forum have been there.  You should by all means be pro-active however and advocate for Pentox by first informing yourself then offering your doctor some information.  Print the 4 studies off on Pentox that are found on our Resource Library board.  Read them over a couple times and take them to your doctor.  State "here are some very interesting papers on the success of Pentox in treating Peyronies Disease.  They come from several urologists specializing in Peyronies Disease and even include some foreign trials".

If he balks, I would say," look doc, I really want to give this a shot just like I am sure you would if it was your penis on the line" (assuming he has one).  "It is not likely to do harm.  I will take accurate objective measurements of angle, length, circumference, and erection and I will keep you closely informed".

Until you do that, you have not done your job.  If he does not at least strongly consider the pentox studies then you can write that doctor off.

I second Hawk's advice AND IF you have access to sexual health docs locally, I would guess that they would be far more open to cutting edge Peyronie's treatments than general urologists.  General urologists are usually focused on the "plumbing".  If the plumbing works OK, all the rest of it is unnecessary window dressing, so, sadly, all too many of them really don't care about your "sexual function".  On the other hand, in the case of a local sexual health physician, you can not only provide them with copies of the studies, you can also suggest they contact Dr McMahon regarding those studies as he is pretty much THE acknowledged sexual health expert in Australia and any local practitioner would be quite likely to even know him personally.  - George

Thanks Hawk and George on your replies much appreciated. I will book in an appointment with the sexual health physician. I'm just a little worried he's going to say don't be silly and your worrying to much because my condition is stable(no real change since my accident 8 months ago) and there is no real bend in my penis and that he won't perscribe it.
