ED pills and arousal - what's the link?

Hi everybody,

My situation with ED is a bit puzzling and any views on my situation in this forum are appreciated!

So, I met a woman last December, when I actually suffered from a burnout. I had been watching porn and edged for about 1 year for about 2 hrs a day - also, my libido was (and still is!) low as compared to pre-burnout days. Whenever I got erect with that woman, I lost the erection after seconds when manual stimulation stopped.

Then I used Vardenafil 10g. Became rock hard and could maintain it as long as I wanted to and have sex 2 times a night. I then lost some weight, did cardio and pelvic exercises. Fast forward 4 months later: I can now have sex two times a night WITHOUT Vardenafil - but only when I am REALLY aroused! I even managed three times without them about 2 weeks ago. However, last night I could not maintain my erection so well and had to use 5g, which allowed me to have sex twice within 1 hour. When I now take Vardenafil 5g I can have sex 3-4 times a night with ease.

I do have two specific questions on this:

• Do ED pills work such that they allow me to get hard at a lower level of arousal? Do they allow for "under-arousal" -- I am asking this because my libido is often low and I am only partially aroused when I lose my erection
• I have been quite afraid of venous leak. Is it ruled out by the fact that I am, albeit not always, able to have sex and maintain erections multiple times without ED pills?

Venous leak is not characterized by getting strong erections and losing them.  It is characterized by blood flowing out as fast as it flows in and you never get firm erections.

All oral meds still require arousal.  I am not sure if they work at lower levels of arousal.

Thanks. But according to the description on Wiki venous leak is explained as the difficulty maintaining erections without constant manual stimulation, loss of penile length and girth, and a soft glans of the penis during erection that is not fully engorged (also known as cold glans syndrome).

This is precisely my problem, which is why I am so worried.

It looks like it says soft glans, and your penis is smaller because it does not get fully engorged.  That means you do NOT get strong erections.  Those are all just indicators of failure to ever get strong erections.
