Hey guys. One of the things that I don't see discussed much, and I wanted to share my experience with this, is the mental trauma that goes along with this, that is often ignored. This is a TRAUMATIC experience. From the "damage" through recovery. This has lasting mental effects, that will last, as you will never be as you were again. Period. That's one thing people need to embrace early on. YOU WILL NEVER BE WHAT YOU CONSIDER "NORMAL" AGAIN. I can't stress that enough.

From the time the pain started, I had some mental issues with it. It scared me. Of course it did, how could it not? It was during lock down, so I couldn't get a Dr to look at me. The pain for bad. I turned to alcohol to help with the pain. Coupled with a Fiancé at the time, who was scared to even touch me after the surgery, and a painful break up with her cheating on me, yeah... Tough times!

The drinking continued after surgery, and became more and more. I wasn't sober a single day for over 2 years, and even after healing, I was still drinking. Long story shirt, I hit rock bottom, threatening my own like with a firearm, was hospitalized in a psyche ward, and now in AA and Therapy weekly. I am in a MUCH better place now.

Bottom line, DON'T think you're above this, or too "tough" to worry about it. You have no idea how mentally destructive this can be, especially if you have a partner who isn't 100% on your side. You feel alone, broken, changed, thoughts that no one will be with you again over this... There are times you will feel it will never get better. The acceptance of what it is, and the change you have no control over. It's real TRAUMA guys.

Don't be embarrassed, get help early if you are struggling a bit. Don't let it spiral and take you down like I allowed it to do.

This will be a challenge for you from day one forward. These forums are great to help, and get good advice.

Thanks for sharing this man, some very painful truths in there and I'm sure many can relate.

I'm sorry to hear your partner let you down, I would always remind people that women like that would probably cheat on you the second the going got tough in any department, i.e financial or other health concerns etc. She clearly couldn't be supportive regardless of the issue so I would hope you know it's not your fault.

I think the main thing to take away from this is that it is indeed a challenge, I certainly have faced continued mental health struggles since I first had pain etc and am seeing a therapist + on antidepressants.
To the outside world I am the same person, on the inside and to my close circle of loved ones I struggle.
What I will say though is that you're right, this does change you forever and that you can't help nor have no say in it, but you do get a say in is what that change is, you can let it break you or you can choose to let it build your character, to gain strength and resilience in ways you never before thought possible, it's possibly one of the crap worst experiences to go through as a man, but by the end of it, providing you keep fighting and keep moving forward, I firmly believe the new you, the new "normal" can be even better than before.

You are right daremo

That's why these urologists should also be psychologists or provide a session with a psychologist

Urologists sometimes lack this human side, to see his penis transformed or not being able to change his penis is very destructive mentally

I hope it will get better for you

This really resonates with me. I feel like I wake up with my battery at only about 35% and I can eek that out during the majority of the day to appear like I'm all good in front of others. But once I get home, I crash really really hard, every night. It's exhausting.

The mental health side of Peyronies Disease is extremely unique to everyone I feel, depending on their personal circumstances. Me, I've had a large number of extremely crappy  sexual experiences over the years that already had a huge effect on my confidence, performance, feelings of self worth, masculinity etc. So for me, Peyronies Disease on top of all that just feels beyond cruel, and I'm struggling really badly with it.

I'm genuinely happy for those on this forum who are owning this, accepting it and getting on with their lives. I only wish we could all feel a bit more like that.

Anyone else reading this and feeling the same, you're not alone, and this is a safe space to vent. We're all in this together.

In my case what is depressing is that the deformity is getting worse, it started 3 years ago with just a little dent and a slightly deviation to the left, now I have narrowing, hinge, deeper dent and torsion that start on the penis crus. I'm living in a nightmare, I spent over $4000 in fake therapies : Amniom and PRP shot, Shockwaves, heat and cold therapy..... just to get worse!!!!!. I believe what happened to me is a punishment for my previous behavior pre-penis damaged, I had a big, thick penis with lasting erections but I was very promiscuous and I treated my girlfriend at the time very bad, is karma. And the worst part is that there is no solution
My first symptoms started early in 2019
I tried Traction device, Pentofixiline, Q10, TRT, L-Argenine, cialis
I have narrowing/dent/hinge on the left side of my shaft
My ED is getting worse
Had a PRP shot Aug 2021
I have a girlfriend
Age 46

You are located in the US? You have the worlds best penile implant surgeon located there. You could have spent that on an implant by Dr.Eid and you would have been completely cured and most likely even have gained size. If you live in the US and can get in contact with him you need to do so urgently.

I see you all the time here saying there is no cure but he would cure you and even make your sex life better than prior to Peyronies and also completely solving the narrowing.
30 years. Sudden rightwards curve detected in June 2020
Narrowing on right side and about a 20° curve to the right.
ED + instability due to narrowing.

Implants can last from one day to 10 years, I'm not ready to get an implant and keep doing revisions, it will cost me a fortune and risk of infections. S
I see on an implant forum so many men having the implant for less than 5 years, is too short, implants are not as safe as you think

Firstly, you need to stop blaming yourself. You being with other women in the past whilst having a girlfriend did not make this happen to you. You are not being punished. We are not so special that the universe will pick on us for our mistakes, the universe doesn't care, its totally indifferent.
This happened to you because you were unlucky, like many others. Children get brain tumours without ever getting a chance in life, they do nothing wrong, it's just the shitpot lottery of life that is cruel and unfair, but also just totally random and not personal.
You blaming yourself is just an another part of the depression the disease is making you feel.
You think you got the disease because you did bad things, you then can't see any positive outcomes let alone a cure because again you don't think you deserve one. It's a vicious cycle mate.

Is the implant a total cure? No, it's a new normal and a positive solution for a lot of people. As are various other forms of surgery etc.

I don't expect that your life will change because some random guy on the Internet says this to you, but right now you're clearly in a very negative head space and you a) need to forgive yourself and b) allow hope of better days to come.

Even if an implant only last 5 years for some, it lasts 10 for others, and for some it'll be a life time solution with the proper steps and revisions taken. You're so convinced you're destined to be unlucky, when you might not.

You can't predict the future mate, unless you can, in which case dm me the lottery numbers and we can split it 🤣👍

I have read about such patients too. But not from Dr. Eid. I have not seen a single patient who did an implant by him specifically complain about anything, that's why I am mentioning him. He has a pretty much 100% success rate when it comes to implants and the good thing about him is he has high expertise when it comes to implants on Peyronies patients. Save up cash and go to him in the future.

He will fix all your issues. He's made countless of implants on peyronies patients with severe narrowing and completely saved their sexlife and also they even got bigger girth than what they did before the disease.

We feel your pain, you're definitely not alone with this disease.  It certainly helps to have someone to talk too.  I discuss with my friend I've had from second grade.  He don't just listen, he asks tons of questions.  I think I appreciate him more for asking those questions.

Sorry to hear your fiancé cheated.

This forum helps in more ways than one.  There's a good group of guys here to talk about anything.

As for Dr. Eid, he's just across the river from me!  Made me feel better just in case.  I've seen on YouTube his patients demonstrating their pumps.  I think it's absolutely amazing how they work.  On the other hand though I have read about the issues men have with them and replacing them.  I don't have one so I can't/won't speak negatively about it.

Anyway, keep on path.  Stay positive!

Be safe!

Thank you for sharing. Without repeating too much from my other posts. My Peyronies was caused by a freak accident. I had just got back to walking after 6 months and coming off the pain killers when I noticed the bend in my penis , which worsened pretty quickly . I bottled it up for 8 months before discussing it with my wife at that point the mental health issues improved, I also have a good friend at work who I opened up to and they are mega supportive. I definitely would not have got through it without them due to my mistrust of the layers of admin we have get through in the uk to get NHS (free) treatment. Having had the op , yes it is true you will never be exactly the same again mentally or physically but different isn't worse , it is just different. In the same way I notice the massive scar on my leg , I will always know my penis is different but I just embrace who I am now.
18 months into this. Upward curve of around 70 to 80 degrees.  Have tried steroid cream to no effect. Injury caused by an accident and then resulting scar tissue. Noticeable ridge and shortening. . Had surgery Jan 2024

I've struggled with the mental aspect of Peyronie's, and I can attest to the fact that it's not easy. It's a traumatic experience that can leave you feeling isolated, broken, and uncertain about the future.
Personally, I've found relief in using the Calmer app, particularly its guided meditation. Taking even a few minutes each day to center myself and practice mindfulness has made a noticeable difference in my overall well-being.
I don't know about others, but finding ways to care for your mental health is just as important as addressing the physical aspects of Peyronie's. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
