Hi,

I have been referred by my GP (June 9th) to my local NHS Urology department (Tunbridge Wells), but have yet to be triaged, with no certain ideas on timescale.

I have also just started a session of ESWT at Shockwave Clinic (Richmond), and have completed one session. Not sure about changes yet, but happy to answer questions.

I guess the Peyronies started towards the beginning of 2021, but I didn't notice anything until I experienced a non-specific groin pain around April/May. In June the curve in my penis was prominent enough for me to contact my GP. It's now about 40 degs. I hadn't noticed that the groin pain was very probably emanating from my penis - I just thought I'd been sitting for too long (at work).

I have been pain-free since June (I was before the eswt started).

I am very anxious about outcomes and the future, reluctant to opt for surgery, wary of hard sells (having already spent a considerable sum) and I do not have private medical insurance.
I have just enquired at London Andrology.

I look forward to your valued advice.

Hi Simon, and welcome.

Definitely too early to consider surgery. Many of us who had a sudden curvature went on to see that curvature "relax" and improve. You're only a month or two into the curve, so still considered in the "acute" stage, thus, not a good prospect for surgery as it may very well improve on its own.

I know the anxiety, believe me, but you are early in the game and have every reason to hope for improvement. It's great that you're pain free. That's wonderful. Now, you can examine the various treatments discussed here like traction, Pentoxifylline, VED, etc., and proceed thoughtfully and cautiously. You may very well be in a much better situation this time next year.

Hang in there,

Welcome Anonpref!  I assume you have read the survival guide and the read it again. Gentle traction and VED therapy should be considered. Also how are your erections? Cialis can help with this. You could be experiencing some type of pelvic pain syndrome.  Don't hyper-focus on your situation because worrying will do more harm than good.  So you have not seen a urologist yet?

Hi Mike,
I have been trying gentle stretching after each wee, but I don't really know what I should be doing.
Erections are fairly firm (at best), I seem to be having more morning erections, but tbh, I'm finding it difficult psychologically to get hard. I see my penis, feel miserable and quickly go soft.

I'm seeing Dr Raheem (urologist) on Wednesday for a first consultation.

I think most of us can relate to that Anonpref. You need to have erections, and you want to have them, but then you start getting one and the adrenaline and anxiety kicks in and shuts it down. It's perfectly understandable, believe me.

Your pain stopped pretty quickly. That's good - that probably means the "active" phase is nearing the end. That means you can get started on doing things to correct that curve.

I bet you are going to make progress. Just hang in there and take it one day at a time.

Best,
Nemo
