I had 4 very expensive sessions back in May; it helped with pain, but not curve.

I changed hospitals and doctor recently. The new one offered 6 sessions of ESWT for free (just pay fee for seeing doctor) as he said both parties could benefit (they record results and use me as guinea pig). I agreed as I understand how it bascially works and have done it before. I get the impression from the doctor not many males here (Taiwan) go to see the doctor about Peyronies Disease.

Today I had my first session. It hurt more than last time. Two reasons perhaps: more plaque and last time the doctor attacked the plaque from underneath, whilst this time the doctor did from on top if you see what I mean. He also did i-t above the penis where the pubic hair is and that also hurt. He said the machine can detect inflammation (from infection) and this could be a reason for peyronies as it could travel down there. I found this fascinating and plausible. So next week (I have a session every Fri), I will share this with the doctor armed with an image of the male anatomy down there and ask him the possibilities for the pain there. He is a good doctor (head of dep.) and will hopefully want to investigate further.

In other news, my RestoreX device arrives next week, so there's that to look forward to.

I will update after every session and share my findings.

Awesome that you are getting it for free! I don't know if it will improve things or not.  There is little knowledge on this kind of treatment.  If you are getting worse though I would give this a second thought on more treatments.

Session #2
Less pain than the first time, the guy doing the ESWT said this was a good sign. He also mentioned the plaque felt softer and looser than the first time. I saw the doctor right before the session and he said due to nature and location of plaque, he has got me an MRI scan for Monday (luckily someone cancelled). He is concerned it may be a tumor so an MRI scan provides more information than the previous sonogram I had half a year ago at another hospital.

MRI scan results: no tumor, everything is normal besides having a little plaque inside the cavernosal penis artery and of course on the tunica albuginea. So no cancerous tumor is always a bonus.

Session #3
New pain on right hand side of base even though no increase of scarring on that side (although the doctor had mentioned ESWT does not ONLY detect plaque; it could be an inflammation or infection). The rest of the area treated was same of less pain as session #2. Next session is scheduled for December because the ESWT treatment takes several months to show results. I will then continue to have 3 more weekly sessions.

Hi, sone fmri?

My pain is only a little during erection IF I take 1000mg acetyl l-carnitine x2 daily. I tried 500mg x2 and the pain increased so I see this as very important to me.

Just wanted to relay what the European Association of Urology says about ESWT, which seems to reflect your experience as well:

The mechanical shear stress provoked by low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave treatment (LI-ESWT) on the treated tissue was deemed to induce neovascularisation and to enhance local blood flow [1016]. The mechanism of action involved in ESWT for Peyronies Disease is still unclear, but there are two hypotheses: (i) SWT works by directly damaging and remodelling the penile plaque; and (ii) SWT increases the vascularity of the area by generating thermodynamic changes resulting in an inflammatory reaction, with increased macrophage activity causing plaque lysis and eventually leading to plaque resorption [1067,1068].

Four RCTs and one meta-analysis [1069-1073] assessed the efficacy of ESWT for Peyronies Disease. Three were sham-controlled trials while one compared ESWT with the combination of ESWT and PDE5I (tadalafil) [1067].

All trials showed positive findings in terms of pain relief, but no effect on penile curvature and plaque size. Inclusion criteria varied widely among studies and further investigation is needed.
Early 30s, diagnosed with Peyronies in 2017 after trauma during sex. ca 15 degrees upward curvature. Restorex, VED, 5mg Cialis, Pentox, L-arginine, Coq10, Propolis, Vitamin E. Underwent 12 rounds of Verapamil injections 2021-22

any update?

No change in pain or shape so far. I am using a RestoreX every day now for 20 mins so lets see if that does anything.

Hi, ESWT: the only thing that has has after receiving this is more plaque and a curve upwards. Is it related? Impossible to know, but it hasn't improved because of ESWT. I regret doing it especially because ESWT is usually used on shoulders and knees etc. I.e hard parts of the body. I can't help but think ESWT could damage the penis.

RestoreX: this takes some getting used to, my good lord. It feels good and right to stretch out, but so far I'm using it every day for 25 minutes straight. I haven't started to use the bend function because I fail to see how it is possible to stretch the plaque near the base of the penis when the machine bends it in the last quarter of the penis if you see what I mean.

Thanks, I agree the ESWT even feels damaging to the penis. Only up side is I have spoken to a few members on here who sad it definitely helped with ED.

Do you have plaque you can feel on the base? I have narrowing and dents at the base - uro recommended not to use restoreX so i'm a bit confused.

Any results from RestoreX even after straight 25m bending? I'm thinking of starting with just that to see how I go.

Thanks a lot!

I have heard it's good for ED also, but that certainly is NOT an issue for me. I dunno whether it's limiting masturbation to once a week (previously 3~4) or the grape seed extract, but I get woken up most nights by night wood. It's actually making me consider stop taking the grape seed extract because it's disturbing my sleep. It makes it more sensitive which is great because I would remember times before all this started when there wouldn't be much of a reaction. Now I know why: too much DIY. Anyway, I digress.

I can feel plaque at the top at base and on left and now, right hand side. There is also plaque about urethra in space between that and those two sponge things which is fantastic. Narrowing and dents are just plaque restricting the natural shape, right? I have heard you are not supposed to use stretching devices in early stages as plaque isn't fully formed and could make it worse. I am 1.5 years in so I assume I could.

Do I have any results from RestoreX? I would say it seems to be a little straighter. Certainly feels good. I have also started eating pistachios and almonds daily for natural vitamin e, going out for daily walks and jogs and bought vitamin e from Gnc. Very expensive byt it covers all 8 components AND is natural. You see they say vitamin e is good, but truth is there are 8 components and it could be natural or synthetic so buying a regular vitamin e supplement would usually only give u 1 component AND it is synthetic. This is way different I imagine from having a supplement that contains all 8 AND is natural. I hope so anyway.

Good to see you're somewhat improving. I've heard NTE can be good for peyronies so might want to keep that going. Stay positive - any improvement is still improvement. Slow steps will get us there!

Now I've learned a new acronym. OK good to know. It's true about positivity; the placebo effect is real. Thanks for the positive vibes, brother. I wish you the same.

Have you tried alpha lipoic acid for pain?
Snake Diet + 5-day fasts + pentox + NeoV's stretching routine + Mito Red Light. Curvature 99% gone.

I also used Todd Capistrant's "Fascial Distortion Model" to help my curvature. Start slowly.

Nope. I don't feel pain unless I masturbate more than twice a week. I guess inflammation has something to do with that?

How long did you have peyronie's once you started the wave therapy?  I thought it was only supposed to help before calcification?  I could be wrong, I'm still learning about all these options.  But I think I read that somewhere.

I had it for a year when first tried. I read it was suitable AFTER everything has been set in place. I.e. The shape had finished changing due to plaque formation. Either way, I DON'T recommend it and regret it as new plaque was formed after. Maybe related, maybe not. Impossible to prove, but it feels like it damages it. Well, it does. That's the nature of it; damage to rebuild again.

Knowlage81,

With the reduced pain; did you notice any reduced sensitivity ?

Thanks
Peyronies Disease with 35 degree curve. ED; Viagra 100 becoming unreliable. Uncomfortable with needles.
Chronic Prostatitis going back decades. Hydrocele. Varicocele. Considering implant.

John Michael

Shockwave treatment is a scam - there is no scientific data that it will reduce scar tissue - had 6 sessions and it did nothing.

No, I didn't and also after the pain has come and gone so I find that unrelated also.
