The purpose of this post is to detail my experiences with the Morganstern Urology & Men's Health Center located in Atlanta, GA, in the USA. I will add to this post as things progress in my treatment.

BACKGROUND
I have been suffering with Erectile Dysfunction & Peyronie's Disease for almost 2.5 years. For me, it started with ED and then shortly thereafter, I noticed the curve. I called my MD when I had the issues with ED and I asked for a testosterone blood test. The results were 'low/normal' range. I took monthly treatments of testosterone injections for 3 months but, no good result from it. The next thing I tried was a Viagra prescription, also of no real help. I did not get an erection suitable for sexual intercourse with my wife of 30 years.

In September of 2021, I was referred by my doctor to a Urologist. I actually met with a Physicians Assistant who was their in-house specialist on Peyronie's. After a physical exam, he gave me the official diagnosis of Peyronie's as he was able to feel the plaque. He handed me a XIAFLEX pamphlet as apparently, his treatment would be this injectable drug. He said we needed to wait about 3-4 months as I was still at an early stage of Peyronies Disease. An appointment was scheduled for December, 2021, where his treatment would be injections of XIAFLEX. At this point in time, I was still fairly ignorant about this disease but, I quickly started doing my own research. I had about a half a dozen questions for him regarding further testing, like an ultrasound, which he was not going to do. Red flags went up for me and I cancelled the appointment.

Present Time

At the time of this writing, it is 2/25/23. Earlier this week I had a 1 hour phone call with a representative from the clinic, who's name is Ray Reynolds. He is their Peyronie's 'guru' and, he was also was a patient himself. He said he had Peyronies Disease for 10 years and was now cured as of 8 years ago. During our call, which my wife also listened in on, he came across as real and he was obviously very knowledgeable of all the types of treatments and tests associated with dealing with Peyronies Disease & ED. I was cautiously optimistic that the Morganstern Clinic might be able to help me. I was able to make an initial appointment 2 days later.

On 2/23/23, I went to my appointment (the clinic is about a 1 1/2 drive from me) and met with Dan, a P.A. My wife and I talked with him for over an hour. He was very informative, and he took the time to answer all of our questions. He stated that after they reviewed a blood test and an ultrasound, of my penis (while erect via an injection), they would then recommend a course of treatment. He talked about injections, traction and the possibility of surgery. The surgery is not to attempt to remove the plaque as that can be very problematic and potentially result in injury to the penis but, a procedure that puts a few incisions on the opposite side of where the bend occurs. In my case, I have a pronounced left curve. If I were to go this route (surgery), the incisions would be on the right side. They make 2 incisions and then "pull it together" so that there is no longer a bend in the penis. Obviously, it is way to soon to be looking at this option before knowing entirely what is causing my ED.

I learned during this session that there is some overlap between ED and Peyronies Disease but, they are, for the most part, different issues that need to be looked at individually as well as collectively.

I never realized when this journey started that there are so many facets to deal with and treatments to think about.

In summary, at this time, I will be going on Monday to a Quest Diagnostics clinic to have blood drawn. I have an appointment in the 3rd week of March to have the ultrasound done. After that, I will have a consultation with one of the Dr's, perhaps Dr. Morganstern, on the treatment protocol for me.

NOTE: Dr. Morganstern is now 75 years old and is only in the office one day a week. I do not believe he performs any more surgeries. Not 100% sure on this.

NOTE: As I am on Medicare, many of my expenses will be covered (thankfully!) other than copay's. My ultrasound will put me $90 out of pocket.

I will continue this string as things develop.

gsc55 - appreciate your detailed post.  I am hoping this proves to be a viable treatment option as surgery may be my last option at this point (have had 2 full rounds of Xiaflex and 2 rounds of Shockwave with little improvement).  Good luck with the treatments and will be watching for your updates.

Before my appointment to have an ultrasound, I made the decision to not continue any treatments at Morgenstern's Urology clinic. There were a few red flags for me that gave me pause about continuing a relationship with their services.

Right now, at this juncture in my life, I'm not sure what my future plans are for treatment, if any at all.

You should try a phone consult with Dr.Trost in Utah. It's free, and he seems to be a great doctor for this area of our anatomy. Like a super specialist for Peyronies.
Even a trip to Utah ,if affordable, might be good. It's beautiful out there. Tons of Delta flights to SLC.
age 62. Onset 2010. 30deg to the left
Did ved therapy for 6 mo. Some help. Lived with it.
In 2020, left bend increased 50-60
Jan 2023 Did some Xiaflex shots w/ Dr. Trost.
Now, slight curve with hourglassing. hardly noticeable.
Pleased with results.

UPDATE: Since I get a personal message from time to time on why I did not continue down the path to treatment at the Morgenstern clinic I will answer that here.

The person I spoke to initially, at great length, who claimed to be cured of Peyronie's after treatment at the clinic turns out to be a transsexual. I felt that having a person speaking to you, that is now identifying as a female, and never stating such but, being a front person for a clinic treating men with sexual dysfunction was not being transparent and honest. "Ray" is Rayvon Reynolds https://rayvonreynolds.com/. What someone does as an individual is their business. It did not sit well with me that there were claims of healing by "Ray"...how was he/she healed? I did not get this answer.

One other thing that I did not mention previously. During my initial consult and, later my exam in the clinic, was 'ExoSurge' ever mentioned. I don't even know what that process is.

To summarize, I was not comfortable with this place and I made the personal decision not to go back.

If your insurance covers the injections. Take them. Xiaflex is the top treatment for peyronies.

Am writing as a person who's had this disease for 6 years.

I would also recommend you try vacuum therapy. As this has increased my erection quality. It's also incredible cheap to undertake. Just 5 mins a night.

It's just my opinion
Latest routine. Started l-lysine 3mg daily, l-proline 5mg daily. Increased vit c intake. Accompanied with almost daily vacuum therapy. Pumping to 100% Exercise caution! Made good progress. L arginine supplements and prescribed potaba are helping.
