Peyronie001

-23, In prettty good shape physically and cardiovascularly, 5' 9'' 160lbs slightly elevated blood pressure, heavy drinker about 8 drinks per day average in college last three years up to this last winter then cut back
-Found this forum watching Neo youtubers videos
-Peyronie Onset about a year ago after masturbating while intoxicated and not fully erect... Woke up in the morning with some bruising under skin and a little swelling with minor pain now in I think active stage with hourglass deformity
-didn't think much of it at the time as had to work 16hr. shift that day
-a week or two later there was a noticeable banding area of penis and indent on bottom of shaft
-Saw urologist basically said not much could do, said  to get lots of erections at least 3-4 per week, if it is peyronies and come back in a year to check progression said he could give me viagra if needed
-Wish I had researched more earlier in active stage
-Stopped getting full morning erections and could get good erection but must use hand to massage into place
-Tried shock wave therapy and PRP shot so far at cost of $4200
-Both therapies didn't seem to get rid of scar tissue, maybe make the tissue a little healthier, but increased blood flow to penis and maybe prolong active stage or stabilized progression of the disease, more normal morning erections returned, deformity slightly improved
-Right now I have slight burning in penis when not erect and very minor pain when erect
-Penis mostly looks normal when erect, with minor hinging effect if not fully stimulated, but "turtles" around scar tissue a bit when not erect
-Pain is minor
-Mainly concerned about long term erectile function and progression of disease
-If it stays where it is at I wouldn't really mind that much although not ideal
-Any thoughts? or ways to decrease inflammation in present
-I changed diet a bit, cut back a lot on alchohol, cut out caffeine for a bit, now drink coffee again
-trying to take warm bath everyday and vitamins and some antioxidant supplements

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My suggestions/personal experience I'd like to add to board, based on personal experience and limited knowledge alone:
-If you think you have penis inflammation or injury try to decrease inflammation right away (hot baths, change diet, purchase some OTC topical supplements and vitamins)
-Reduce stress, when I got it initially I was working 70hrs. a week and drinking heavily on days off, and using chewing tobacco occasionally
-Cause of peyronie I think is mostly penis not being fully erect or general inflammation and stress on body and then having sexual intercourse or masturbating
-I don't think I would've gotten peyronie if I didn't watch pornography... I didn't start watching pornography until about 2 yrs ago as I was working a lot didn't have girlfriend... Before that I would usually only masturbate like once and feel satisfied... with pornography I would get another erection very soon after and the amount of times I was able to masturbate increased... to avoid peyronie initially let penis be fully erect on its own without stimulation of hand or pornography then masturbate or have sexual intercourse

Welcome to the forum! 🙂

Please read through our Survival Guide as it has a ton of useful information about this condition -  https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php?topic=3180.0

Could you also please take a minute to fill out your signature line? It's hard to remember your case details out of 20,000 members. You can find instructions here - https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,10819.0.html

About your case - did you see the hourglassing and indentation during a full erection? Or do you see the deformity while flaccid or semi-erect mostly?

Do you have Hard Flaccid? The way you describe your symptoms and the "turtling" effect while flaccid signals more of a Hard Flaccid issue than a Peyronie's Disease issue.

Dr. Levine says it's not Peyronie's Disease but a slow healing wound. Saw him Mar 21 and May 21.
Traction (PMP) and supplements per Dr. Levine's recommendation.

I'm not very familiar with hard flaccid, idk it could be... sometimes, not always the indentation/band is very prominent though which I why I thought peyronies. The indentation is more prominent when flaccid or semi-erect and tissue around indentation feels a bit harder. There is still a bit of an indentation when erect and there is a portion that will expand curved before straightening to a normal erection which is why I think there is some scar or damaged tissue. My main concerned is that the scar tissue I think is there gets larger or whatever is going on progresses to a worse state. I used to be able to get an erection at will without stimulation of hand or porn prior to injury now I must use my hand.

Gotcha!❣️

So Peyronie's Disease typically manifests as an erect deformity. This means that when you are erect at 100% hardness, your deformity is at its worst.

In Hard Flaccid, the way you describe seeing indentations while flaccid/semi-erect is very typical. You also mention turtling of your flaccid penis, which again is literally Hard Flaccid. To check whether you have Hard Flaccid or not, lay down for a couple minutes and feel your penis. It should be soft and flexible. Now stand up and move around for a couple minutes and feel it again. Does it turtle or feel harder than when you were laying down? If so, you have Hard Flaccid.

You can learn more about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Hard_Flaccid/. Look at the top pinned post, and review the symptoms and see if you line up more with those.

I've seen several young guys misdiagnosed with Peyronie's Disease who ultimately had Hard Flaccid. Unfortunately, Hard Flaccid is not very understood in the medical community so most urologists don't even know about it. The treatment strategy is entirely different than Peyronie's Disease, which is why I wanted you to check on it.

Your other symptoms again line up more with Hard Flaccid - loss of morning wood, struggling with maintaining/getting erections, the cause being excessive masturbation, etc.

I'm not saying its impossible that you could have Peyronie's Disease but given your age, symptoms, and the cause of the issue (stress + excessive masturbation), Hard Flaccid definitely is a differential diagnosis.

Thanks for the input! When I am 100% erect my deformity is about 90+% normal. The deformity is where I lose my erection first if not stimulated enough and there is a banding of the skin arounding it when not erect. The banding of skin is a little lower than the based which is why I'm still concerned about peyronie. I'm definitely going to check into the hard flaccid syndrome more as I do fit a lot of the symptoms. Penis does feel harder than normal and a bit softer if lying down or resting for a while, I'm not sure if that is just swelling though.

Also I had PRP shot a month ago which is supposed to provide more oxygenated blood to penis all the time, so idk that could be having effect and then I was doing the shock wave therapy in addition.

Not sure if I should rest it or keep getting as many erections as I can. Seems like hard flaccid is inflammation of penile nerves that causes swelling of tissues.

by the way, to any senior members on the forum, not sure where to ask this:

But have there been any advances in MRI being used for: diagnosis (i.e. discovery of location of plaque(s)) and/or monitoring of treatment (i.e. reduction of plaque and efficacy of varied methods)?

I had hard flaccid syndrome before peyronies developed full blown. I strongly think hard flaccid is a manifestation of inflammation of penile tissue. If this is not reduced, chronic inflammation leads to disorganized collagen and body responds to this inflammation by depositing excess collagen as response the inflammatory action , this is the resultant peyronies plaque.

Thanks for response. How long did you have hard flaccid for and how long did it take to develop into to full blown peyronies? Any Suggestions to prevent or reduce inflammation? Is there any way I can find out for certain if I have collagen already?

Best way is to get as many night time erections. If you don't get strong NTE, you need to take daily dose cialis 5mg and also start doing traction. You can typify coq10 supplement too. Avoid excess alcohol as it increases inflammation in body in general. Besides this try and take less stress that  increases inflammation in body. Just do your best and tell yourself you are already doing your best to prevent it, come what may.

I definitely think drinking heavily in college only made my issues worse - I haven't drank in a week and feel sooo much better. It's true when it comes to the inflammation. I'd say keep it at a bare minimum. It also definitely effects your medications big time. I always feel super dizzy / out of it if I drank at all when taking these meds!
