Hi There, I've been reading information on this forum for a week or so now as a guest and thought it was time to introduce myself.

Age?: 36

What did your medical doctor conclude?: My GP suspects Peyronies Disease. I have a referral with a urologist who specializes in Peyronies Disease and ED but since I'm in Canada it will be another 4-5 months before I even get evaluated by a urologist, let alone receive treatment.

How long have you had symptoms?: First noticed 8-10 weeks ago. My first symptoms also closely followed resolution of a COVID-19 infection in Mid-January 2022. Not sure if that's related but I cannot recall any recent penile injury and I did find a study following another patient who developed Peyronies Disease after COVID.

What are your symptoms?: 1-2cm plaque just below the glans on the lower-right hand side of the penis, causing indentation and a 5 to 10 degree curve when erect. Mild and intermittent pain when both soft and erect (2/10 pain scale) No ED currently.

What treatments have you tried and what were the results? : None yet, my primary reason for posting here is to learn more about available treatments while I wait to see a specialist. In addition to my urologist referral, I have an upcoming consult with a men's clinic that does Shockwave Therapy but I'm skeptical of it's merit. I'm considering the Peyronies Disease cocktail described on the forum but just as much I'm interested in what not to do to make things worse. For example, Is normal sexual activity/masturbation helpful? harmful? or of no benefit?

Do you have insurance or means to get medical treatment?: Yes

where are you in dealing with the psychological aspects of Peyronies Disease?: For the past 2 weeks I have been furiously googling information on the disease and potential treatments. Right now, because my case is new and mild I am feeling hopeful but cautious, understanding that symptoms can vary wildly between patients and over time.

Are you in a relationship?: Yes

Welcome TurnRightAhead to the forum.  Thank you for filling out your signature line. This will give other members a quick glance into your situation. You also need to download and study our survival guide --> https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3180.msg44057.html#msg44057 . This guide is filled with the most information about peyronies and it's treatments.

It sounds like you have something going on with your indentation and mild pain. You will have a better confirmation on this after your Dr's appointment. Hopefully you will have an ultrasound done then. I would suggest studying the survival guide and making yourself a list of questions to ask your new Dr.

I would suggest refraining from sex or cutting back on it if it causes you pain. It can make things worse for some individuals and you will know for yourself after trial and error. I would also say no to the shockwave therapy as many members here have tried it with little to no success and it costs a lot of $$.

Taking the supplements listed in the survival guide can be of some benefit. Daily Cialis is great at reducing inflammation and assisting erections plus bringing in fresh oxygen. You could also look into VED therapy and gentle traction.  The PMP and the Restorex are the two most used devices here with success backed up with studies done. You just don't want to loose length and girth from peyronies and these devices can help prevent that. You might also try heat therapy as this can also help - I have used it a lot when I have been in pain.

Psychologically you need to get things into perspective and don't jump on the worry bandwagon. You need to get a plan and work at it. This entire disease is best approached with the mindset of it is a marathon and not a sprint. Talking tings over with your partner can be a good start in relieving your worrying mind. We have all been down the beginners road and I can say that things can and do get better but don't expect it overnight. Also remeber that if your upcoming Dr's visit doesn't satisfy you then seek out another one. There are a lot of Dr's who say they specialize in this or that but don't have a clue regarding peyronies and it's proper treatment.  By the way we do have Dr Trost here who invented the Restorex and is highly respected in the area of peyronies and you have free access to ask him questions.     Welcome

Thanks for the welcome Mikel7.

Regarding pain; normal sexual activity does not cause pain and I have not yet had difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection.
My pain is intermittent and occurs randomly throughout the day for a few minutes to an hour at a time. I suspect it correlates to inflammation at site of the plaque and I'm curious to know it achieving erections during the day is good or bad for that type of inflammation?

Mentally, my initial reaction to discovering symptoms and doing research has been to treat each erection like it may be my last.
In my first week after starting research I began trying to manually stretch my penis by hand while flaccid but now I worry that I'm doing nothing at best and potentially exacerbating the scar tissue at worst.

My biggest frustration centers around the fact that I won't be able to get professional medical help for 4-5 months, during which my condition will likely progress though this is also the time where early intervention could be most beneficial.

Normal erections are good because it keeps things stretched out and brings in fresh oxygenated blood. I would never recommend traction by hand because you could do much damage. I would suggest starting with gentle traction like the PMP to prevent shortening progression.

Hello, if the plaque is hard you can use vitamin E cream twice a day. Vitamin E cream 10,000 IU soften my plaque up pretty much that you can't even see it without an erection anymore.  I'm not a doctor but my urologist suggested I use that and so far it worked out pretty good. The discomfort just lingers a little bit once in a while.
I have a girlfriend
Age 48, No injury
Diagnosis January 2022
Six plaques
Hourglassing when flaccid and semi-erect
Only have my congenital curve
Massaging with vitamin E cream twice a day
