The road to no more pain

Hello everyone,

I am a 22 year old from Australia. I was diagnosed with Peyronie's disease at the age of 17 with a 30 degree dorsal and 30 degree bend to the right. The bend of my penis always bothered me and stopped me from talking to females. My penis is a fairly good size but I feel like the curve always held me back. I never had pain or problems getting an erection.

I went to a Peyronie's specialist and chose to do something about the curve this year. He suggested that we inject with verapamil as he had success with patients using the injections. The first four injections went fairly well and I went down to a 20 degree dorsal and 18 degree bend to the right. On the fifth injection we decided to inject into the left side as he said I had some plaque there also. However, this was possibly the worst mistake I have ever made in my life. The fifth injection caused a hematoma and I believe it has put me into the acute stage again. For the past month, I have had inflammatory pain on the left, a new indentation and penile thinning. I complained about this to the specialist and he assured me that the injections did not cause any damage and that my disease was just progressing. I do not believe him and I've chosen to discontinue the injections.

It has been a month since that incident and I've been having really bad inflammation coming from the injection site and it looks like its getting worse. I've begun taking pentox 1600mg and cialis 2.5mg daily along with other supplements listed in my signature. I'm treating the inflammation with Celebrex 400mg but I feel like it doesn't do much.

Other than that, I've been depressed about this whole situation because my peyronie's was stable and I had no pain until I started doing these injections. I wish I could go back in time and left my curve as it was but that is simply not possible.

If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it. Is there anything else I should be doing? Should I begin Traction & VED in a few months when the inflammation is gone? Does every time that I get inflammation flare ups mean that I'm getting more scarring?

Welcome to the forum AverageBloke,

Thanks for filling in your signature line.  I hope we can help with some information and support.

I am sorry that the VI did not go well.  I am more surprised by the improvement of the first injections than the problem with the last one.

It seems you are doing most of what you can do.  You do not mention VED, Traction, or heat.  All need to be researched and done with care if you decide to use either alone or in combination.

Another thing I would consider trying that has very little evidence of improvement but seems logical is some Extra Strength Voltaren cream (2.2%) directly on the site of inflammation.  It is available without prescription in some countries.  It probably should not be combined with an oral NSAID like Celebrex; however, since it is absorbed into the body and is twice the strength you can buy in the U.S. Even that required a prescription until about a year ago.

Do, NOT neglect a healthy mindset.  Not only is it as important in your enjoyment of life as fixing your penis, but I have also seen a lot of anecdotal evidence over the decades that stress and Peyronies Disease have a connection.  Too many men develop Peyronies Disease immediately following other stressful events in their lives (divorce, family death, loss of employment)."

Welcome AverageBloke!  I concur with what Hawk has stated. Don't let your mind go down the pathway of this is forever and I'll never make it etc....
We have all had our setbacks and regrets.  There isn't a man here who has not. So I would look into some VED and light traction to add to what
you are doing. Look into heat therapy because it really helped me when I was having a lot of pain . Keep your chin up and try to focus on the good
things in your life to be thankful for.  Remeber you are young and have a lot of good living to do!!  Your future is not black and gloomy.  We all go
through tough times in our lives.  This helps all of us in building our character.  :)  Mike7

Thanks for your response Hawk. Should I wait until my inflammation is gone to start VED, traction & heat?

Average Bloke,

See how I trimmed your quote down for you in your last post.  Forum rules state not to quote entire posts.  It makes reading the forum tedious and uses up more resources.

I would not wait.  I would carefully and cautiously proceed.  Some here would disagree with me.  If scar tissue is forming, I would want it to do so under traction, not when my penis is retracted and flaccid.

I am assuming you read our survival guide and have taken accurate, objective measurements.  If not, it is vital that you do so.  Here is the link.https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3180.0.html
