I've been blaming myself for being too sexually active and potentially causing the problem myself. But the more I look into it it's not our sex lives that caused this, it's bad luck that caused this. Don't get me wrong might some people have had blunt trauma that sparked this or severe bending during sex sure. But even then it's still bad  luck

People literally snap their dicks in the Middle East and "Severe, acute trauma of penile fracture and moderate, chronic buckling injury of taqaandan are not associated with later development of Peyronies Disease. These findings question whether the hypothesis that trauma, trauma-induced smoldering inflammatory cascade and aberrant wound healing are the main causes of Peyronies Disease. "

it is human nature to take responsibility of bad things that happen.
In the past, if a storm would come out, people would think they angered the gods and it was their fault.
Rape victim and abuse victim almost always feel like it was their fault all along.
In the same way, having something like this happen that changes the way you look at sex for the rest of your life is massive so it's understandable that we feel as if we brought it onto ourselves. But as many specialists told me indeed the way peyronie's delevops isn't understood and it seems like there is a big genetic factor.
So ye getting rid of the guilt is an important step to process any kind of grief

I couldn't agree more, I was also shocked when I saw that same study you mentioned. It's my theory that it's a mix of a bunch of crap, that triggers some odd form of wound healing. If you really do research on inflammation, you will find it's not so cut and dry as it's made to be in many studies or articles. Don't beat yourself up dude. In my opinion stress and emotions play a big role, so take care of those. Listen to what dr Levine tells you if it makes sense, follow a treatment protocol and roll with it
Penis injury in late 2017. A lump formed at injury site that caused no deformity, just pain and a palpable lump. Pain is improving through proper rest and use, diet, and mindfulness. I am always learning and looking to share things that have helped.

The worst part of the disorder is knowing that it is self-inflicted through risky practices.

My relationship came to an end when my girlfriend left me for my friend, and I was so distraught I masturbated multiple times in a row as a sort of comfort, I wasn't thinking straight as I was so upset.

Now I have full blown peyronies disease as well as losing the girl I love.

If it wasn't my fault I could accept it, but I blame myself and that's what kills me.

I would give anything to be able to go back in time and change what has happened.

I don't think most of us can target when or why we developed Peyronie's.  I am finding most men don't recall a trauma, and I certainly do not.  The truth is we think of penises as these super strong organs and they are in that they take a lot of abuse and spring back.  We just all have some weird propensity and developed plaque in a place that interferes with our erections.

You can't blame yourself no matter what.  It was fated... either genetically or some sort of way.
