My Story (bear with me on this as I am desperate for advice):

About 2 and a half years ago I tried out a penis pump for the first and only time. Biggest mistake of my life. Just a few minutes into using it I felt pain and immediately knew I had done something wrong. Apparently I had pumped too hard. I went limp. For the next 2 weeks I wasnt able to sustain an erection. After that time I did get my erections back, but not nearly the same quality that they were prior to the pump incident.

Since then I have had severe erectile dysfunction--loss of nocturnal and morning erections, difficulty maintaining an erection, which by the way I can only get to about 80% of what they used to be before. I can no longer get hard by visual or mental stimuli, I almost always need manual stimulation to get it up.

Within the last year it has become increasingly more rigid in its flaccid state. And now it's to the point that it has the mild trademark "hourglass" shape to it. Just before the head it feels somewhat hardened on each side (when i look straight down at it--the left and right side). It also has started to curve slightly to the left and appears to have lost some girth. Additionally, my penis generally has the numb, cold feeling that is similar to that of being in a cold pool.

My gf (our relationship predates the incident) loves me to the point that it doesnt bother her regarding what it has done my sexual performance, but it has severely depressed me.

Prior to the incident, I never, ever had problems with erections. From the time I was maybe 13 until the day of the incident I woke up every single day hard as a rock. I could merely think of something erotic for a second and my thing would be pointing straight up almost instantly. Im only 29. The worst thing about this whole ordeal is that I essentially did this to myself.

I wake up every morning now with a sick feeling in my gut and I've cried on more than one occasion because this has been so mentally debilitating to me. I plan on going to my urologist and having him do an ultrasound. But Im around 95% sure that it's Peyronie's, and that I'm pretty much screwed.

I just need advice from fellow sufferers. I know the prognosis for natural recovery isnt good. Since my curve isnt severe, do I have a better chance at getting better naturally? Ive been taking vitamin E and fish oil for the last 2 months, but that hasnt induced much improvement. Please give me any advice you can offer.

What you describe may well be peyronies complicated by venous leakage.

You need to get to a Male Sexual Function Specialist ASAP. Do Not go to a general practice urologist, they are not good for this. You may have to travel because there are only about 3 or 4 great doctors in the country.

torn,  I agree with Jack on this completely.  You REALLY, REALLY need an expert opinion.  9 out of 10 run of the mill uros will try to convince you that they are an expert and will feed you some useless line.  That is why, as Jack clearly points out, you NEED a REAL expert and that would be a top level Male Sexual Function Specialist.  And you will have to travel to a major medical center to find one.  The sooner you do so, the better off you will be.  - George

Ok thanks for the input. How would I be able to locate one of these specialists? Are they at just regular hospitals? Also I'm sure they're probably very expensive and I don't have insurance. Whenever I go to the hospital I get financial assistance because of my lack of insurance and low income level.

Well, Torn I think you are on the right place to take good advice and plan to improve your health.
Peyronie's disease symptoms may vary from one individual to other, but thoses you are talking are unfortunatly common.

You are in the first phase (acute) not yet in the chronic phase. So that the encouraging thing. You can start Pentox from now. That will not make things worst.

I can't say to you to start stretching with an extender because in the first phase it may trigger more inflammation process, but I think personnaly that stretching may prevent penile shrinking.

Emotionnaly with your gf relationship keep in mind one fact : sex for you is not as good as before because you don't feel your erection as before, you may not have the same sensation but avoid to project this to you gf. That is to say that it for sure as good for her as before.
Let sex be a nice moment, even if sometimes you cannot penetrate your partner you can give her a lot of pleasure and receive a lot too.

Seek for psychological support if you feel the need for it,
best regards

Sorry, I am in columbus, oh. BTW, I just felt the trademark little bump on the left, underside of my penis. I should also mention that I was on the antibiotic cipro about 3 weeks ago when I really began to to notice the physical changes in my pens. I believe this made it more severe. I am really scared now. My erections are getting a little painful and that bump is scary.

Does the bump ever go away? It feels like a small bb or nodule under the skin. I wish I would never of touched the cipro. I didn't make the connection soon enough.

I hope this bump goes away. I can't live life like this.

The best solution for you might be Dr Levine in Chicago.  He is one of a handful of top Peyronie's experts in the US.  In terms of cost, we are probably talking about one visit here with a referral back to your regular urologist.  If doctor Levine is willing to prescribe Pentox for you, your regular urologist would probably be more willing to continue that prescription for you which would save you another trip to Dr Levine in Chicago.  - George

I feel your pain, 'torn": my condition was also somewhat self inflicted...i actually bought into the whole " jelquing" scam back in 2002.....i'm 32 now. In retrospect my unit was just fine and my attempts at increasing length and girth were narcissistic, vain and perhaps due in part to the influence of pornography. 10 years of this...I 've actually thought about going into medical school just to devote myself to studying this nightmare in the hopes of finding something resembling a cure.  this thing waxes and wanes but it can and does improve. Get as much exercise as you possibly  can, eat well, mediate, part of your ED is purely psychological in the sense that the disease will likely cut your libido in half. If you are diagnosed with venous leakage please let us know. How does one combat venous leakage? Regular erections and healthy testosterone levels should help things along. It might be helpful to get on an antidepressant that won't have an effect on your libido during this acute phase. ..i wish i had because the associated psychological distress  has a detrimental effect on libido which in turn inhibits regular strong erections which in turn aggravates the condition further, etc.,etc...........your unit takes a long time to heal ..unlike other injuries to your body recovery in this arena is often measured in increments of years. drink lots of water avoid proinflammatory foods. i've been battling this nightmare for a decade now. i wish i had access to resources like this back then. maximize your overall mental and physical health via whatever means necessary, man: two things will occur your body's natural ability to deal with this crap will be optimized and you'll place yourself in a better position with respect to new treatment modalities on the horizon. if you use VED  or traction do so in a highly conservative manner. VED aggravated my condition further.
