Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I live in Vancouver and I have a downward curvature as long as I can remember but I'm not sure whether it's Peyronie's Disease or Congenital Curvature. I'm only 17 years old and I'm socially embarrassed about this condition. I didn't notice it until I was 11-13, before then I thought curvature was also considered normal or average. I can't recall when it happened but it has stayed with me for a considerable period now. Usually there isn't any pain during erection as the pain only occurs occasionally like 2~3 times a year. On top of that, the curvature isn't severe either. However, the problem instead are soft erections. I noticed that there is a red scar-like tissue on the bottom side of my penis. During erection, every part (top, left, right) hardens while the bottom part remains soft or not as hard. I haven't had the confidence to have my condition checked by a family doctor or a urologists yet.

A small curvature is not so important but the soft erections are. I know that is very difficult for you to see a doctor (I was in your age long time ago) but you need to address the problem.
It is important to see a doctor that is specialised in Male Disfunction problems, usually it will be an urologist.

You have to talk whit him openly and tell him all what you know about your situation.
Do not be embarrassed even if is a female doctor and/or a female nurse is in the room. It will not the fist time they are checking a penis.
His test (usually ultrasound and physical examination of your penis) results will tell you (and us if you will update us) what exactly your problem is and I am sure some on the forum will be able to give you good advices.

Take your time and read the boards of the forum. It will give you more information also regarding congenital curvature, ED and also Peyronie's

Best wishes

Generally a congenital curvature will be gradual like a banana. And can be in any direction. Peyronies usually has a more sharper (or acute) angle associated with it. In either case I would encourage you to see a specialist.

Being somewhat curved is no need for embarrassment. Most men of somewhat of a curve. It is only if the curve is severe enough to interfere with intercourse for you to be concerned.

Thank you so much guys. I understand that I have to see urologist but are the treatments usually costly? I'm currently saving for universities and other stuff.

Before can say if a treatment is costly or not, you have to see an urologist that can confirm what you have.
It is different if it is a congenital curvature or Peyronie's.

Based just on the information you have provided is very difficult to give you an advice regarding treatment.
Do you have health care insurance? It may cover most or maybe all your expenses.

For an analysis and assessment is usually the cost of an office visit. In the U.S. an office visit for a General Practitioner is not as much as an office visit to a specialist. But both are an office visit assuming no other tests are necessary. Usually a general urologist will examine and try to feel for anything wrong. If you have a gradual curve, and have always had this then you likely have a congenital curve. This will determine your next steps and course of action.
