I don't know whether this is the right place, or if this kind of post is allowable, if it breaks any rules then just tell me and I will delete.

I'm in my mid 30s, and I have a dorsal congenital curvature. My penis is otherwise fully functional with zero pain. I am able to have sex in positions where the woman is facing me with no problems, anything from any other angle doesn't really work. My ex hinted that she was bored of having missionary sex all the time and wanted doggy but I was unable. I recently saw a urological surgeon to enquire about the possibility of surgery. He said it would be fine to have the Nesbit procedure but, as a good doctor should, he informed me of the risk of sensitivity loss, the risk of recurrence, and complete erectile dysfunction. The stats he was quoting me were higher than I was expecting. I know he is only one surgeon and the world is full of urological surgeons but this guy does these procedures frequently and is highly rated. Anyway, the surgeon is not really the point of this. The point is, I'm not happy with my curve, never have been, but if I were to get this surgery and it went wrong, I would never forgive myself. And having lurked on this forum for some time now, I know there are tons of people who opted for surgery and now regret it. But if I went for it and it went right, I would be indescribably happy and proud of my dick for the first time in my life.

I know everyone is different but, what are some of the factors one should consider before committing to surgery? Part of me feels that, I can have sex, I don't have any problems, I should just learn to love my dick and try and find someone who loves my dick too, and just forget about surgery. Another part of me feels like life is about taking chances and I should just go for it. I really don't know what to do. If anyone could share some of the questions they asked themselves, or had any advice, I would be very grateful.

I am only one person with a very unfortunate story, but from my point of view if you are able to have enjoyable intercourse, I wouldn’t risk surgery.

Without further information I couldn't even offer an opinion. I only recommend surgery in cause with severe curvature, and then only as a last resort. There are many factors including degree of curvature, angle, direction, length, etc. etc.

If your upward curve is over 45 degrees then I would say the benefits outweigh the disadvantages of a simple Nesbit. Please note that if over 45 degrees you may still want a slight upward curve, don’t tell your surgeon to make you arrow straight. Leave like 10 degree up, so you don’t lose more length.

Thank you for your reply. When you say 'severe', what do you mean? And you say 'as a last resort' are there any other options besides living with it?

Degree of curvature: Hard to say but I would estimate between 30 & 40 degrees
Angle: No lateral deviation, i.e. straight up
Length: About 7 inches erect, I'd guess

With this additional information, does this change your opinion in any way?

Out of interest, why is 45 degrees the threshold for you?

The Nesbit procedure is less invasive and can correct curves in that range 20-40 degrees. A severe curve is one that is 50 degrees or more. This usually requires something more invasive to correct. Read my history if you want an example.
