Curcumin regulates fibrosis - paper
« on: July 22, 2021, 09:55:44 AM »

hi all

this is a very interesting review (although i don't understand most of it)

https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fphar.2020.585413/full

also keep in mind that off the shelf tumeric supplements might not have ideal absorption. it's better to have some sort of fat to go with it as tumeric is fat soluble! i started taking a full teaspon mixed in two tablespoons olive oil with black pepper every night before sleep!

Have also been reading about anti-inflammatory effect of extra virgin olive oil.

I wonder if one might mix say a tablespoon of ground turmeric with a tablespoon of olive oil at bedtime.

I may just give that a try.

Also liposomal formulation. I haven’t done it myself , but it makes sense. Liposomal formulation is easily within reach of all of us thanks to sonication devices, , marketed for cleaning.

Curcumax pro helps with my pain, took that tip from Gabriel. Not trying to shill the product, just want to share my experience that it personally helps me. Instead of just for pain, I’ll take it everyday and see how that goes.

Ignore what I said about taking a Tablespoon of Turmeric with a Tablespoon of Olive Oil. That's way too much Turmeric - made my stomach upset. I was using freshly grated Turmeric.

More like a Teaspoon would be prudent.

I've been alternating between curcumin capsules and a teaspoon in olive oil with black pepper

piperine increases bioavailability by 2000 times apparently

Yeah, I was freaking out when I realized I'd eaten a Tablespoon of grated Turmeric when that's way, way more than what's recommended. Apparently, Turmeric can react with blood thinners (like Pentox?) and cause other problems if taken in excess.

I only stopped freaking when I read somewhere that 1 Tablespoon grated Turmeric = 1 Teaspoon of ground/powdered Turmeric. So, hopefully, it wasn't enough to cause me problems other than the stomach upset (which was probably due to the olive oil).

Should have read more before I started making my own concoctions!

I tried taking different brands of turmeric and they all upset my stomach. I have read several reviews from individuals though about it helping them with their arthritis when medication did not.

Hey guys,

Just a quick tip I learnt the hard way about this :
- Don't even try to use regular shelf turmeric (I mean, the "food" turmeric): even in huge and undigestible amounts, it's not even close to containing the amount of concentrated active principles (curcumin) that we are after.

- What you want to get your hands on, is a highly concentrated curcumin pill form. There are plenty on Amazon, with and without piperin (some say it will increase absorption, some say it will just mess up your stomach). Personally, I tried at least 3 or 4 brands along these 4 years, with and without piperin, and I must finally say that they all worked to a similar extent.

- My recommended dosage protocol is: take the recommended dose, after a meal (no need to shovel up 10g and 100 kcal of oil at the same time LOL), then increase it gradually, until 1) you notice a little stomach upset (can happen at high dose if, like me, you have a sensitive gut) or 2) you reach double the amount of standard dose.

Anyway, this curcumin stiff is definitely one of my few staples I agregated along those years, and I do positively notice the difference if I stop taking it for a while, and then when I go back to taking it daily.

Cheers,

G
