WORKOUT WITH PEYRONIES

About six months ago I started a workout regime with a personal trainer to get my mind off of Peyronies Disease and hopefully do myself some good with the progression of the disease. All went well for a few months and I am seeing great results in my body. I have noticed though that I have really bad tendon inflammation in both my elbows and shoulders. What is interesting is there are several people I work out with in a group setting doing the same exercises and none of them have issues like I do. My trainer is very experienced and never tries to push me into something I don't want to do. The exercises I am doing are with proper form (he monitors me closely) and should not be causing any long term problems. These are not simple aches and pains but chronic inflammation that actually prevents me from doing certain exercises all together. I am now convinced that I have an auto immune disorder and these tendon issues are very closely related to the inflammation that caused my Peyronies Disease. Have any of you run into this with workouts or activity? I should point out that I am 26 years old and generally in good health thankfully. Also, I am thinking I may even quit working out all together as I fear that this tendon inflammation, although not local to my groin area, will somehow make my Peyronies Disease worse. Do any of you know if this is a valid concern or have seen this in themselves?

I do not find this surprising.  Both problems stem from the same cause.  - George

I have also noticed a lot of tendonitis since my diagnosis.

I don't know if it is related to the Peyronies or the Pentox (perhaps neither).

It's interesting you should compare peyronies to tendon issues.  When I palpitate my "plaque" area it feels just like a network of inflammed tendons.  Only during a flare up though.  I can not find any plaque during periods of calm although the bend and the shortening are always present.

I am a avid lifter and experienced the same thing in my early twenties. I went to the ortho and he looked at me and said you just do to much take it easy. I did and it never really got better. I didn't have it so much in my shoulders as just my elbows. The inside (golfers Elbow as they call it) I would work out with friends some of which we were on a regular schedule for years and they never had the elbow tendonitous issues I had either. I took a month off from working out and my elbows felt great but when I started working out again it was back right away. Now I have started changing my diet to be mainly raw plant based and my elbows have seemed pretty good thus far. I dunno if its the diet as I also started playing around with my workout because I wasn't seen gains and getting aches and pains.

George999

Dietary issues for both would be things like Omega 3/6 issues, sufficient creatine, sufficient high quality protein.  - George

See I always wonderd if creatine might have been part of my problem because I use to cycle it to get stronger and bigger and thought because I had to use a supplement to make gains my body just really wasn't able to handle the extra weight I working out with.

I had and I have tendon inflammations on my shoulders and my legs. What helping me is reducing the amount of exercise (temporary) and get weekly massage from a real professional. A real professional massour knows how much power and how long time should apply. It happened to me also to get worst when the massour was not enough professional.

Low creatine in the diet has actually been shown to be a factor in degenerative disease.  A lot of people are on plant based diets which is healthy overall, but they put themselves at risk for a few specific deficiencies, creatine being a very significant one.  It really doesn't take much to fill the gap, but getting some at least is critical.  - George

George -

I do eat protein rich foods because I am working out 4 to 5 days a week. I think there is natural creatine in meats right? Is there a baseline value you know of?

George999

Creatine is ONLY found in animal based foods, not plant based.  I am not sure whether whey contains creatine even though it is animal based.  I suspect that it does not UNLESS it has been included as an additive.  Natural creatine is only found in meat as far as I know.  - George

Hey guys i was wondering, if I do have peyronies, is it safe to still play hockey, soccer, and ride the stationary bike at the gym?  I lovee doing cardio activities and it would kill me if i couldnt still do waht i love...so are these dangerous?

fubar

Lightning rarely strikes the same place twice.I would not stop living because of peyronie's.Ofcourse be cautious not to injure yourself.I definitely would not use my penis as a hockey stick.

Infact all those things you mentioned will keep you healthy and keep your mind from focusing on Peyronie's.

And if i am flaccid what are the chances of injuring my penis?

james1947

Seriouslyinpain
The chance of injury of the penis in flaccid position during playing soccer or hockey is depending of how harsh the game is. If the boll, the disc, the hockey stick or someone feet will hit you penis it will cause injury. Professional sportsman wearing a protective device for the penis and testicles.
Fubar is right

. Using your penis as a hockey stick will be also impossible after the reduced size by Peyronie's

James, or anyone how much does your penis usually shrink in inches when you have peyronies, and over how long a period of time will it continue to shrink until it stabalizes.  Thanks

LWillisjr

There is no "standard" for this. Some guys don't lose any length while I know one who lost almost 4 inches. And a few of these guys had surgery. So is also hard to say how much if any was lost due to Peyronies and how much if any was lost due to the surgical procedure. There just isn't a standard answer for this one.

James, How long have you been stable,

Les, after surgery, do you stop losing length becuase the scar tissue is gone?

And if stem cells evenutally get used to make healthy tissue, would that result in length coming back?

LWillisjr

If any loss of length is due to Peyronies itself, I assume this would happen during the initial 12-18 month active (or actue) phase. After this Peyronies supposedly stablizes so no addtional change or loss of length.

If it is due to surgery, it is due to the type of surgical option selected and is a one time event at the time of surgery.

So I think the real answer is post surgery (which isn't performed until after the active phase) then there generally is no other change after this. Some have reported the ability to gain some lost length back after using a VED or traction post surgery.

I am stable for more than one year. I am proposing you read Luciano post regarding surgery with lengthening. Very interesting.
