Plication vs implant

Hi all

I had my last visit with my urologist a few weeks back, it was my first visit to him, and he said looking at the pics I showed him I have made good progress over the last month or so.

He left it that I would have a follow up in 8-10 weeks time and if there wasn't much of a change we could look at the Nesbit proceedure.

Having already lost a fair bit of size I am reluctant to lose more, but more so, being a type one diabetic I am very aware that I will suffer from some form of ED as I get older. I would say I have mild to medium ED at present, primarily venous leakage and a 35-40 degree dorsal bend.

My thinking is, what is the point of plication if my ED will progressively worsen, should I instead be discounting this form of treatment and go direct for an implant?

I am also aware that as a diabetic I am much more susceptible to infection, but I guess this is the case with either surgery.

Thanks

This is a very good question to be asking jimmy !  Most of us are in the same boat as you including myself. Do I want to lose more length, I might get natural Ed in the future since I'm hypertensive. Interesting to see people's opinion. Thanks for posting.

If I were in my 20's or 30's with unstoppable erections AND had the size to spare, I would consider a plication surgery with a top surgeon.  No doctor should touch your dick who does not do at least 100 to that specific surgery per year with great patient satisfaction.

The complicated part of this is I have met few men who thought they had "size to spare". I was awake during my implant surgery, and Dr. Eid announced to his operating room staff, "we have a very interesting case here.  After searching the world over, I finally found a man who would like me to make his penis just a little bit smaller."   ;D  I assured him he needed to keep searching.

However, some men in a stable relationship with above-average size are willing to surrender some size for a straighter penis.  If you can't use it, it does not matter what size it is.  If I could have 25 years of sex with plication then get an implant, it would be worth it if I was on the high end of average size or above.  If, however, I thought I was going to need an implant within 5 years, I would go straight to an implant, spare myself one surgery, and salvage my size."  Even if you get an implant 12 years before you need it you will probably need one more revision but you will spare yourself one plication surgery and some size.

I admit, it is not an easy decision in your twenties.  Who knows, in 15 years they might have better implants or other solutions.
