Hey everyone,

I have a question for those of you who have undergone an induced erection for ultrasound as part of your Peyronie's Disease diagnosis. I'm currently in a new acute phase and have an upcoming appointment with Dr. Levine in Chicago, who I understand is one of the top experts in Peyronie's Disease.

During the initial analysis, their staff mentioned that they typically perform an ultrasound with an induced erection via injection for patients with Peyronies Disease symptoms. I've never had this done before, even during previous diagnoses when plaque was identified. Naturally, I'm a bit concerned about the safety of this procedure, particularly the fact that the erection is induced via injection directly into the penis.

Here are a few questions I have:

-What are the safety risks associated with this procedure? Is there a possibility that the injection could cause new scarring?

-For those who have undergone this procedure, did you experience any adverse effects that resulted in long-term damage? The thought of developing new plaque from the injection is really worrying me.

-If the plaque is already palpable by hand, what additional information does the ultrasound provide? Specifically, I'm curious about what data it offers beyond assessing blood flow, scarring size, and exact location that justifies its necessity.

-Is the process painful? I'm currently experiencing pain with erections, and I'm concerned about whether this will exacerbate it.

If anyone has seen Dr. Levine and gone through this procedure, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Thanks so much for your input!

I went through this exact procedure with Dr Levine in 2020. A little pinch and wallah an instant erection. He will be able to see your blood flow and possibly identify your areas of deformity. He is very good at what he does and I liked him, he has a witty personality and does not come off arrogant. He will through out a lot of info so have your questions ready. He uses the PMP which if you get it through his office there is a coupon that he gives his patients. You will be fine, I was nervous too before my appointment. It should not make your peyronies worse.

Good to know! Does he perform the injection and ultrasound procedure himself?

Dr Levine gave me the injection and I remember his assistant helped a little with holding the ultrasound at the right angle, while the Dr was examining things closely. It was all professional. You will be fine :)

The only thing i add is for you to:

1- get a sudafed box to help bring out the erection down if you have any issues at the Dr´s office.

2- try to ask them if they can inject phenilephrine to bring the erection down so you are safe, before you leave.

The last thing you want is to have a priapism, but the chances are not that high. Normally they give you the minimum recommended dose necessary for you to have an erection for the ultrasound.

I forgot to mention that the Dr did give me an injection of phenylephrine afterwards to bring my erection down as Pfract has stated.
