Less pain in social situations?

Any flaccid chronic pain sufferer here that notices he feels less or no pain at all in social situations, like a date, eating with your family or these situations? I am talking about situations when you are sitting. Walking or standing my pain is not noticeable anyways.

This makes me wonder if distraction could be a great factor in experiencing my pain.
Also maybe with other people around i am moving more, keeping the core muscles activated? Lot of things to consider.

I imagine it's because you are distracted, yes.

The more time we dedicate to the focus of pain, the more we feel it. When our focus is elsewhere, the feeling lessens.

If chronic flaccid pain is linked more so to things like hard flaccid or other pelvic floor issues, then socialising will ultimately relieve any anxieties you may have, and in turn relieve pain as your pelvic floor relaxes.

I believe the distraction absolutely works.  It's good to keep the mind focused on something else.

Be well.

It works so much wonders that i try to figure out how i can adapt this distraction into my everyday life. However its not easy. When we are just eating dinner at home for example i can still feel pain. When going out in a restaurant i am more distracted. Usually i would imagine my PF is tighter then. Anyway, its interesting and i will look more into chronic pain therapy

Do you have pain when you wake up at night?
No deformity or ED. Discomfort (which is improving gradually). Months of stress preceded symptoms. Discomfort can be palpated on practically the whole penis but it comes and goes. I can't find plaque. Latest urologist doubts that it is Peyronies Disease.

I have no pain when I first wake up in the morning, usually as the day progresses so does the pain. By the evening at bed time it will be at its worse. I need to wee about 30 times before I can sleep and fully emptying feels very difficult. Not sure if anyone else finds this?

Dear Indenialguy

I claim no expertise but I wonder why you think you have Peyronies Disease.

I have read as much as I can of Dr Trost's posts and I consider him to be as good as it gets in this area and I respect him very much. Some urologists will diagnose you with Peyronies Disease if you claim to have any penile pain at all. This is very problematical in my opinion.

In my non-expert opinion, so called hard flaccid syndrome can be a manifestation of somaticisation (or see the NHS website for "medically unexplained symptoms").

This is also worth a look: https://www.ccjm.org/content/ccjom/57/8/697.full.pdf

"Among 48 men with genital pain and no organic findings, psychological disorders were diagnosed frequently, including somatization disorder in 56%, nongenital chronic pain syndromes in 50%, major depression in 27%, and chemical dependency in 27%. About one third of the group were socially isolated and 18% had had an important emotional loss at the time of pain onset. Despite their mean age of 41, only half of the men were married. These data suggest that genital pain without organic findings is often related to psychological disorders, life stress, and poor social support. Treatment planning should take these factors into account."

Please note that I cannot say anything about your condition and I would not presume to do so.  I clain no expertise!

This will probably be my last post on this forum. I think my problem has been psychological- and I'm unlikely to be only one. Let's face it, the penis is going to be a key area for obsessive catastrophization in males.

I wish you and everyone else here all the very best.
