Restorex frustration

I just started using the Resorex. I was diagnosed last week with Peyronies Disease. My issue is that whenever I get the device out and start to apply the tape, my penis shrinks up. It's like it takes a look at the device and says "no effing way" and retracts to about an inch. I've tried using just the clamp part and using manual traction until I can get the clamp inserted into the device. Then, without fail, my penis slips out of the device and I have to start over again. By this time I've irritated the head with tape and have caught pubic hairs in the clamp and device. For $600 the ergonomics on this device are awful.

I apologize for ranting a bit here but I'm frustrated, scared and afraid I'll have to live with this awful condition forever.

Any help on mindset or using this medieval device is more than welcome.

It takes a lot of patience and persistence for your mind to adapt to using these devices. Everyone's different—some men adjust quickly, while others (like myself) struggle at first. I also experienced a lot of anxiety when I first started, which caused my penis to retract and shrivel up, making traction difficult. I deal with hard flaccid symptoms too, so I understand how tough it can be.

I spent weeks just securing myself in the device without applying any traction. I allowed my body to adapt to the feeling of just having the device on. Over time, my penis has started to relax more, and I was able to start applying some light traction. Not everyone takes this long, but it was a gradual process for me (and I am super early in the therapy), so I completely understand where you're at. Doing some meditation and focusing on your breathing while using the device can also help you stay relaxed.

Regarding devices, I initially tried RestoreX, but the tension was way too much for me due to how my flaccid state would tighten up. I switched to the Penimaster Pro after reading recommendations here, and I find it much more comfortable, especially for starting out. The tension is more manageable, and though it took me time to adjust, I can now complete multiple light traction sessions each day. As my body continues to adapt, I'll slowly increase the tension, and I may eventually switch back to RestoreX.

Don't be too hard on yourself! Your response to the device is completely normal for a lot of men. Be patient, give yourself time, and stay consistent. You've got this!

I was very frustrated with Restorex when I first used it. I couldn't get the hang of it and I would get upset.

I kept trying again every evening after work and ended up mastering it. Now I have a routine and use it with no problems.

At first it may be painful and uncomfortable but over time you adjust.

The discomfort and slight pain in the beginning made me want to use it. This made me know it was a good device. The logic was "This feeling is telling me it must do something"

Thank you both so much. There is a huge psychological part to this whole problem that of course the doctors don't address. I did hear back from Restorex on my issues, they suggested the following:

RestoreX – Device Placement

QUAL-5002, Rev A (4/19) Confidential Page 1 of 1
Instructions:
The following instruction provides helpful patient tips for placement of the RestoreX device.
Device Placement Tips:
For men having difficulty attaching RestoreX to the penis, there are several helpful tips that may allow for easier
placement. These suggestions are for men that have a stretched penile length (SPL) of 3.5 to 4.0 inches. If the user's
SPL is less than 3.5 inches, these suggestions may not be of benefit.
1) The user should be warm and relaxed. Stretched penile length can vary depending on temperature. Having the
pelvic region in a warm state will aid in getting a longer SPL and facilitating the fit of RestoreX.
2) The user may wish to recline or lay flat when applying the clamp. Often, when laying flat, the skin at the base
of the penis and in the pubic region will be easier to push back.
3) By rotating the clamp up toward the pelvic ring, the RestoreX device length is shortened by about 1⁄2 inch; this
can make it easier to put the RestoreX device on. Figure A below shows the clamp in its standard straight
configuration with the device locked on the tension rods. Figure B depicts the clamp rotated toward the pelvic
ring making the device shorter and therefore easier to put on.

Figure A Figure B
After the user has put the RestoreX on, he should attempt to rotate the clamp back to the position shown in
Figure A and proceed with the treatment. If he is unable to rotate back to the position in figure A, the straight
portion of the treatment can be delivered from the position shown in Figure B.
4) Finally, the user may want to take the clamp out of the clamp housing (See page 13 of instruction manual for
how to remove). After removing the clamp, put the penis through the base ring of the device, and then put the
clamp on as directed. The user can then slowly pull on the clamp until able to put it back into the clamp
housing. This may take 3-7 minute of slow, gentle stretching. The user may also combine this with step #3 to
make it easier to replace the clamp into the clamp housing.
5) For the first month after receiving the device, attempt to gain length by doing straight stretching only for the 2,
30-minute treatments. Opposite Angular Force (counter-bending) can be added later to address the curvature.
6) If possible, the user may also wish to ask for the assistance of a partner in helping to apply the device.
Particularly if having difficulty in reaching the penis with both hands, or cannot see the penis, this may be a
helpful step.

UPDATE:

Thank you all for the help and advice. I've been able to somewhat comfortably use the Restorex for 30 minutes, starting with lengthening and then switching to curvature correction, two clicks down!

It's not pleasant but not unbearable. The big difference was overcoming anxiety around using enough clamping pressure. It seems like it would cause bruising and more scar tissue but after the first few seconds the pain goes away.

Fingers crossed that this will make a difference.
