Hi guys

I've posted a link below for a report with the ceo of auxilium talking about when xiaflex is likely to be on the shelves - it's a few months old so you may have seen it or know the info already.

We're looking at around 9 months max - second half of 2013 - maybe sooner, as it's a derivative of the equivalent hand disease dup.. and trials have already been done for that etc.

What I thought was also interesting is that he mentions the cost of one vial being around $3250 I think he says, and that 5 per cent of men have Peyronies Disease. So if there are around 150 million men in the US alone - 5 % is $7.5 million.

Do the maths.

That's around 24 billion dollars (I think I've got this right) and that's just from US sales - worldwide will increase it dramatically. I know these figures are simplistic but they show what a potentially huge money making opportunity this is for the company. This means that they will do anything to get this to market asap - which of course is good for us if the results of trials are to be believed.

I wonder if their share price will go ballistic too - maybe a way of us making some money by investing in Aux - at least maybe to pay off everything we've spent on combatting this crazy condition.

A lateral thought process i know - I'm trying to find some positives.

This is all about making $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ........ nothing else!
I participated in the phase 3 trial and had a 70° to start with and after 8 injections the doc measured 60° --- so what???

so does it work or not...it seems like the ceo was confident of its success plus there are stories here of its success.....
so perhaps you need 1 or 2 more injections to really kick it in....

need some hope:)

the drug has a half-life of ~24hours and will impact/dissolve the plaque/scar-tissue within a distance of 1-2 mm.  Will this be the solution to Peyronies Disease? Maybe if you have no more plaque than half a pinky-finger-nail.

Hey - I'm no expert but I'm wondering if that's the case, and your plaque is much bigger - do you not just go back and get more injections to cover the larger plaque area?.

Regarding xiaflex only having helped 10 percent of curvature, I'm thinking well if xiaflex helps with 10 perent, VED maybe another 10 percent, maybe verapamil another 10 percent - that's already a 30 percent correction ? or am i looking at this wrong?

this goes down to the skill of the doctor, yes I read 2mm somewhere, so with a fanning action with the needle you could effectively treat 4mm circle. So if you had a 3cm wide plaque the 8 injections could do it, as long as the same spot wasn't being injected twice.

Unless insurance covers it, that price will put it out of reach of most. Insurance probably won't cover it.

Plus so far it is not looking like a miracle cure at all.
This is an emotionally destructive condition, we all have it, let's be nice to each other.

We need to wait and to see the publication of Auxilium final results report. If it is like what is publishes already, it depends in my opinion (as I have expressed it long time ago) on the doctor skills.
As I also mentioned before, if we was able to get the results filtered as per doctors success we will find out that doctors with big improvements of the Xiaflex group have also big success with the placebo group. (again, my opinion).
And is not just the injection. Is also the stretching (very painfull as per the reports on the forum) whit the popping that gives the final good results.

Sorry for the somehow pessimistic post, just my opinion and I may be completely WRONG :(

Interesting thought process James regarding doctor injecting technique and the placebo being just as effective if injected in the same way - I wonder if there would ever be a way of getting hold of the statistics placebo vs xiaflex and success rate from INDIVIDUAL DOCTORS in order to assess?

I however would have thought that there would be a fairly uniform method of application - I'm no expert, but I thought the doctors would have a fairly similar way of administering the injection - wouldn't Auxhilium ask that be the case in order to keep results consistent?

Regarding the stretching - there seems to be so much controversy as to whether or not that helps or hinders - and indeed if it does help I'm certain the softening / break up of the plaque whether via xiaflex or placebo would be a reason behind that success.

What do you mean by 'popping'?

If you will read the posts in the topics regarding Xiaflex and especially the bellow links, the "popping" and other stretching related
noises will be more clear than my explanation because they are from the people that were in the Xiaflex trial.
