I am 59 years old, married, diagnosed with peyronies April 2022.  I don't recall any specific injury during sex.  I had severe covid with pneumonia in early February 2022.  Noticed major narrowing of the base of my penis in late March.  Also, it is noticeably shorter.  There is no bend on the shaft, just bends at the base/body joint to the left about 20 degrees.  So far, I am taking L-argenine, using Restorex traction, and Osbon VED.  It's only been a few weeks, but I haven't noticed any changes yet.  I have been on antidepressants for many years and because of that, I have been on Cialis to help counter the negative side effects (moderate ED).  I absolutely need the antidepressants, unfortunately.  ED got worse after peyronies, but improved somewhat when Cialis dose was increased.  I am blessed with a very supportive and understanding wife.  Like so many of you, the psychological effect of all of this has been extremely difficult.

This site has helped me realize that there are many other men who are dealing with the same thing, and I am very thankful that this forum is available.  It is also helpful to hear the experiences of those who have tried various treatments and the results.

Welcome to the site. The mental aspect is so damn tough.

In a attempt to manage my long-term stress around the situation, I one day googled stuff like "Foods that help with stress" or "Foods to avoid stress". I changed my diet accordingly and tried to regulate my cortisol. After about a month or two of adding a diet aspect to my routine, the stress was still there, but it felt much more manageable. Just throwing it out there in case you may be eating foods that could be intensifying an already very stressful situation.

It is interesting that your peyronies lined up with a severe case of COVID with pneumonia. I wouldn't be surprised if they're somehow connected. Like your body was thrown out of wack and didn't heal in the same way it did before. You never know.

Also in terms of erectile dysfunction, if you're watching porn and masturbating, now is the time to stop cold turkey. That includes looking at porn in order to check your erection quality. That's my suggestion anyway.

Otherwise man, I just wish you all the best lol. I know this is super tough.

PS. Do you have any favorite movies or books? If so which ones?

Welcome Swampman to the forum!  Here you are among a great group of men 9 and a few wives who know what you are dealing with.  Thank you for filling out your signature line. You will get more responses from members because of your current regimen.  If you haven't done so you can download and read our survival guide --> https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3180.msg44057.html#msg44057 .  This will give you a lot of information surrounding peyronies.

It is great you have an understanding wife to help you through this,  I also have one too who understands things and is supportive. You need to keep your thinking into perspective as this disease is best viewed with a "marathon" type of approach. I have been doing traction for over 1 1/2 years now and has become a part of my daily routine.  I am aware of the side effects of antidepressants causing erection problems.  Have you tried different ones out to see if they don't cause it?  Also the supplements in the survival guide are worth a try and the Cialis will help with bringing in fresh oxygenated blood and facilitate healing. Good to have you here!   :) Mikel7

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys.
mikel7:  Yes I have tried many other antidepressants and effexor (venlafaxine) is the only one that seems to work for me.
dan1:  I am trying to lose weight and have lost 20 lbs already with a low carb diet, for now.  I stopped drinking alcohol and watching porn over two years ago on March 15, 2020.
I also believe that covid had a direct influence on my getting peyronies, but that is just my humble opinion, I don't have any evidence of it.
Even with a good wife, the emotional/psycological burden is very difficult.
Thank you all for your support.

The amount of mind power it takes to lose those first 20 pounds is considerable and so I commend you for that. Giving up alcohol and porn at the same time must of made it a even bigger overall challenge for your body. Though you're battling depression, I do see willpower in you. You wouldn't have been able to make those changes if you didn't. So great job.

This blanket recommendation is reckless since I don't know enough about you, but I'd say try getting even 5% healthier. Whether that's through more exercise or though further improvement of your diet. It's like if you believe COVID may have had something to do with you getting peyronies, then why not for shits and giggles, see what your body can do if it's supercharged on health?

Also maybe ask the wife if she'll take you to see Top Gun Maverick, which is a awesome movie. I could be overstepping my bounds, so I apologize if I am, but you asking her for a favor, one that's completely separate from your physical struggles, could be a way to let her have a win, while also giving you the opportunity to watch some awesome aerial combat lol.
