VED - Maintenance therapy

Gentlemen,

This is a question for our resident VED expert, but I thought everyone should see it and hopefully see his response.

Old Man,

I have been using my 3 cylinder VED for a little over a year now.  I used it religiously for the 26 week protocol and have been pretty consistent since on an every other day schedule.  I would like to start using it on a Monday and Thursday schedule now and would like to know your thoughts.  My reasoning is to give my penis 2 full days to recover from the stretching and basically use this schedule as my maintenance schedule for the foreseeable future.

Please let us all know your thoughts.

GS:

OK, you have asked the $64,000.00 question (from the old game show). Since you did not state whether or not you had any viable success with the VED therapy, I can not address whether or not you should do another 26 week course of VED protocol.

However to answer your question, I still use the VED on an irregular basis just for maintenance of what success I received as a result of my therapy (done with the one cylinder Osbon Esteem VED way back in 1995/96 timeframe). Some weeks I use it three or four times, other weeks 2 to 3 times and some weeks not at all. I base my maintenance on time permitted, whether or not I have the urge to do it and lastly if I think I may be "shrinking" up again.

At my age, the old tool just sometimes wants to do the turtle effect and won't come out to play. So, that is the time when I use the VED to help get it back into action. The old adage of use it or lose it does come into play with ones penis if it is not exercised on a regular basis, whether it is by the VED or by natural erections. As we all know there have been no published viable studies done with the VED to validate it validity, so each guy has to make his own decision whether or not to use it.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you had any good results from using the therapy for over a year so others can have the benefit of your experience. Since each and every case of Peyronies Disease is totally different from any other, any success from any therapy/treatment may or may not produce the same or similar results.

Old Man,

Thanks for the quick response.  Yes, I have had some success with the VED; about a 10 degree change in curvature and a great reduction in pain and discomfort.  I have lost some length and girth to peyronies, but not much; which I also give credit for to the VED usage.

The reasoning for my idea of allowing 72 hours between VED usage is because that's how long your muscles take to recover from a hard workout.  I realize my penis is not a muscle, but it is human tissue, so the time frame makes sense to me.

I think I'll try the 72 hours schedule as my maintenance schedule and report back to the forum in a few months.

GS:

Yes, your penis is composed of muscle tissue - smooth muscle tissue. It does not take as long to return to its "normal" relaxed state as does regular muscle tissue.

However, whatever schedule works for you, by all means go for it.

I recently completed a treatment regime involving use of both the 3 cylinder VED and the fast size extender.  The results were very good, but there are signs of a degree of relapse, or perhaps the treatment wasn't quite complete, as its nowhere near as bad as it was. Whereas I had about a 30 degree sideways curve, there is now just a slight, but definite, upward and sideways curve.
I would be interested to know whether anyone has views on maintenance therapy. My urologist, who favours the VED, said you don't need any continuing reduced level of treatment, you just start again if the Peyronies returns, however I feel that I want to actively retain the progress I made, and also prevent any deterioration.  Prof. Levine's protocol for the extender does recommend maintenence use, but is rather vague e.g. "use once or twice (or more) per week as a retainer", no advice on how to establish what level of stretch to use.

Worried Guy

Hey,

My urologist said to carry on twice a week for 10 minutes after I'm happy with the results.  He said it is good for penile health anyway.

Redkite

OK thanks WG, that makes sense and not too onerous either!

Redkite:

I am 16 years plus out from my initial VED therapy. Great results, but I still use the VED at least 2 to 3 times weekly just for maintenance of the gains I made with it.

If the penis is not stretched in some manner for extended periods of time, it will atrophy and shrink, etc. So, my advice to any and all who have used the VED therapy to maintain some form of maintenance to keep the penis healthy especially if one has an ED problem and erections are not spontaneous.

Thanks Old Man, will adopt a similar VED regime and see how it goes.  The extender seems to have benefits in terms of frequent morning erections, but have found it less convenient and couldn't maintain the stretch when using less frequently.

To all

I have recently posted on the traction device board.I am using the traction device simply to see what it can provide to therapy.I still feel that the ved is the safest possible way to maintain the health of the penis.Working with negative pressure it maybe the best way to restore.I maybe looking into implant surgery so I want to try both the ved and extenter at different intervals. It seems to me that the ved will push everything outward from the core of ones penis. That is what makes your penis look natural and uniform in the cylinder.

I want my maximum stretch as I will probably be getting an lgx 700 implant. That said I am having harder erections now without cialis. So I still have hope but things are weaker at the hinge.

I'm just incorporating another device to see where it leads me as we have become our own doctors fighting this crappy  disease.

Fubar - Once you take a break from traction, I definitely think that you should go ahead with your VED plan. If your erections are a bit better now, who knows, maybe the VED will contrubute further and things won't be as weak at the hinge. Maybe in addition to cialis, you could add some natural oral treatments like the l-arginine + pycnogenol combo (if you're not already taking it) as that is known to be good for ED too.

You mentioned that you have had some success with the traction device from Amazon.  There are 2 traction devices and want to know which one you are using since you found that it helped in some way.

Thank you for all of your posts.  Hope that  you also make the right decision about where you are at with this horrible disease.

Yes,  there  is the size doctor hybrid. No need for the comfort strap though. The noose seems to be the best choice as it conforms and sticks to the skin the best.I am not the biggest fan of this method but it is the one that works.Remember if the set up is uncomfortable you have to readjust. I would not spend Money on the expanded edition. However you do have to work with the comfort of the noose and make adjustments.

Like all devices if it does not feel comfortable or natural you have to make changes.I have found a simple change as letting slack in the tie works wonders. For the cost of the device at least you will find if extenders are worth the effort or if it is not for you.

This is not the proper board for this post so I will not respond to threads about the traction device on the ved boards.Do not want to tread on a different subject and make things confusing.
