Rice Sock Alternatives (Heat)
« on: May 18, 2021, 08:49:42 AM »

Anyone has any alternatives for the rice sock? Like a heat pad or something..
One that doesn't include something weighing down on my penis, because I have inguinal issues.

The heat seems to help very much.

I use an older heating pad on low with it wrapped in a towel covering.  I monitor the heat with a digital thermometer and never let it get above 104.  I will use this very carefully about 15 - 20 minutes before traction and VED.  Have had no problems whatsoever. Remember though to be careful as you could burn yourself very easily.

Hricco, I came to PDS looking for information about infrared therapy, and I see you just posted today.  That's a good omen.

I don't see any infrared lights on the heat pad. Are there lights that are not being shown in the photos?  How is this different from a regular heating pad?  And, do you know if this is near or far infrared?

Mikel, which heating pad do you use?
And I've heard that infrared can damage the penis, is that true?

It is an older heating pad I found at my dad's house with small colored push buttons on it - yellow, orange and red.  It is an older sunbeam.  Probably 30 to 45 years old, but still works. The newer ones get too hot on low.

The best heating source by far are hand warmers. Just be careful of it getting too hot, do not sleep with it on, and beware of skin damage (from any heat source).

Hey Neo

Which Handwarmers do you use.

I saw a video of yours on infrared heat, have you stopped using infrared?

I use an infrared heat lamp. It's floor standing. Is fully adjustable in terms of facing the heat. There is a dimmer switch. To adjust heat. I use a room thermometer. That sits besides penis. To ensure the temperature keeps at a safe level. < 43 Degrees Celsius.

cost
Lamp = £30
Thermometer = £1.50

Cost to run is high on electric.

Hello,

Have the same product. It's ok.  All the heat settings are too hot to use directly on penis, except perhaps at winter time outdoors.  A sock is useful as a barrier or heat filter? I burnt myself using this product. Skin bubbled up. Took 2 weeks to heal. Ouch!

Hi Neo, which handwarmers do you use? And do you put something in between your skin and the handwarmer?

I use hothands over a thick blanket and they work great. The hothands reach a peak heat level that is very hot so you have to make sure to be monitoring it.
