Implant revision 10/26/2021 by Dr Eid

I had my implant revision done by Dr Eid on 10/26. The recovery has been going well and the swelling and bruising is less from when I had the first implant done. Dr Eid replaced my 15 CM + 1rte CX with a 20cm + 1rte Titan. The surgery went well, but took 3.5 hrs to complete rather than the 2 hrs Dr Eid expected. The reason it went longer was because the previous surgeon who put in the CX had shorted the cylinder measurements and since the tips didn't reach the glans scar tissue had filled in the empty space in the glans and Dr Eid had to work through it being very careful not to damage the urethra. He also rather than remove the reservoir from the CX was able to reuse it with the Titan. His reason for that is that it's tricky removing the old reservoir depending on where it was placed and could potentially cause a vascular injury. Thankfully I had a skilled surgeon doing this operation!

Dr Eid said the recovery with a revision would not be as bad as the first implant. So far he's right about that. Though I have swelling on my scrotum and penis I don't have the bruising like I did on the first one and the swelling has already gone down quite a bit. I can also now feel the tips of the cylinders in the glans where they belong!

My penis had always had a curve to the left even before Peyronies and Dr Eid wasn't happy about the curve in my follow up appointment with him the day after surgery where he also removed the catheter. It looked much worse with the swelling and because of that he inflated the Titan about 60% and wants it to stay like that until I can inflate and deflate the pump. After icing it and taking my first bath today it still has a curve but nothing like it was the day after surgery. After removing the catheter he also left my artificial sphincter deactivated because of the swelling so that means I have to wear Depends again until I can reactivate it. During the bath I could feel the sphincter pump, but will wait another day before reactivating it. I could also feel the Titan pump and it's much lower than where the CX pump was. I wasn't able to feel the deactivate button on it yet though.

Being from Massachusetts the drive home after my appointment was long but uneventful. Other than 1 Percocet the night of the surgery and 1 for the ride home I've been taking Tylenol the last couple of days and haven't needed anything today.

I was very happy when Dr Eid gave me his cell number to keep in touch. I called him the other night around 8:00 and was surprised when he picked up. He answered my questions and I've since texted him a couple of times and he's responded right away. I'm very thankful for finding this site and learning about Dr Eid here! As has been mentioned many times on this site finding the most qualified surgeon for this type of surgery is very important.

Wow,  It is astounding you got an implant 5 CM longer.  It is criminal that another surgeon would short you that much.  THAT IS 2" !!

Hawk, I agree it should be criminal with mis-sizing an implant but it would be very difficult to prove negligence. I did make the hospital where I had the previous surgery aware of their surgeons incompetence earlier this year and will follow up with them again now that Dr Eid has correctly sized my implant.

Pfract, when I spoke with Dr Eid the first time I asked if he could use any of the original implants parts and he said he doesn't generally do that. During the course of my operation where it took more time to work on the glans to get the tips of the cylinders in due to the scar tissue buildup. Dr Eid felt it best to reuse the reservoir rather than risk further injury removing it and increasing surgery time.

I'm in my 5th day of recovery now. I was able to activate the artificial sphincter pump this morning during my bath which is great for me in that I don't need to where Depends anymore! The new Titan pump is very low in my sack behind my left nut now. My previous implant pump was higher in front of the left nut so feeling for the new pump is taking a little time to get used to. Though I can feel the new pump while taking baths I still can not feel the deactivation button yet. I think as the swelling subsides that it will become easier to do. No pain meds were needed the last couple of days.

Did you receive a key-ring full-size model of the pump?  It helps a lot when first orienting yourself to the deflation valve.

Yes I did receive the model of the pump and it does help. Once the swelling goes down some more it should make it easier.

I'm in day 9 of my recovery and everything is going well. I reactivated my artificial sphincter on Monday and it was great to get out of having to wear Depends! Most of the swelling has gone down and I've started cycling the implant every day since Tuesday. Though the pump ball is hard I've been able to press it enough to fill the cylinders. Now when I have an erection it's great to look down and not see the head flopped over and down as it was on my previous mis-sized CX. Finding the deflate button has given me the most trouble. The button on the Titan is smaller than the CX's, but as the swelling continues to go down I'm sure it'll get easier to find.

I'll post more info as my recovery progresses.

I assume you are cycling while laying in a hot bath.

Once you find the deflate button let go and then immediately go to it again.  Do this 10 times in a minute and it will educate your hand (muscle memory) much like playing an instrument or other skill where the hand reacts before you even have time to think.

Once you get proficient laying down, find the deflate button then while still holding it stand up and repeat the same drill.  It will only take a couple of days before you can go right to it with no problem.

Thanks Hawk. I've tried both laying back in the tub and standing. Laying back in the tub is easier and I will continue to do it that way for now. I'm getting better inflating and deflating. Not having my fingers slip off(Ouch!)nearly as much makes a big difference!

I had intercourse at 21 days post-op.  I had only ever deflated, laying relaxed in a tub of water.  The sex was great, but when it was over, I needed to deflate NOW!  I had trouble finding the deflate button standing up.  I did not feel like going through much trial and error, so I ran hot water and immediately jumped in the tub to deflate.  AAaaahhhh! Sweet relief!

That's when I did drills standing up, so I never had to do that again.

Hawk, my wife and I were talking yesterday about when we could start having sex again and we also set an 21 day mark for us to begin! Until then it's cycle cycle cycle!

Quick update on my progress after revision surgery. It's been almost 4 weeks since the surgery and all is well. This recovery  was much easier than when I had my first implant. The swelling and bruising was much less and other than a couple of Percocet's the day after surgery for my ride home from NY I  only used Advil for a couple of days after. The hot baths also helped in reducing the swelling.

I've been cycling twice a day for 3 weeks now and have been able to cycle standing up now rather than in the tub. The most important news is that my wife and I have resumed having sex!!! We're both really happy with how the Titan has straightened the droopy head I had with my previous implant and it also has given me more girth than I had before.

We're so happy and grateful that we found out about Dr Eid here. We've got a lot to be thankful for this year.

It's been 8 weeks since my revision and things continue to be going very well. I'm very happy with the Titan and with the cycling I have seen some gains in length and girth.

The recovery from the revision has been much easier than when I had the original implant done.

You are one of only 3 men who have ever posted on the forum that had both a Coloplast and a Boston Scientific (AMS) implant.

I know your BS implant was undersized but I am wondering about your comparison (pump size, pump operation, penis deflated, penis inflated.  Care to share?

Based on my experience with the AMS CX and Coloplast Titan implants I definitely like the Titan better. Although, due to my original surgeon undersizing the CX I never got to fully see the benefits and feel what a correctly sized CX was like so I'll do my best to compare both implants.

The BS CX pump is larger and where it was positioned in front of my left testicle and just below the penis shaft in my scrotum put it close to where my artificial sphincter pump is on the right front. Whenever my scrotum shrunk due  stress, cold weather, etc the size of the CX pump made it difficult to get at the sphincter pump. My Titan pump now sits low in my sack not near the sphincter pump which makes everything much better and easier to get at. Both the CX and Titan pumps took a little to get used to. I think to squeeze the Titan pump in the beginning is a little harder than the CX, but after cycling it a few times it gets easier and became the same as the CX.

Deflating the Titan is also little harder to get used to because the deflate button on it is smaller and more difficult to find in the beginning. Again after cycling a few times it gets easier and I'm not having any trouble now. When deflated my penis is definitely larger now and I can see the folds on the cylinders which is understandable given I went from a 15cm CX to a 20cm Titan. Seeing the folds when deflated is not an issue for me, the folds go away when fully inflated and a straight and fully inflated penis is the reason we all go through this journey.

As far as inflated appearances my Titan obviously looks better. I have more length and girth and no more droopy head. The girth on my CX when inflated may also have been less due to my surgeon not inflating it until 6 weeks after surgery. With the Titan I began cycling 7 days after surgery .

I'm obviously biased towards the Titan now, but with a qualified skilled surgeon I think that a BS implant would be just as good.

TheBoykinLady, I'm still doing very well thanks. The new implant has allowed my wife and I to get back to having normal relations again and we are thankful for that.

I know your husband has been dealing with issues with his implant and I'm hoping that things get better soon for him. After the problems I had from my first implant I went through a rollercoaster of emotions before having the revision done so I know how frustrating it can be searching for answers. Hopefully his doctor will be able to answer and correct the issues he's been having.
