I think I have Peyronies - please help
« on: March 27, 2021, 06:10:07 AM »

Hi everyone, I had literally never heard of this disease before a few months ago. So, here’s my situation - I am 50 years old and an insulin controlled diabetic (type 1). I have a very nice active sex life with my wife and about 2 months ago, I noticed that my penis had a curve it it - about an inch before the head, it was curving upwards. I have always had a slight upward curve across my fully erect penis, but this was another curve just on the last couple of inches. I have a fairly thick girth, but a pretty average length (always wanted a few inches more as a younger man, but hey ho, we use what we are given). But now, there is a noticeable loss in length since there is a pretty severe curve on the last few inches. This makes penetration difficult when on top, but ok when doggy (when I can see what I am doing)....

I am really worried and don’t know what to do. Can anybody please help, I don’t want the curvature getting worse. Me and the Mrs are still having sex and she is very supportive of the situation. If I think back a few months earlier, I do remember a bit of a trauma - I deliberately attempted to come out and go back in whilst having sex doggy style, but missed and I wasn’t fully hard - the end of my penis bent upwards. It hurt a little at the time, but we carried on having sex and thought nothing more of it. To be honest, having had sex with my wife 1000’s of times, this must have happened numerous times before.

There are no noticeable lumps or bumps anywhere. There is no loss of girth either. I don’t have any pain at all, but interestingly get an erection most nights, at various times throughout the night - maybe my subconscious mind on this topic?

Any help would be appreciated. This is clearly a worrying time. Thanks.

Thanks. I have read all of that. Going to speak to my GP next week and try to get an appointment with a urologist. I have ordered high dose vitamin E too. Should I refrain from sex? I obviously don’t want to make the situation worse. Is there anything I can do to help correct the bend in the meantime? Massaging etc etc

Welcome, OMGPleaseno.

I have lots of help, including great members like Mike.

I have an assignment for you, OMGP.  Please read this and fill out your signature line. ---->https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,10819.0.html

If you studied the content of the link, Mike provided you know exactly what you can immediately start doing and in what order.  As we mentioned in that guide, this is a marathon, not a sprint.

YOu can investigate  Traction, VED's Warmth on the forum.  The most critical thing (also mentioned in the guide) is not to get a urology appointment but to get one with a urologist who has some expertise with Peyronies Disease. Otherwise, the appointment will be more of a disappointment than a help.

My first appointment with my urologist was worthless and cost me a 375.00 mistake - I learned the hard way.

I have a Bupa private insurance and am in the process of arranging a consultation with a consultant urologist who has ‘Peyronies Disease’ listed within his ‘clinical interests’. Is there any advice anybody can give me on if this is the right thing to do please?

Thank you, but I thought this was a forum where posters can interact with posters? Your survival guide covers pretty much everything there is to cover, but I could quite easily be lost in the multiple links and get very confused.....

So, I ask the urologist for pentox if a diagnosis is confirmed? Is that an American drug or available in the UK too?

Oh, VED, do I need to go off on a tangent to find information on that too? Sorry, but for somebody who feels pretty low after experiencing a potentially life changing condition, who has reached out for some help and support, you really haven’t helped! “Read the survival guide”.....

OMG,

I sense frustration and a bit of striking out at us in your last post.  I understand the frustration with this disease, but such psychological behavior will hurt you far more than Peyronies Disease.  My suggestion is that you read the resources at the top of the Psychological Aspects board.  It is self-defeating to strike out at those here or in your personal life who are your best asset.

The very reason for the Survival Guide is so those of us who have a solution to our Peyronies Disease / Erectile Dysfunction don't have to spend 10 hours of our lives every day typing the same response over and over to 20,000 men.  That is the same reason we post publically, so you can search and read similar questions and answers that have already been posted; otherwise, we would handle questions by private message or email as though the forum did not exist.  We would start over new, from nothing, with each of the 10 individuals who join every day.

The survival guide tells you exactly what to expect and request from a good Urologist with Peyronies Disease experience. You need to read it two or three times and possibly print it off. If you have some aspect of that you need expanded information about, my Six-thousand posts will show my willingness to take time answering questions and helping.

Finally, yes, I could have retyped the Survival Guide's answers in the time I have taken from my family to respond to you.  That, however, was not what you need.

It has been no bother at all.  We are here to help you as we do with several thousand others.  We supply each other with facts and support each other with what we need to hear.  Sometimes that is a little different than what we want to hear, but we all deeply appreciate it.  I am sure you will too when you think about it.

All topics remain here so we can learn from each other's questions and answers.  That's how forums work.

OK, I understand, thank you.

I have read the survival guide again, will take the food based nutriments and go armed to the Urologist with the Pentox studies, should the diagnosis be confirmed.

I notice that Vitamin E isn’t listed within the survival guide, yet many members of the forum take it. I am currently taking a fairly high daily dose of this - would you advise that as pointless? Or, it can’t do any harm taking it with the cocktail of other tablets I will soon be taking?

OMGPleaseNo,

Vitamin E has zero studies confirming its benefit.  There is at least one study that indicates it does nothing. It used to be what urologists recommended when they had nothing else to tell patients.  There certainly is no data to suggest it is harmful. It is cheap enough, so many men throw it in the mix just in case it does some good.  Some men give anecdotal accounts that they think it helped them.  If you have some, I would take it.  Otherwise, I would not worry about it.  Some say (without evidence) that mixed tocopherols Vitamin E is better than just Gamma.

Mixed tocopherols are a mixture of alpha-tocopherol, beta-tocopherol, gamma-tocopherol, and delta-tocopherol, which are all-natural forms of Vitamin E. Tocopherols do differ very slightly in chemical structure but are essentially the same.
