Has anyone tried crushing a verapamil tablet and mixing it with lotion.   I noticed they only cost 5 dollars at river pharmacy.  I do not mind paying a compounding lab in the US but I am allergic to alcohol, so it usually is easier to just make the topicals myself rather than go back and forth with the doctor and pharmacy for days and days about my unique situation..  (almost all topical creams have alcohol as a preservative)

Taking the pills orally might help too, but not sure about side effects.

I am trying to loosen hard/sore scar tissue from surgery, so not really perronies in my case. If this is the wrong forum my appologies

thanks.

Maybe you could try with DMSO cream. Im intrigued by the possibilties of mixing that with certain things.

DMSO is a solvent so I am concerned about how safe it would be on the penis.

I have also had good luck eliminating pain by mixing a benadryl tablet with lotion and applying it topically.   I am surprised antihistimines are not discussed on this forum.  They are excellent for reducing genital inflammation  The effect is immediate.  I can not take them orally because I have a prostate problem, but the topical works well as long as the tablet filler material is water soluble.   My doctor recommends it to many of his female patients as he is an expert in vulvodynia (vaginal pain).

If I take a cox-2 inhibitor (like tylenol or advil), I get no relief, so thought I would mention this, it may help someone, especially if you feel the inflammation is making the scarring worse.

Welcome to the forum.  Your comments are interesting, however, antihistamines are also excellent at vaso-constriction which kill erections and blood supply.  I never heard of a connection between prostate issues and Antihistamines.

thank you Hawk, this is an excellent forum, I wish I found it sooner.   I will continue to catch up on info here.  You are very kind to offer this as a free resource to the many who suffer.

antihistamines can cause difficulty in urination in men who have enlargement of the prostate gland, like myself.

Yes I could see how the reducing erection capacity would also be an issue.  I will continue to use it topically though as it is a small area, as I have not had erectal reduction.

Also I started pentox this week, and cialis a few weeks ago.  Although I do not have bending, I am hoping they will loosen and soften the scar tissue up.  So far the side effects are not too bad.  The skin is soften and I can see more blood flow all over my body.

I question my uro on if the injections can do more damage than good and he said theres a right way too do it and a wrong way. If done correctly you should be good.

funnyfarm

Do you know if that is the needle doing mechanical damage to the tissue, or the verapamil itself harming the penis ?

I haven't seen anything that would indicate that the verapamil itself would be causing damage to the tissue. But I can see how a doctor who is not well trained in doing verapamil injections could be causing further damage and making the Peyronie's worse. There's no way I would allow a doctor to stick a needle into my penis unless I knew for sure that he's had extensive experience in this area with high rates of success.

My uro prescribed Pentox ONLY because I asked him to.  I was told to buy L-arginine and Vitamin E.  The nurse called in a specially compounded formula, VUE cream.  I will be getting it via mail one day this week and will keep you guys posted on any changes/progress.  When I talked to the pharmacist he said it will take about 30 days before I see any results.  I have an appointment with the nurse about that time.  They're also talking about iontophoresis and there has been no mention of injections.  I'm pretty confident that the progression of my condition is arrested at the moment.  All the pain I had in my groin and testicles seems to have subsided over the past 2 weeks since my 1st uro visit and starting on Pentox.  The pharmacist said the compound contains verapamil and urea and didn't elaborate on what else is in it.  I delayed getting the VUE cream after reading many posts and comments saying it is ineffective.  Too, I wanted to take one step at a time as I was already taking 7 different supplements to lower bp and cholesterol plus changing my diet.  Good news is that my bp is down from 149/89 to hovering around 120/80 and I've lost as much as 7 lbs which was needed.  I'm not significantly over weight but 175 is too heavy for me and I would like to get back down to 160 where I was 6 or 7 years ago.  My theory of how I ended up with this condition is that the change in cholesterol had a significant part to do with it and with my elevated bp.  I just started using a VED.... so therapy, supplements and meds is how I'm attacking it.  As for cost.... pentox @ walmart was around $25, VUE cream $75 w/o insurance.  Co-pay for doctor's visits $50 each... one to a gp and one to a uro.  I've been dealing with this for about 2 months and already out of pocket nearly $400 doing it on a tight budget and had a contribution of the medical quality VED at no cost.

I doubt you mean theory.  A theory is defined as a coherent group of tested general propositions, commonly regarded as correct, that can be used as an explanation and prediction

2. In science, a well-established explanation for scientific data. Theories typically cannot be proven,  but they can become established if they are tested by several different scientific investigators. A theory can be disproven by a single contrary result.

I think what you mean is A: my cholesterol went up.  B: I got Peyronies Disease C:I have a hunch A caused B.

We have a hundred different things that men are certain caused their Peyronies Disease because it happened to preceed Peyronies. Those are NOT theories about what couses or even about what trigger Peyronies Disease.

My only point is to get us all using the same definitions for key words.  It is the only way we can effectively communicate with each other.

Iontophoresis is the only process by which I can see there might be some value of using Verapamil. Topical success is seriously lacking but if you can budget it, what the hell, go for it. It shouldn't hurt. I think one guy here says it temporarily increased girth. I think that's what he said. Can't quite remember for sure.

None of the urologists I've seen so far have any clue when it comes to Iontophoresis. In fact, none of them even have the equipment to perform a full color duplex ultrasound. One urologist said doing so would be merely "academic" anyway so there was no point. If he hadn't just given me $1,000 worth of free ED & testosterone stuff, I would have knocked him out.

Hope to God I get to see Dr. Lue soon so I can work out the design of my final battle plan.

Hawk ... sounds cool to me.  Kinda hard for me to use all the right terms when CRS overcomes me ....

Matt... despite my less than perfect appreciation for the uro I saw in Birmingham I'd say they've got as good as can be expected for treating Peyronies.  I was a bit surprised tho' they seemed to not have heard of this website and I was a little caught off guard because the doctor had no clue why I would want Pentox.  Too, I was very perplexed because when he prescribed methylprednisone not one person, not the doc, the nurse, or the pharmacist told me how to take it and it is a very unusual method of several pills one day then fewer each day until they're all gone.  After reading all the warnings I decided against taking the me-pred for the pain and within 3 days all the discomfort subsided.  My only conclusion is that it either did it on it's own or the pentox helped with the pain from inflammation.
On another note, my prescription for VUE gel (verapamil) came in the mail yesterday.  According to the pharmacist who mixed it up I should start seeing results in 30 days.  For the moment my scar tissue seems to have enlarged a bit but I feel that is due to the fact that I've been using a VED for a few days and it could be the effect of stretching.
