Bend in penis when semi erect

When my penis is erect there is no noticeable bend.  When it becomes semi erect the bend is quite pronounced  Id say about 45 degrees.  When its flaccid it goes straight again.  Is this normal for peyronies.

Hello. Your info. says that you were diagnosed today.

What is the bend like when fully erect?

No deformity or ED. Discomfort (which is improving gradually). Months of stress preceded symptoms. Discomfort can be palpated on practically the whole penis but it comes and goes. I can't find plaque. Latest urologist doubts that it is Peyronies Disease.

When my penis is erect there is no noticeable bend.  Its only noticeable when semi erect.  But I have pain/discomfort all the time.

Thanks for the link.  My condition seems to fit in with hard flaccid syndrome.  However, the urologist examined me and said he could feel plaque at the base of the penis and said I had peyronies.  He said I didnt need treatment at the moment and he will see me again in 6 months.

Can you feel plaque?
I was told in January by a urologist that I had "a good chance" (gee, thanks) of having early Peyronies Disease based on discomfort. He also said that he thought he could feel "early scarring" near the glans (the discomfort was not located there...). Was told to come back in 6 months. Last month I visited a Urologist- not the same one... (one of the very few that has published on Hard flaccid syndrome). The verdict - very unlikely to be Peyronies Disease. No focal pain, no erect curve, no erect pain, no ED. Still very confused but much less upset than I was after seeing the first urologist... My discomfort can be quite widely distributed, can move and can come and go and even disappear, particularly at night. Not easy to fathom. Perhaps I should stop trying.
I wish you all the best.

Hi Jimmy123, I seem to be in a similair position to you.  At least I've narrowed it down to hard flaccid syndrome or Peyronies.  My GP thought there may be a psycological component to the pain.  The pain is very real so I could not see how this could be the case.  But since having the diagnosis and finding this forum the pain seems to have lessened and my mood has lifted.  Maybe the GP was right, since pain is subjective perhaps some people can handle pain better than others.

I can't feel the plaque myself.  I am to frightened to press hard incase I make it worse.

So interesting that you should mention what your GP said, Kevin. I had had similar advice from GP and another more specifically qualified clinician. Look up Somaticisation. It can be linked to anxiety and stress? Such pain is apparently real, not imagined but I also have a hard job thinking that what I am experiencing does not have a physiological cause.

A couple of thoughts; some are sort of gleaned from my understanding of Dr Trost's posts here. Does your pain localise to where the supposed plaque is? Does the bend, albeit flaccid, fit with where the "plaque" is? Does the pain move or is it located in a single focal point? Is it associated with localised spasmimg of the penile "muscle"? It is less obvious when you wake up at night?

Keep in mind that I'm no expert and could be completely wrong, and we both could have Peyronies Disease. However, I do wonder about urologists diagnosing Peyronies Disease apparently casually. It's a clinical diagnosis and in some cases you only need pain or discomfort for them to go in that direction. To some men such a diagnosis is totally devastating. It was to me. The first urologist looked surprised when I told him that the discomfort was flaccid only. I also told him that at the time the pain was deep at the base of the penis near the urethra. Nowhere near the below glans location where he though the early scarring was. This is I believe not what you would see with Peyronies Disease.

I doubt that absolute certainly is possible in diagnosis unless there is an obvious and consistent erect bend with obvious palpable plaque. Pain is I understand an uncommon symptom in Peyronies Disease, particularly flaccid pain.

Dr Trost lists anxiety as a possible cause of what he terms hard flaccid syndrome. As far as I can tell, HFS is not a single entity but rather a current shorthand categorisation.

The urologist said the plaque is near the base of the penis.  I have been unable to locate it myself, I'm scared of pressing to hard incase I aggravate it.  So I'm not sure if the pain and bend are consistent with the plaque.  I do notice the pain has eased off when I wake up, it tends to start when I'm moving around.  I don't think I've had spasaming of the penile muscle.

The Somaticisation seems to make sense, I've had anxiety/depression for years and am on anti-depressants.
The pain is my main concern, when I'm in pain my life is on hold and I just focus on the pain.  When I'm not in pain I'm just waiting for it to come back.  The pain is all over the penis area but mainly on the right hand side of the shaft.  I don't know if this is the focal point.

If a basal plaque were causing the bend, the bend would likely have a basal element to it.

Is the flaccid deformity a right hand curve?

I have see people here complain of long-term pain and little deformity then it turns out that they have OCD, depression, serious anxiety.

I'm only proposing that the physiological element to pain - in one of- it not the- most important and heavily innervated part if a man's body, should not be minimized.

All of the above is caveatted that I claim zero expertise.

Even though the pain is on the right the bend is to the left, about 45 degrees I would say.  I do have severe anxiety I take beta blockers (propanolol).  Interestingly I also have OCD.  Maybe I'll just have to be patient and see what develops.

-A plaque on the right hand side should result in a right handed bend, a dorsal plaque- an upward bend, etc.
-Do a search for OCD on the forum. Patience is good but not if you are extremely anxious and that is causing your pain- then talk therapy is probably best.
-I'm 8 months down the line now from the start of this all. Still no obvious curve but have been though a lot of stress and anxiety.

Thanks Jimmy,  I did a search for OCD and got 4 pages of results, so plenty to read.  I realise whether I have HFS or Peyronies, or neither, my anxiety and OCD are complicating the condition.

You sound like to have a balanced and mature attitude to this. Something I aspire to.
