When to pull the trigger

I had two xiaflex procedures back to back in November and December last year.  The second was rough and the recovery was and remains long lasting.  Prior to these, I had good to great erectile function especially with sildenafil. Now, it's not good. It works but not great and I don't feel like it's improving.  I've tried sildenafil, daily tadalafil, both together, Trimix gel (not the injectable), PT141 and no great breakthroughs. I do not wake with morning erections, occasionally slightly. VED doesn't work like it used to.

The doctor I used for the Xiaflex says it can take a long time to heal all the way and it could continue to improve for years. How long do I wait? Has anyone here had to wait a year plus to get erections back after xiaflex?

I feel like I traded my curvature for ED. I'm straighter for sure but I lost length and girth and erectile function. Daily Restorex use has been helping to get some length back.

I've consulted with Clavell and researched some of the other high volume implant surgeons including Hakky, Eid, Lentz. The idea of resuming a normal sex life with improved erectile function is great. I'm a bit nervous about another intense and very painful recovery post procedure and feel wary of having hope and being disappointed like my Xiaflex experience.

I've read a lot of great accounts on here of successful implant surgeries which is encouraging.  It also seems many men have experienced failed pumps, etc and several revised surgeries. Obviously, there are no guarantees.

Has anyone worked with Dr. Clavell?

It's an individual decision. Everyone knows when they have reached the point. I think it's kinda like this, once you know you know, there will be absolutely no hesitancy regarding the decision to get implanted on.

Clavell is a very experienced and good implant surgeon, as is Hakky, Eid etc. If you have the money to do the procedure, I would say don't waste any time, Hakky, Eid, or Clavell, either of those would be great.

They have saved the sex lives of countless of men.

Dr Clavell did my implant a few years ago with great success....................infact I only met him twice, the morning of the surgury and then a hour or two afterwards, it all went very smoothly and I only stayed in Houston for 2 nights after the operation and then flew back overseas to where I live

Gap63, thanks for sharing your experience. I spoke with Clavell and enjoyed our conversation. I want to just commit but have been feeling nervous about another long, painful recovery and whether sex will be enjoyable again.  The last two years have been a real challenge.  I'd like to feel hopeful and confident again.

MRowdy, no regrets here at all, except maybe not getting the implant sooner than I did, although covid postponed things so I had no choice but to wait a bit longer......................I can only talk of my experience, pain was negligible, infact I only took half the pain medication I was supplied with, no pain after a few weeks...............a bit awkward for 6 weeks with an erection but you learn to deal with covering up.............after the 6 weeks its ready to go and has been faultless in operation since

I've made the decision to get an implant. I'll have confirmation soon for a date anywhere in the next 3-7 weeks. I chose Dr Clavell after speaking with him on two separate occasions.

I'm a combination of excited to put ED, Xiaflex, Restorex, VEDs, Sildenafil, Trimix and a frustrated wife behind me and nervous about another long, potentially painful procedure. My mindset is mostly good but I will be working on letting go of the fear before I go to Houston.

Thanks to all of you who shared your experience here. It has been a huge help for me.

Congratulations on your decision! It's no small thing. Wishing you good luck in your surgery and that hopefully your ED/Peyronies days will over soon!

Good luck and get into marathon mode. Recovery takes several weeks.

After suffering with ED for decades and Peyronies Disease for months, it was a no-brainer for me. There was no other logical choice.

I'm almost nine months postop and things are working perfectly. Better than in my teens. It's different than before in some ways, but better with everything considered.

Regarding Peyronies Disease, it's straight and hard. As to ED, it's 100% reliable every time and for as long as you want. I couldn't recommend it more enthusiastically.
