Hi to everyone. In your opinion, taking a lot of supplements can be dangeorus or the most important thing is not to take supplements over the recommended dose?

It's a too general question, one should probably do some research on each one, case by case basis . Synthetic vitamins e.g. A, E could do more harm than good, and some might depend on combinations e.g. B vitamins work together or D is best with K2
Age 57, Onset 2010, 2" shortening, shrinking and angulation of glans, weaker erections, 30 degree bend. Mild pain few months, but far from worst symptom. Tried many ideas, not just from here, but not consistently. Moderate improvement, maybe 40%

I've been on these boards for a long time - going on 20 years. And I can tell you, we've had one guy who really thought vitamins/supplements were the key to everything - he had all sorts of protocols which were constantly evolving and he must have been spending thousands a year on all the vitamins/supps he was taking. He claimed results, and I have no reason to doubt him.

But I can tell you that I can't remember anyone else who seriously claimed that any supplements/vitamins improved their condition. Now, it's entirely possible that someone's condition improved while they were taking supplements, but there's just no way to connect the two. And Dr. Trost's words on vitamins/supplements reinforce this - there's simply no verifiable proof that they do anything for a condition as specific and localized as Peyronies Disease.

I think the best course of action is to try to eat healthy - taking in the vitamins and minerals through food that you're looking for (anti-inflammatory, etc.). There are studies that show - just recently - that supplements really don't do anything, they're mostly excreted through urine, yet we spend millions every year on them.

Not trying to be a negative Nancy, just want to make the point that taking them is probably of little value - but certainly don't "over take" them, beyond what is even recommended. You're just not going to reverse Peyronies Disease damage through something that goes through your mouth. Not at this point anyway. Maybe someday.

51 yrs. old, multiple auto-immune conditions. First episode of Peyronies Disease in 2002. Recurred a couple times since. Over the years I have tried Topical Verapamil, Iontophoresis, all the supps and Cialis + Pentoxifylline. Still functional, always worried.

Thank you very much. nemo: what is your opinion about direct injections into the plaques?

Direct injection of what - Xiaflex? Well, it's FDA approved and no doubt works in some cases. It's certainly not 100%, and hasn't revolutionized Peyronies Disease treatment like we all hoped it would back in 2014, but if I was at a point where it was either injections or surgery - and if insurance covered it - I would probably give the injections a try.

By the way, this was the recent study I recalled reading. Americans spend $50 Billion a year on supplements and according to the panel studying this, they say, "If they really worked, we'd know by now."
