Should Xiaflex shot be this painful?

I got two shots of (in 2 separate days) Xiaflex and the pain during the shots was unbearable. I was screaming bloody murder. I could never imagine pain like this in my life. Is this normal?   If I have to do the second sets, I'm not sure I'll be able to tolerate it. I can deal with pain, but this is something out of nightmares.

They always gave me 2 injections for pain blocking with a much smaller needle first. Then after 10 minutes or soo came in with  the big needle for the Xiaflex. I assume it is really dependent on your doctor.

The second time I was there, I asked if they could numb it. The doctor said, Nah, it would be just as painful.

I have had 6 injections. Each was painful for just 5-10 seconds and then it was fine. No numbing shot either. Now the swelling that happened later, especially after my 6th shot, was a bit scary and more painful.
62YO, hourglass indent/hinging at base 30deg bend up 3cmx2cm hard plaque at dorsal base. No ED. 3 rounds Xiaflex decreased plaque/indent/hinge/bend. 1 year later, penis went from 7.5 to 5.5 in, but only 15 degree bend and no hinging.

"... not uncomfortable to receive.."   lies lies lies     >:(

Pain
Although Xiaflex is not uncomfortable to receive, some patients have significant pain for up to 48 hours after the injection, with rare patients having discomfort beyond this period. Verapamil is more painful to receive, likely due to the volume of fluid, but is not significantly painful thereafter.

I went through 6 rounds of Verapamil injections and I just had my 5th Xiaflex injection this week.  Each of the Verapamil injections was preceded by a numbing injection.  With Xiaflex, there is no such injection.  I believe the needle gauge is larger for Verapamil than it is for the Xiaflex injections.
Honestly, I though they were all pretty painless.  I would equate it to a wasp sting.

I'd  like to add that I received a numbing injection and didn't feel a thing from the Xiaflex.
One of the anaesthetics wasn't 100% effective and the Xiaflex was damn uncomfortable.
Mild bend in 2013, Stabilised at 40 degrees in 2017
6 Xiaflex shots 2020 - 2021.
Now more or less straight.

Everyone has different pain threshold. A few injections hurt a little for me, but the majority did not.  No numbing or pain killing was used on me.
Age: 65. Peyronies Disease in MAR 2019. 90 dgree upward curve.. Immediate &  severe. Xiaflex, APR 2019 to early 2021, slow but minor improvement through 2021. Incisional corporoplasty surgery completed in late 2022.

I received the penile block (lidocaine anaesthetic) and felt nothing but some pressure during injections. The evening of my second injection I had excruciating pain and massive swelling.

I have been through a full series of XIAFLEX treatments.  I found them uncomfortable, but never outright painful.  I did use a numbing cream that I got online... and whenever they administered the shots I grabbed on to something very tightly as they administered.  I would liken it to a small bee sting or less.  I think the real variable is where your plaque is located too.  They usually try to inject right into your plaque.  Mine was dorsal or on top and near the base.  Also I went to a urologist practice that specializes in Peyronie's.  The PA who gave it to me does these all day every day.  He has it down.
