Following a couple of years dealing with Peyronies Disease I finally had plication surgery on April 29, 2022 at UT Southwestern Urology in Dallas Texas. My Dr. was Allen Morey. So far (only 2.5 weeks out) everything has gone much smoother than expected. I've had no pain at the incision sight. I took a prescription pain killer about 3 hours after the surgery but didn't feel like I needed it. Most of my problems were related to the bandaging.
The surgical wrap used is that stretchy fabric that clings to itself well but does not feel sticky. It's easy to wrap this bandage too tight causing much discomfort. The fix is easy, just unwrap it and rewrap it more loosely. My bandage was wrapped too tightly initially and I called the Dr. in much pain about 4 hours after surgery. I got the OK to rewrap it. My pain went from a 7-8 on a 10 point scale to a 2-3 in just an hour. I took one Tylenol before going to bed that night and never took another pill for pain after that.
The bandage does stick to the skin and some of the bandage must be in contact with the skin or it will slide off. Pealing the bandage off the skin is quite uncomfortable but must be done slowly and carefully. A gauze pad is over the incision. That does not stick.
Erections will wake you up. I get more at night than I ever knew and every time, I have to get up and go to the bathroom. That gets rid of it. The bandage had to be used for 9 days. During that time I also had to rewrap the bandage to releave the adhesive tension and pressure of the bandage.
All these bouts of pain I am mentioning are short lived, not something you would take medication for. And other than these short moments, I felt great, able to do most anything the day after and on. The Dr. even said there are no physical limitations after surgery. But use your head. I would not recommend horse back riding the first 2 weeks.
Strangely, seems like I'm getting more and longer lasting erections than before surgery. I used to take 100 mg of Sildenafil (viagra) to get sufficient erection for sex. I still have 3.5 weeks before I can test it out (I have not been to able penetrate for 7 months now).
My first recommendation for those considering this procedure, don't watch any videos of this surgery! I saw glimpses and that was enough to give me chills. It's hard for us lay people to understand how this can work so well. I had about a 45 degree kink, now its about 10 degrees and looks very useable, albeit shorter.
Will provide an update in a few weeks.
