introducing my story

gennaro

I'm 61 years old now. All started a couple of years ago with a little indentation and bend on the left I noticed suddenly one morning. No apparent trauma that I remember, but a month or two of pain at the end of the shaft just below the gland, and a medium prostatitis preceded the unfortunate discover. I've seen 3 urologist since then. The first said that it was Peyronie and that he didn't treat that kind of disease. He sent me to another doctor (not a specialized one) that tried to treat me with procaine (once called gerovital) injections on the penis (many). First 500€, no result. The pain got better for a while but the disease followed its way. Then a second urologist that proposed me Verapamil treatment but I didn't followed that. I had just heard of the magic of Xiaflex and I hoped it could do the spell, it was the beginning of 2019 summer. Estimated cost at the time was about 6000€ for 3 injections. Quite a lot, but, you know... I've started with a third urologist, that prescribed me an eco-color-doppler, caverjet to see the curvature, photos, everything seemed to work as expected, but at the beginning of November when we had to start the 3-4 injection of Xiapex treatment he told me that the producer had withdrawn it from the market everywhere except the US, and the price had risen to 6000-7000 USD because it has been proved very useful for cellulite treatment, apparently a much more appealing market. Other 700€ for me to pay without any result. Then started the covid-19 nightmare, the lockdown and restrictions to do lots of things. My problem got worse and I could not find any help. Now the bend is between 70-80 degrees when the erection is at its best, with an hourglass at the shaft basis, the penis is thinner and shorter, and every morning I wake up at 5 due to the pain (well is more a kind of discomfort or slight pain, but sufficient to wake me up). I still can have some sexual intercourse with my very patient wife, but the fear that something worst can happen at any moment is always present (breaking of the penis for example). And I skip all the emotional, psychological, male gender related problems that I suppose you all are well aware of. Conclusion: I'm stuck in my situation and out of move. I don't trust very much webstar urologists (the last was one of, an expensive one also) and anyway I don't know any urologist specialized in Peyronie treatment that works in my town (Rome, Italy), nor my family physician does. And I don't know what to do at my stage, that after 2 years I suppose is quite advanced. Any idea? Any physician's name in Rome that you could suggest me to contact? Anything I could start to do? I've done some manual traction, but it seems a very long way (if it works and if it safe, I'm not sure of both things...). Any help would be much appreciated. It's really weird for me to ask these things on a website, but who knows?

First welcome Gennaro the forum! You are not being weird by asking/sharing your questions on the forum - this is where men can find some guidance and help to this awful disease. First you need to fill out your signature line -->  https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,10819.0.html   We cannot remember your case details out of 20,000 members.

Replace this text with critical info about your case
such as age
first symptoms (deformity, Erectile Dysfunction)
official diagnosis
treatments tried
relationship status
Etc

Next you should download and study the survival guide --> https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3180.msg44057.html#msg44057 .  This guide will give you a detailed understanding about peyronies and related issues.
You can also use the search function of the forum and read about other members treatments and experiences.

I'm sorry you have experienced peyronies and cannot find a competent Dr.  It can be difficult to find a peyronies Dr to begin with.  Maybe you can print out the survival guide and take it with you to your Dr and discuss some ot he the treatments included.
I would look into traction therapy first and possibly look into purchasing a Restorex device or the PMP. I would steer clear of manual traction as you cannot guage the level of tension .  We are very fortunare here to have Dr Trost on board.  He is the developer of the Restorex and is a great guy and extremely knowledgeable regarding such. You could also look into using VED therapy also. Search the forum for the protocol that is implemented here to avoid any further damage to your penis.
I have also used heat therapy to help with pain and healing. Cialis is also used quite frequently
for it's anti inflammatory response and aiding erection's and bringing in fresh oxygen.

It is awesome that your wife is supportive in this for you! She can be a great comfort and help as I also have the same relationship with mine.
Be encouraged and study the forum and survival guide. Hopefully some of the other members can chime in as to a peyronies Dr in your part of the country.  My Best :)  Mikel7
