Summary:
Hello Everyone,

I'm in my early 30s. I recently experienced a penile injury that has persisted for months. My injury occurred due to jelqing and stretching. In April of this year, I stretched out my penis and heard a popping/snapping sound that created no pain at the time. The next morning, I felt an aching sensation below my glans. The sensation is still present in flaccid state. It's not painful, but just aches at the injury sight. The injury causes no pain during erections. However, a very small lump appears during semi erection and erection, but doesn't appear when it's flaccid and can't be felt when it's flaccid. My assumption is that I torn a tissue and when I have an erection, the injury sight bulges out.

Two weeks after my injury, I did a doppler Ultrasound during flaccid state, and they said everything looked normal. The urologists that I visited havent been able to palpate nodules/lumps. They all advised the wait and see approach and offered NSAID medicine.

As my ache was improving, I recently seen another peyronies specialist doctor on August 4th. He pressed at my injury sight and this has set me back. After I left, I was more sore. It's still sore till this day. I ask him to be gentle, but he wasn't. This is very irritating. Never the less, this few months have been an emotional roller coaster.

1. I've asked my doctor to prescribed Pentox and Cialis, which I started taking a few days ago.

2. The ache sensation did improved, but was set back after my recent doctor visit. It's been four months since my injury. How long does it typically take for a flaccid injury to recover?

3. What do you think about my recent visit from my urologist. Do you think by him pressing on my injury sight caused temporarily damage, long term damage etc? Or will it just be sore for a few more days?

Does anyone have any thoughts or similar experiences of what I'm going through?

Hi letzgo,

Glad to see you posted your Intro.

My thoughts are that you may have had a microfracture or even a false fracture but from what I remember false fracture usually doesn't have a popping/snapping sound.  You said that you heard a popping/snapping sound which tends to indicate a fracture but you didn't have all the other signs swelling, bleeding, instant loss of erection, discoloration at site of injury, please correct me if I'm wrong there.  You might have had a similar accident as mine.  I didn't hear a popping/snapping sound but was diagnosed with most likely having a microfracture or microtear in tunica.  Not all fractures or false fractures will lead to Peyronies.

I think it's a good sign that you are not in pain with erections and that the site is not painful in flaccid although it still aches.
Peyronies is tricky because it seems like the earlier you treat it the better off you may be in the long run.  But to me you want a firm diagnosis before you go off doing things that might harm whatever is going on and make it worse especially if it is not Peyronies.

In one of your emails to me I thought you had mentioned you were going to get an MRI? Did you get this?  Or are you still?  I think an MRI should be more definitive for diagnosing what is going on.  Dr. Trost said even Ultrasounds (US) are not the most definitive to diagnose Peyronies.  But in the hands of a skilled Urologist who knows what to look for US as well as hands on palpation I would assume should be pretty sufficient to diagnose Peyronies.  Dr. Trost also said that an MRI is not always needed though either especially if it won't change the course of treatment, so there's that too.  But in some cases it might be too early to feel any plaques if any at all are going to develop anyway.  Your lump you are feeling may not be a plaque and it sounds like the Urologists you saw said it was not.

What did the last Peyronies Specialist say?  He didn't see anything in US or palpation?

Penile Injuries can take time heal even if they are not Peyronies.  I know some of the past injuries I had with vein thrombosis I had to take it easy with masturbation for a good 2 months before that started getting better.  This was a long time ago.   But if you have what might be Peyronies I think one of the last things you want to do is wait for it to get better.  I'd want to see one of the better known doctors like Levine, Lue, or Trost and get their opinion.  For me Dr. Levine is literally in my backyard so it was an easy choice for me.  I'm sure there are other good Peyronies Urologists out there that others could recommend on the forum, that's just who I know from scouring this site the last 2 months and reading urology journals.

Hello Cdub,

I'm scheduled to get my MRI this month.  My recent visit with my peyronies specialist didn't feel any lumps or plaques. He was really confused because he seen the small lump on my erect penis from a picture that I showed him. He then scheduled an MRI because he said it's the best method to check for any damages in the tunica or CC. He said if I don't have a tear in the tunica or cc that it's a soft tissue tear and I'll just have to wait until it heals, like any other soft tissue tear. But if I do have a tear in the tunica or cc, we would have to treat it right away, because it can develop to peyronies. He was hesitant to schedule  a MRI because he mentioned regardless of the results of the mri, it's not going to change the treatment. it's really only for diagnosis to understand what's causing me pain.

I've also been told by another urologist through a consultation call that I may have experienced a micro fracture.

I was recovering from this injury. It seem as the lump was getting smaller ( it might just be me imagining it) and I was experiencing less pain. However after my last visit with my urologist, he pressed so hard that it flared up. I'm still experiencing the affect of it this week. I just hope he didn't cause further damage. This is the last time I'm allowing a doctor press on it for a long time. I can't risk any further set backs.

The MRI should give some pretty definitive answers.  Let's hope it's just a soft tissue injury and just needs time to heal.

With my injury I had a lump on my shaft during erection but it didn't really show up in flaccid the first few weeks after injury.  But then the injury started to heal as scar tissue and is now present in flaccid.  The lump is still noticeable in erect state and causes some deformity in my erect penis but the lump is not as big as it was and the initial swelling in the area went down too.  That took about 3 weeks for all that to happen.  Sounds like this hasn't happened to you and that your injury was back in April, so I think that might be a good sign?  But Peyronies can be quite different for everyone.  Still hoping for you that it is just soft tissue and no damage to tunica or CC and you just need to time to heal.

Have you been limiting masturbation and or sex?  I've cut down porn substantially, I'm working on getting rid of it altogether.  And I'm still working on masturbation to once a week or every 2 weeks.  I'm not there yet but doing better.  Sex I don't limit but I go very slow and only with very firm erections.  My girlfriend has been very supportive.  We have sex maybe once a week or two weeks.

Update:

I recently completed my MRI.

The findings are below:

"The tunica albuginea of the corpora cavernosum and spongiosum appears circumferentially intact throughout the course of the penis. No disruption is identified. There is no appreciable soft tissue swelling or hematoma. No evidence for penile fracture."

Based on the MRI and the aches that I still have, I may have just damaged a soft tissue and have to allow time to let it heal. It's been a few months since my injury. I think by testing erections and continuously touching/rubbing the injury area has delayed the healing process. Since about two weeks ago, Ive stopped testing erections and stopped touching the injury area and the aches have decreased.

I truly hope that you stick with your regimen and that you're able to heal. Let's hope it's not a fracture. Good luck!

But seriously the psychological impacts of Peyronies Disease are the worst.

This forum is the most useful place I've found. Thanks!

Do you have any noticeable curvature? Painful erections? Erectile dysfunction? This doesn't sound like Peyronie's to me. Perhaps abstaining from masturbation/sex would greatly benefit your case.
