I need help brothers!

I'm day 8 post op and overall things are going well.

However I have two fairly big issues:

1) lying down I'm almost pain free. Standing up however and walking is a different kettle of fish. It's agony. So much so I collapse on the nearest sofa panting for breath: I assume it is because my scrotum is hanging low and is not being supported enough: I bough some jockstraps yesterday but they don't fit! My right testicle barely fits and as I'm 50% pumped my glands pretude and as they are still sore it's a no go. I am wearing tight boxers but I'm still in pain. Any ideas?

2) my pump is VERY low. So much so that if I sit on a chair the first thing to hit the chair is the pump. Is this normal? I'm guessing it's position can't really be manipulated? If not how do you guys cope once you are healed? Is it noticeable?

Thanks

Hi Jimmi

1) The pain when standing is completely normal at your stage along the process of healing. Think about it - you've had your sack sliced open, rods forced through the internals of your dick, alien objects inserted into you where there was only flesh before, a cuboid of plastic switch and a pump put into an area where previously there were only 2 balls - all this 8 days ago where things had been the same for 30 years. Your body has undergone trauma and you are feeling the results of it now. It WILL all come good in time.

I lay for day after day on my sofa watching anything I could on TV. Lying down was easy and relatively pain free. I didn't wear underwear at all as I found it far too restrictive in the early stages. I was pumped up fully for 10 days prior to first deflation. I wore massively oversized jogging bottoms.

Any time I needed the toilet or to walk to the kitchen to make a coffee or snack, I had an overwhelming dull, horrible, pain. Like, total agony. I did a lot of heavy breathing and swearing and would move as fast as I could to lie down again where I knew the pain would ease.

So, what you describe is completely normal and relatable for me. Nothing for you to worry about.

2)Yes, the pump ball (3rd ball as I used to call it) is the lowest point of your sack and will sit, by gravity, below your testicles. Again, nothing to be concerned about. It's only an issue for you just now due to the trauma your whole ball sack has been through and how sensitive it is. This too shall pass.

You're doing great and should not be worried about either.

Jimmi.
I understand the pain.
Some of us feel pain more intensely than others.
Finding the right underwear was a huge challenge for me.
I tried boxers, compression shorts, briefs, thongs, you name it.
I found a tight brief that kept my penis upward was best.
I wore some nylon type briefs that allowed space for my ball/pump sac, but kept my penis in place.
Lately I am wearing a synthetic boxer that is snug for my penis but still allows my ball sac flexibility.
Good luck and hope you find relief, but fittings are so different as the male anatomy is so different.

Hey Jimmi, I can totally relate but at 8 days I think you must still have a lot of swelling (I know I did).  My pump is very low as well, but I like it that way (once I healed) as it is easy to use with minimal impact to the testicles.  I think as your healing progresses things will get a lot better.

Thanks everyone, I'm aware it's pretty normal so I'm not overly concerned.

What I have noticed is if I overdo it a bit in terms of activity I don't sleep well and am in more pain the next day. Yesterday I left the house to get some lunch which included a 15 minute drive and today I'm in considerably more pain. I'm assuming it's just my body's way of telling me to take it easy and slow down?

I am acutely aware my recovery might be a little longer than others due to my diabetes so like I said I'm quite happy with my progress given I'm only 11 days out.

Jimmi85,

Are you pulling on your pump? If you read the journals, many surgeons (or at least dr eid) suggest pulling down on the pump to help it separate from the testicle.  I believe it will happen randomly one day when you pull on it, please search through journals about this and email your doctor.

No I'm not. And I'm pretty sure doctor Eid advises against pulling on the pump. In his opinion, as I understand it, the pump will generally only attach to the testicle when there is an infection. Mine isn't attached to the testicle as far as I can tell.

My doctor hasn't mentioned anything about pulling on the pump either:
