Hi, I'm a healthy 42 year old, with no history of E.D.  I don't want to make this too long, but here goes. About 7 months ago I was engaged in sex with my girlfriend. She was in my lap and I was seated in an office chair. She basically went up too high and came down on my erection with her pelvic bone. My penis folded and there was a crunching/snapping noise with pain that I could compare to having a door slammed on my hard penis. By morning it looked like an eggplant, so I went to the hospital. The urologist there told me the only definitive way to tell if internal damage has occurred is if he cut the skin open and peeled it down. I eventually consented to the surgery, which I now regret. He said he found no internal damage and I was discharged the next day. I went back to see him once afterwards and he said I'd be fine and not to have sex for 6 or 8 weeks. I saw a different urologist at the Cleveland Clinic in Feb and he gave me viagra which doesn't improve my erections and gives me a headache.
At this point, I seem to be having every possible erectile complication. Horrible/semi hard erections, significant reduction in size/length, slight bend to the right near the base, painful erections (especially along the left side of the shaft), multiple hardened lumps about the size of a small bean or pea towards the incision at top, pain after I ejaculate near hard lumps. My erections are very weak and I don't feel confident having sex and haven't tried since the injury happened. it feels segmented when I try to masturbate and looks/feels nothing like it did for 30yrs, which is really difficult to accept. There seems to be a a lot of scar tissue along and around the shaft that never softens. Sexual contact is something that just frustrates me now. My drive is almost non existent at this point and I know I'm depressed. This has become an enormous emotional strain. Before this injury I had the same function I had at 25.  What used to be a source of confidence, pride and pleasure is now just a source of frustration and sometimes anger.
Urologists don't really seem to understand this injury. I'm hoping to find some relevant info or healing time for this injury. Does it sound like I have Peyronies? Is this something that may mend with more time?
I greatly appreciate any info. Thanks in advance...

I suppose you was preferring not to be here, but if you are here already welcome to the forum.
Sorry to read your story mainly because the doctors you met are really not qualified. It first time for me to hear about a doctor that is making a surgery to give a diagnosis regarding fractured penis! Just an other doctors horror story as many of us had.

You have to see urgently a Peyronies specialist to begin treatment also for your ED also for the pain, bend and lumps.
Read the forum before you see a Peyronies specialist, more knowledge you have more easy to get a treatment that many of us are doing. Medications and supplements, Pentox, L-Arginine, Ubiquinol, low dose Cialis or Viagra and VED

Wish you all the best

Thanks James

This has been the most difficult thing I've dealt with. It's obviously not life threatening, but is devastating on so many levels none the less. My relationship with my girlfriend is practically sexless now and I know she doesn't really understand how this has impacted me. She blames herself and we were probably going to try to start a family within the next year.

The surgery was a complete waste. The urologist kept telling me I needed to have my penis internally inspected before scar tissue could set in, which could happen within 48hrs. I was so afraid my penis was ruined and obviously knew nothing about penile fractures. The most frustrating thing about it was that the doctors convinced me that by having this surgery it would greatly reduce the risk of potential erectile complications down the road. I'm not saying he made things worse, but who knows? I was so freaked out I didn't even think to ask if he had done this procedure before! They billed my insurance $28,0000 for the procedure, which my ins company is now trying to get out of paying. I'm not sure what he was looking for or if he missed something that needed repaired. He just said it would be like getting recircumsized and if they found any damage they would repair it and simply sew me back up.

Anyhow if anyone has any experience with this injury or from peyronies caused by trauma and not over time please let me know. I will take a look at the forum and hope to find some answers here.

The surgery is absolutely the correct thing to do.  It's suspicious that he didn't find any damage given that you had an eggplant deformity - that being said he is the doctor and we are just laymen posting on the internet.

I had a similar accident and didn't get surgery and I greatly regret it (went in too late).  I didn't have the eggplant

The point of surgery is that if they can find a tear in the corpus they will sow it back up and it heals 95% of the time.  The outcome for conservative treatment where you don't have surgery is 50/50 at best.

You did everything correctly and it's a very good thing you got the surgery.  It seems like either there simply wasn't a tear or the surgeon missed it.  Have you followed up anyone else for a second opinion?

I know what you're going through - the emotional aspect of this is very difficult.  For what it's worth, about 6 months ago I couldn't even sleep the pain was so severe but at this point I'm basically back to normal minus the fact that I have a deformity and the sadness that goes along with this.  I'm about a year into this personally.

This horrible disease is indeed devastating for every one, is devastating for me also.
From the other side, we have to take a proactive approach to deal with the disease. For this reason I wrote you that you must see as soon as possible a Peyronies specialist.

Regarding your surgery price it seems me very inflated as implant surgeries in the US vary from $20,500 to $33,000 (those are proposals I get) with the best specialists and this price includes the implant itself that is expensive!
In my opinion a big part of your problems are due to the surgery and not from the original damage. But is my private opinion.
Also based on what my uro is saying to find a tear surgery is not necessary. It is necessary to treat it, but to find it can be done with ultrasound while erected.

If you will write where more or less you are located, some members may give you and advice regarding a Peyronies specialist.
You can also read the board "Urologists and Other Doctors" to try to find one that forum members are recommending.

Regarding your GF, as you have written that you are planning to build a family, you have to talk with her very open and explain her the situation. More she will understand, more easy will be for both of you.
But first, you have to take out from her head that is her fault. It is not her fault! It happend in the heat of having sex and she should not feel guilty.

Cialis 20mg and Viagra 100mg has made also for me very strong headeach and also other side effects. The headeach now from both is much less after long period of small dose daily usage of those medications.

The treatment I am doing and I have all the symptoms you have except the pain is daily:
2*400mg Pentox
4mg Cialis (cutting the 20mg to 5 pcs)
VED - the one cylinder 30 minutes daily.
I am going to add from the next week after I will get my order from iHerb:
1000mg L-Argininne
2*100mg Ubiquinol (maybe 3*100mg)
My uro that just came back from a two weeks Peyronies learning conference in the US with the best Peyronies experts told me that this treatment suppose to be the first line treatment (especially the Pentox) to stop the disease progress and even revers it.

Hope the information is helping you.

How horrifying!

Sounds so painful. We all know how you are feeling emotionally its VERY difficult to deal with.  My thinking is why didnt your first Dr send you to a specialist to start with.  I'm no Dr but i would think that he would have found SOMTHING wrong.
What happening to you is NOT natural. Come on that's a no-brainer.  I'm with James all the way find a specialist before to much damage is done.

Don't neglect your mental health get help if you need it, there is nothing wrong with that. I know you are devastated.

Don't forget your girl friend I'm sure she feels so bad.

Hang in there and keep us informed and educated.

Thanks for the info guys. From what I've researched the surgery is now standard procedure with this sort of injury. I just question whether the urologist was qualified to perform this procedure. If he wasn't he should have simply referred me to someone who was. I seem to have just about every complication imaginable so his advice to have the surgery in order to avoid these complications seems pointless now, and leaves me scratching my head questioning his experience. How many guys who have this rare injury happen to them actually go to the hospital? I'm guessing it's a low percentage. So he probably hasn't seen many if any cases, but I'm just assuming this. he offered me very little info during the post op office visit. I was under the impression that since I had the surgery that I'd be out of the woods at this point  and would have avoided all the E.D. and deformities.

0x5555 and James1947, thanks for your replies. I sincerely feel your pain as well. Like I stated this isn't cancer or life threatening, but it can be so devastating. It's like having one of life's most basic and potentially profound pleasures stripped from you and it's completely impossible to ignor. I feel like my testosterone is zero. Like any guy I want more than just companionship with a woman and feel like I can't provide what she needs as much as I need it too. It's good to hear from someone with a similar problem who can relate.

I live in Pittsburgh, PA and went to see a different urologist/surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic 2 months after the injury happened who was supposed to very good at treating Peyronies. He told me to give it more time and if things didn't return to normal within 6 months to come back. They gave me a script for viagra, and said it was ok to try to get things fully stretched/hard. I guess I'm kind of freaked out because it's been close to 6 months and things are far from normal. The mending process seems to have plateaued. They noticed at the time of appt the presence of a band hard tissue which should be spongy. They didn't induce an erection. What are the symptoms of a torn corpus?

I've told my GF numerous times that it isn't her fault and that it was an accident. It's hard for a woman to fully understand how closely a man's erection/sexual function and his self esteem, motivation, confidence are all related. I think she feels that I will hold some resentment towards her if things don't return to normal. Trust me, I don't blame her for what happened.

james1947

The main reason for the ED associated with Peyronies are the hard tissues that are blocking the blood flow into the penis spongious tissues or to parts of them.
In addition that they are causing deformities, the reason why the hard tissues should be treated is because they are restricting the blood flow.

Regarding the uro that told you let's wait for six months it is just showing that he don't understand in Peyronies. They all (most) are saying that in 50% of the cases the Peyronies just disappear. It is not happening in the real life, in my opinion.

thanks for your support and info guys. I need to start researching for a urologist who understands this and can hopefully help turn it around. I know I've become depressed and unmotivated due to this injury and the deformities. I need to start with getting my testosterone levels checked and find a good doctor, even if it means traveling a distance. There's so much about peyronies and penile injury that doctors don't seem to understand, which is frustrating for sure. It's almost like you're just guessing all the time. The not knowing if things will turn around and improve is rough. It's nice to know a resource like this site exists for help/support and answers.
