ear problems with cialis
« on: March 27, 2021, 06:38:43 AM »

i was wondering if anyone here had experiences the same problems with cialis. i am taking cialis 5mg everyday before going to bed since more or less 3 years. my doctor said i would have to take it for the rest of my life. bloodflow to my penis is promoted with taking cialis but beside that i dont know what the effect would be. i have good erections without.

but now i noticed that i have ear problems and i read that there might be a connection to cialis. even people losing their sense of hearing. i am worried. and i am thinking about stopping for a while and just going with pentox.

anyone has a thought on this?

Bingo!  This is what happened with me. I was one of the "rare" cases that had SNHL in both of my ears. I was on low dose Cialis 2.5mg  and Pentoxi for peyronies. After 6 weeks I developed hearing loss, severe migraines and hyperacusis. I was devastated because I love music and  loosing my ears was awful.  I have been to several Dr's and now have an excellent brain-surgeon/ear specialist. I was having daily migraines that kept me in my bed and hearing loss accompanied with very loud tinnitus. On top of this I could not be in a room of people with regular noise. It hurt too much - I stayed in my bedroom for a long time.  I have been unable to work as a  teacher and am slowly improving - it has been about 8 months now. Dr wants me off of ALL medication. Not even Advil or Tylenol. My auditory system was damaged and the Dr speculates it could have been from the Cialis because other men have also had the same response from the drug. The Cialis and Pentoxi were both helping my peyronies though. You should be checked out by a Dr and at least have a hearing test done. You can PM me for more questions.  :) Mike

Google it - The FDA found several cases related to hearing loss/tinnitus with Viagra, and Cialis etc.... If you look onto any tinnitus forums you will see hundreds of people who associate there tinnitus/ ear disorders with taking these kind of erection drug. In the scope of the human population it is considered rare though. For those it happens to symptoms are sometimes reversible with high dosages of prednisone and cessation of the  drug. I am very slowly recovering. Mu hyperacusis is almost gone, but the ringing at times is louder than an actual person talking.

When it all it all started it was the last week of July 2020. I was feeling very tired and week. My ears seemed a little tired of just hearing any loud noises.  Then on the evening of July 31st my ears started ringing so loud accompanied with a very bad migraine. On Saturday the 1st of August I noticed that my hearing was getting bad in my right ear and then progressively bad in my left. By the following Monday things were bad and I made an appointment with our ENT, but because of Covid I couldn't get in until 2 weeks. During that time I was told to stop all of my medications per the Dr's request as this sounds like a medication reaction. I didn't realize just how sensitive our auditory system is. I did get placed on high dose prednisone for 2 weeks. Things have slowly gotten better.

i am so sorry to hear. i hope you will get better soon, mikel7.

first i noticed a sound with no source. it was like blood going pumping (bumb..bumb...bumb...) and came and it went. so i thought it might be blood pressure or stress or something, but it will pass. but than i noticed that my hearing became very sensitive for loud noises. so loudness became a problem. if a loud noise was happening, i would also hear a second louder noise in my ear/head. which was very very annoing. i stopped cialis. now it seems to be better. but i am not sure. after all it could have been stress or high blood pressure, but i do not want to lose my hearing. i lost so much already :,-( since i stopped cialis pain in my penis came back. not sure what to do know..... maybe just do pentox 1200mg a day??

have you looked into L-Citrulline? Should have beneficial blood flow effects. I might replace one with the other after I finish the tablets i have

If you could do pentoxi I believe it would help you. When I stopped taking everything I focused on eliminating anything I thought would cause inflammation in my body. I went on a gluten free diet. I added vitamin E 400 IU a day. I added Boswellia and Acetyl Carnitine. I also exercise 5 days a week walking and light weightlifting. I drink about 8 glasses of water a day.  I also use heat therapy along with PMP traction 6 hours a day. I try to avoid stress and only have gentle sex about once every week (which ain't easy). My peyronies is definitely not getting worse and the pain has come down considerably. Actually today the 27th is my one year anniversary when I noticed the first start of pain accompanied with a lump in my penis. I keep a daily journal because of my hormone therapy and I marked it down last year when it began. You should try whatever works, but only try things one at a time. Otherwise you wont know for sure if something is helping you or not. I assume that you have Dr that you are working with? If not that should be on your list.

I was unaware of this before seeing this post. I’m worried now as I’ve been taking 5m daily for about 7 weeks now. How rare is hearing loss? I can’t afford to lose anymore than I already have. But tadalafil is the only thing that has helped so far.

I have no idea about percentages. All Erectile Dysfunction drugs, Viagra, Cialis etc... have this warning inside about the "potential risk for sudden hearing loss". It was noted that before Viagra even was released that during their clinical trials there were men who experienced this, but it was a rare occurrence. I'm sure money plays a role in this. I would not worry yourself over it. They just have to report of any side effects associated with the drug.

Or since you seem to indicate you got tinnitus prior to Cialis maybe it is just naturally advancing with age which is fairly typical.

Because "A" proceeded "B" does not mean "A" caused "B".

hi hawk

i know my ears very well (because of the music aspect) and i can tell when something strange is going on. the ringing has been increasing almost exponentially over the last few weeks, and my exposure to loud music has been minimal compared to other times of my life.

you are right however, and i read these effects can be temporary so will quit with the tadalafil for a bit and see if there is any improvement or difference.

Hi all,

I've been on Pentox and Vit E for nearly a month now. I started Tadalafil (2.5 daily), L-Arginine, AL-Carnitine, and CO Q-10 about 10 days ago. 2 days ago I noticed a high pitch steady sound. I am on vacation and actually thought it was in our hotel room at first. Turns out, it is just quiet enough that I hear it more clearly in our room. Regular noise from outside will mostly drown it out. Anyway, I started looking into it and found, of everything I'm taking, Tadalafil is the likely culprit. In fact, it seems like many of other drugs/supplements may actually benefit tinnitus in general. This is disappointing as I felt the Tadalafil was helping my Peyronies. Definitely more NTE and morning erections.

I'm not sure what to do. I could live with this sound if I knew it was temporary but any permanency or worse, actual hearing loss, would not be acceptable. Last night was my first missed dose of Tadalafil. I think I'm going to stop and see what happens with the Tinnitus. Bummer.  :(

You are exactly where I was . You could stop and see if it actually was the tadalafil or not. It is early for you so you may have a reversal of symptoms. I definitely know that Cialis was helping my peyronies. You have to decide for yourself if it is something you want to wager?   I have been on white noise sound therapy for 5 months trying to have my brain adapt to it.   It does seem to be working it just takes time.

i wonder if l-citrulline has the same effect? i suspect the whole thing might be caused from pressure differences due to the drug. maybe a reduction of cialis frequency (2.5 mg every few days rather than daily) might help as well

anyhow my ears are way too important for me, so i'd rather wait it out and see the effects of traction!

I was also taking L-Citruline when my ears went haywire.  I have read a few articles where Dr's theorize that the tiny capillaries are somehow deprived of oxygen rich blood for a few seconds causing damage to the inner ear.  I don't know if it is related to nitric oxide or something else.  At this point it is enough to know  that I can't use that anymore for whatever reason.  I know it is mentally rewarding to find out exactly what causes this or that - then we can move forward with a battle plan. :)

yeah! the worsening seems to have stopped all of a sudden. i used to hear the usual pops and ringing i would get after gigs when you start loosing frequencies but extremely often (once a day over the week or so). that has stopped since i stopped taking cialis. i'll see if i the tinnitus subsides then i might consider re-introducing a low dose but not daily. maybe every couple of days is a bit more sustainable.
otherwise i am thinking of trying a moderate dose l-citrulline for blood flow.

I would think it is related to the Cialis :(  L-Citruline might be a better option at this point.

I also reduced the use of cialis. I always had some degree of tinnitus, but it also got worse lately (cialis? stress? maybe/no idea). So I reduced to 2 or 3x a week now.

I am taking L-Arginine, 1g.

Do you guys recommend Citrulline instead? and/or ALC?

L- Arginine is not easily absorbed in the body due to the first pass through the liver. L -Citruline is a better option because of its easy conversion into L-Arginine in the body. I would also take ALCAR . Stress is known to elevate tinnitus . You have to find out what is causing your tinitus. It is true that as we get older our hearing tends to fade.

mine was initially caused by loud music and gigs, that's for sure.

i was taking L -Citruline, but i changed to L-Arginine as i got teeth stains. maybe i'll try again L -Citruline (1g) together with ALCAR (1g) as I am reducing cialis for now

i went on tinnitus forums, and there are loads of experiences of people having increased tinnitus with cialis or viagra. i think it's definitely something people should be more aware of before getting into this medicine. it's usually listed as one of the last side effects so you dont really pay attention to it!

It's interesting that something reported as very rare is showing up more and more. I guess for the percentage of the males tested that this is still a rare occurrence. It's a shame because cialis works like a charm for me.

i am experimenting here
decided to reduce cialis 2.5mg from daily use to once every four or five days. also cut coffee cups (2 to 1)
ear ringing got better, but everytime i have cialis it somewhat returns
i guess it is really a side effect.
unfortunately

Coffee, stimulants and excess salt can make tinnitus worse along with stress. It's a bummer that Cialis does this to you.  I know for me that it was halting the peyronies in its tracks.

what about L-Citrulline? i read on a tinnitus forum about someone complaining about it getting worse after this supplement. i assume the issue might be blood circulation/differences in pressure in the inner ear

I developed tinnitus after I started shaving in the shower.

I am not trying to be a smartass.  But trying to connect the thousands of things or combinations of things we do with some change that might occur in our bodies is much closer to superstition, not science. We rub a lucky charm so something good will happen.

Always remember that because "A" precedes "B" does NOT mean "A" caused "B".

we are not assuming causal antecedence here, hawk. at best, a correlation.

as i said, i cut cialis and things got better. it it because of that? maybe not. maybe yes.

i plan to continue using it

i guess it is still worthy talking and discussing.

https://www.tinnitustalk.com/search/5499375/?q=cialis&o=relevance

mine has subsided a fair bit since i stopped taking it as well... if i'm not mistaken i have also seen some studies linking the two

I stopped taking cialis, but I still have hearing problems. I assume now that those two are not connected for me. But I also realized that pain resolved for now. So I will not continue taking cialis. I have not problem with erections. And I do not want to take it for the rest of my life...

That's great pauli!  You should at least have your hearing evaluated to see where you are at.  I know that you can get a free one at Costco.

I've noticed that my tinnitus got way worse in the last few days. It's been the same for 10+ years and it's the first time I hear it that much. I've been taking Cialis approximately 2 times per week since the beginning of the year. How can we be sure Cialis is causing or worsening the tinnitus? "Only" hearing loss has been reported as a rare side effect (which I don't have – confirmed by an audiologist). I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this.

If you don't have hearing loss that is great!  Tinnitus could just be related to normal aging for you.  You could try and stop the Cialis and see how your ears respond. Other than that it is difficult to tell.   was one of the "rare" individuals that was affected with this.  My hyperacusis is lessening and the tinnitus varies depending on severla factors - excess salt and caffeine aggravate it.

Hi, i'm an old member but i forgot my account and i usually check the forums from time to time just to see if theres anything new regarding new treatments.

I realized for some time that people without erectile dysfunction are posting about taking daily tadalafil here.

I want to be clear that i'm not saying this is the case to anyone here, its just that i feel this is an appropriate post so i will just leave a warning here.

Thing is, in my country (Brazil) theres sort of a fever now (and for some time already) that guys are taking daily tadalafil as a pre gym thing to pump it up before the workout.

This guys from a local podcast discuss it, one of them cites that he posted at his site at least 5 articles stating that daily tadalafil causes erectile dysfunction by cavernous tissue remodeling in otherwise healthy men, if you understand portuguese you can watch it; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFqHr26JUj0

The commentaries are full of people saying that they got f* up by taking daily tadalafil too with the most bizarre symptons one could imagine, like brain problems, seizures, momentary loss of movement of hands and feet and whatnots.

This drug is supposed to be used as a erectile dysfunction treatment. Its not something one should take daily. Also, i may be wrong but its half-life is supposed to be 36 hours or somethings. So if one is taking it daily, its probably overdosing it anyways.

Anyhow, here goes the warning. You guys take care what you put inside your bodies... specially in a daily basis. And dont trust no one, specially in the internet (me included). Do your researches.

i found out that the noises in my ears are very likely to be related to a tension in the neck and in my case there is probably no connection to tadalafil. probably i was just so afraid of the idea that i should take this drug forever and so i reinterpreted these symptoms as side effects. it wouldn't be the first time this happened to me. I hope not to have unsettled too many affected people here. however, tadalafil can cause ear problems.
