Just developed the nightmare and need a way out!
« on: October 20, 2012, 11:39:06 AM »

This is my first time to open up on this site, and hopefully this will be a positive first step in the right direction. First realized I have peyronies about eight weeks ago when when my morning boner looked like a boomerang. Since then have been going through all the emotional stress that is associated with this problem. I have already seen my primary care physician and a urologist, which has gotten me no where. The primary care Doc said this is a surgical problem and the urologist said he has not had to do surgery for peyronies in ten years, since he started using glucosamine chondroitin to treat it. So this is all he prescribed to me. I have read that glucosamine chondroitin may be associated with a cause for development of this disease. I now have a appointment with another urologist for a second opinion. In the mean time I have been researching on the internet for some way to treat this successfully. Have located a site called Sexually Healthy Man. the protocol for treatment consisted of three parts: 1. traction device, 2. nutritional- Serrapetase, Nattokinase, omega 3 fish oil, and Acetal L-Carnitine 3. topical potassium iodide oil, DMSO, and vitamin E. The developer of the site stated he successfully treated his 90 degree bend using this protocol. My question is has there been a positive tract record with this treatment?
By the way name I am using for this site, Redwood, is to remind me of something straight and tall!

First, I can assure you of two things.  One man's opinion on some other site does not begin to compare with several hundred of men's opinions on this site.  The other thing is that you can be assured that what you get here is 100% legitimate and we are not selling or pushing anything.  He may be routing you to a specific traction device brand or be pushing Serrapetase, Nattokinase which I personally think is useless.

Having said that, some of what he said has value (traction, and ALC)  The fish oil and vitamin E can't hurt and could be positive if taken in moderation but its actual use in treating Peyronies Disease is not supported.  Serrapetase, Nattokinase is very expensive and a total waste of time in my opinion.  DMSO is very questionable, and I have no clue about potassium iodide.  You are the 2nd person to read that site and mention it.  I know of Absolutely NO studies, trials, or even rational explanation as to why this would work.  Playing with DMSO and compounds you do not understand is like filling a syringe and injecting questionable substances from around the house into your penis.  It is crazy and irresponsible.

As far as your uro and glucosamine chondroitin is concerned, I have never heard that one either and there is not much we don't hear on this site.  I would ask him for details of how he came to offer such advice and if he has data on the specific results in response rate, length of time, curve correction, etc.  If he found an effective treatment for Peyronies Disease surely he has documented it and shared it with other doctors.  Not only would it be his ticket to prestige and fame but to helping millions of men.

In my view, if a doctor or patient does at least know about Pentox, as part of a treatment protocol they are demonstrating their lack of knowledge.

I agree with Hawk 100% because I learned very carefully the site you are mentioning.
I would add just a small example:
The site you are mentioning promoting a specific traction device and he is completely against VED.
His explanations guiding to the traction device.
From reading the forum, far more people had success with VED than traction, it is also much easier to implement a daily routine.

My treatment includes Pentox, Acetil L-Carnitine, Ubiquinol, L-Arginine, low dose Cialis and VED. Talk with the second uro on the subject.

I must chide right in with the other guys. All of us here are Peyronies Disease victims. No one here will steer you toward any self serving chemical or device. We all have opinions and we will express them. It seems that a general conclusion among the members for treatment is:
Pentox, Cialis, CoQ10( if you are over 40, Ubiquinol), Acetyl L Carnitine, LArginine, and either traction or VED. The majority lean toward the VED.
Surgery is the very, very last thing to consider. This ailment takes a great deal of time and effort to combat. I say combat because you will probably never cure it. You can only make it tolerable. That is a win. Spend your time reading on this forum. Study it. Try the remedies. Many guys here have some great success stories!

You can take all drugs or try all treatments, but without a right diet will be hard to have real improvments.

I would have to agree with that statement to a certain degree. It is essential that you get your overall health in good shape in order for chemicals and physical therapy to benefit you the most. I almost said that, but my finger hit the send button first. Thank you, dio, for stating the over looked. The drugs and therapy will help in any event, but common sense says we should give them the best opportunity we can. In addition to the drugs and therapy, I have begun to lose some of my beer gut. I am eating more salad. I watch my blood sugar. My one holdout is, I am not going to walk when I have a perfectly good pickup truck to ride in!

The only difference is that I don't have a good pickup truck, I have a good small minibus with 9 seats. :)

But seriously, I would advice both of us to sometimes take a walk also. It will help with the general health and feeling.

I have only been here for a month or so but I can say you are in the right place my friend. Peronies is a terrible disorder as much for the impact it has on us mentaly as for what it can do to your body. I looked for answers everywhere much like you when I first realized I had a problem. This is the only place I found support and info without commercial bias. I went from panic and deppression to hopefulness after finding this site. Hit this thing hard and right away and you have a good chance of controling the progression of this disorder. I use pentox, horny goat weed, alcar, arginine, ubiquinol, topical vitamin E and VED as well as exercise and healthy diet. I cant recommend  the VED strongly enough. It minimizes loss of size, helps with blood flow and "trains and minimizes curvature".
