Hi everyone I am new here and I believe I am still in the acute phase because I still have pain. I have some hour glassing and a bend to the left.

I understand what that the calcified tissue is found in the chronic phase does that mean the fibrotic tissue is found in the acute phase? Is plaque synonymous with fibrotic tissue? I don't understand all these terms and how they fit into the Peyronies Disease cycle.

Its my understanding that you want to do as much as you can traction, blood flow, inflammation reduction, VED during the acute phase because once the tissue calcifies its pretty much bone and cannot be stretched.

Is that correct?
Diagnosed after two uro visits march 2023. physical exam no ultrasound
Noticed upward bend october 22.
currently on 5mg cialis and using hot rice sock. trying to find right traction device
Pain started 12 2022.

just because you get to the stable phase does not mean that your scar tissue is going to calcify. For some men it can and it will clearly show on an ultrasound. Other men just have scar tissue. There is no way to predict the outcome. You only have tools now to try and slow this down and stop inflammation and deformity.

Hello Mikel
How do you know your plaque is calcified? Is is harder? Less flexibel? Does traction still make sense then?
60 years old. Peyronie disease since 2020. Upward curve 30 degrees. Thick calcified plaque, dorsal, just beneath glans. 2cm wide, 1cm long. No ED. Except soft glans.

Calcification can only be shown through an ultrasound or CT imaging of the penis. It shows as a white opaque area. It is very hard like bone. Yes, traction makes sense in peyronies but unfortunately will not affect calcification.

After a bit of research I understood that one either gets a calcified plaque or a non calcified plaque. The one doesn't develop in to the other. I believe dr. Trost mentioned this. I will try and see if I can find the link.

He mentioned also that with the new version of the Restorex even calcified plaques can be counterbend a bit. But this wasn't a scientific statement he said.

Hope it wasn't a commercial statement either. I don't believe he gives false hope. I think he has a scientific gaze.

Here's the quote:

Quote from: MFPC Trost on December 23, 2022, 09:26:49 AMAs far as calcification, few Peyronies Disease cases actually ever develop calcification, and those that do often do so in the first few months.  So, it's not a continually progressive disease where it starts as scar tissue then eventually calcifies.  Rather, the men who are going to calcify do, and those who won't don't.

Hope this helps!

Somewhere else he mentioned that calcified plaques are less common and more associated with pain.

How are non calcified plaques seen then?

The non calcified plaques are a little more difficult to see depending on their location. Dr's that are experienced can have difficulty at times spotting them. It shows though as a semi opaque area or mass. The calcified areas are very opaque and appear white.
