Seeking Advice about Potaba

Jack Of Hearts

I'm in Europe and I posted my history in the introduction section.  I have early stage IPP and have been told by my Urologist and a university hospital to take Potaba, which is the only treatment recommended. I understand that this treatment won't cure but might halt the problem.

I wanted to ask about others experience with this treatment. Is there anyone who feels it has really helped them ? I know and have read about possible side affects. I'm less concerned about them but am more concerned about taking something for so long, perhaps for nothing, and worry about long term side affects.

Is there any reliable data available about how likely this is to help me ?

My urologist and the Potaba manufacturer (I called) have been very insistent that it must be taken exactly and strictly every 6 hours, the powder should be mixed fresh with water and always taken with some food. This means only having 6 hours sleep, getting up, eating at least a banana, consuming the Potaba. As this is due to continue for 6 months to a year that's not a pleasant thought. I don't fall asleep again easily once awake and I really need my sleep. So I wanted to ask if others were recommended this strict regime ? Or if anyone had success taking Potaba regularly 4 times a day but not every 6 hours ?And if it is really a waste of time even trying it if you don't stick to the recommended dose times ?

Thanks so much for your help

Just a bump. I'm wondering if anyone has anything to say about this treatment. It's the only one I'm being offered and despite being worried about my IPP getting worse I'm quite unsure about taking this medication for a year. Any info or feedback very gratefully received.

Urologists offered it to me too. But even they did not believe in it. It is the only covered oral treatment in Germany, that explains the popularity here. I did not try it, sounded like a scam from the beginning plus comes with side effects.

I was taking Potaba for about 9 months, but not as the only treatment. From the very beginning I also started vit. E, Ubiquinol, Acetyl L-carnitine and Pentox. Few months ago I started to take antioxidants, which I think had positive effect. After my condition slowly started to improve, I stopped taking Potaba so I cannot say if Potaba had any influence on me. I just wanted to use everything what has at least little scientific background. If I was you, I wouldn't rely only on Potaba. It is quite expensive, has little positive reports in literature and can have negative side effect, although I did not experience them.

Jack Of Hearts:

Hey Jack.

From all i have read here on the board, online on pubmed and Urological association websites Potaba does nothing for you. Those are old recommendations by urologists that are not up to date. I am yet to see any improvement account on it here. Please check the guidelines for yourself:

Nothing but feel good medication. Dr. Landon trost's website even recommends against it.

I agree with Pfract. Several members on the forum say they have tried it. But I don't know of anyone that claimed it did any improvements for them.
