Plication surgery- how does it fix scar tissue?

So someone the plication procedure to me like I'm 10. I dont understand how it works. I get that stitching the side opposite the plaque is supposed to fix the curve. How does it do that though? Does it somehow stretch the plaque back in the opposite direction? If so, I dont get how a plaque that is in theory not easily stretchable all the sudden stretched by pulling it in the opposite direction. Seems like it would break the plaque. Again clearly i  dont understand it.

The plaque contracts one side of the penis, and the unaffected side is longer. This mismatch in length causes the curve. They shorten the unaffected side to match the contacted side. Thus, making your penis smaller overall.  
57 yrs old.
Pre-Trost treatment, 110 composite curve (75 up, 35 left)
Post-Trost xiaflex treatment, 0-15 degree curve.
