I am only 23 years old and I have been diagnosed with mild Peyronies Disease after ultrasound.

I've talked to a few urologists. Some told me I shouldn't take fin and others told me that it's safe with Peyronies Disease.

What do I do from here? Should I maybe try topical finasteride on my scalp just to minimize potential systemic effects?

Finasteride blocks DHT, DHT is the most important male hormone for males, the Doctors that told you that is fine they are just plain ignorant, but is up to you.
My first symptoms started early in 2019
I tried Traction device, Pentofixiline, Q10, TRT, L-Argenine, cialis
I have narrowing/dent/hinge on the left side of my shaft
My ED is getting worse
Had a PRP shot Aug 2021
I have a girlfriend
Age 46

Please DO NOT TAKE finasteride! It has very nasty side effects and most likely it will lead to ED. There are links all over the place because of this...

Graggaxy

There is no evidence that finasteride could make Peyronie's worse

A lot of people take and are ok with it.

But is it worth it? You're gonna mess with hormones and take the chance of developing post-finasteride syndrome.

Make some money, go to Turkey to travel a bit, and get a hair implant there. Much better and safer option. And you're gonna love that place.

Please do not take Finasteride at any cost. I am on this forum because of it. My peyronies and curve worsened after 2 months of Finasteride use. I know what it feels like to go through hairloss at your age. Earlier hairloss forums were my obsession, now this forum is, you tell me which one is better. Just get a hair transplant/system if it comes to that, but do not take finasteride especially if you have peyronies. In mice, it was studied that finasteride reduced elasticity and encouraged fibrosis , which is exactly what peyronies is. You say you have no side effects on finasteride so far ( I did not either except less pleasurable orgasms ) , there is an underlying pathway of fibrosis that develops when you starve erectile tissue of DHT.

This life, minoxidil does increase Anagen phase and once you stop the benefit wanes, is true. I do agree that finasteride is much more effective for hair loss but with the side effect profile it is not for me. I tried topical finasteride and got the same sides. So topical finasteride is absorbed through bloodstream too. Waiting for breezula/ kintoor, next generation treatments. Till then using minoxidil, micro needling to stop and control.

sad thing is people have been waiting for the next gen hairloss drugs for 20 years now. it is very comparable to research in peyronies. nothing happens. there is no financial incentive in it(despite what people might think, many men do not treat their hair loss) and research is expensive and the condition is actually really complicated(just like fibrosis of the penis). the next gen drugs will still not be very effective. we all lived 50 years too early, in around 50-100 years scientific research will finally have progressed to the point where we can address diseases at the root and not just treat one factor of it. that will come in the form of stem cell research and genetic research. but that sadly might be a century away. at some point, nobody will ever have to go bald or have peyronies disease ever again
Very true I had this thought as well in the past. We were all born 50-100 years too early. Do you recommend finasteride in my case? I know that minoxidil alone doesn't fix the root problem..maybe I should try topical finasteride, I think naturally it must have fewer side effects. Or what about 0.5 mg oral every other day? I think there is a way to make it work even with Peyronie's

It seems you have already made up your mind. I have already given my opinion. I would recommend taking finasteride of any kind topical or not in two cases only
1) you do not have peyronies, srsly, why are you adamant in coming up in contact with that evil drug when you already have peyronies ? Are you trying to make things worse ? It definitely won't be helping you fight peyronies and I can guarantee you that it'll be making things worse. My words, might sounds harsh right now, but it is the truth that you don't want to hear. You will thank me later.
2) you have a penile implant

People on this forum and other forums have misconception about finasteride dosing. They say, if I take 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg finasteride or in topical form , I'll get less sides..wrong! Look at the dosing curve and you'll see that almost 70 percent dht is inhibited even for less doses. In short wether you take 1 mg or 5 mg or 0.5 mg , you are definitely blocking more than 50 percent of your dht that your penis needs !

Gaussrifle is 100% accurate, Fin is a drug that affects male hormones, the only ones that disagree are the "Doctors" that make profit from it and obviously the manufacturer. If you go any testosterone replacement therapy site, there are plenty of guys that ended up taking Testosterone because of finasterrade side-effects

This_life, I'm been on the TRT site for 2 years now, there are a lot of men that end up there because of Finasteride side effects, and you said that DHT is not important for libido and erections? Well, DHT is the main male hormone for libido and erections alongside testosterone. And sorry if I had grammatical errors, English is not my native language.

I agree that bud luck called out dht as most important. I think he meant most important androgen after testosterone. However, as I have said before it is clearly not a conspiracy that finasteride can worsen erections and cause fibrosis. I am sorry, that is not up for debate. Even the hair clinics I spoke to who sell prp injections and all were upfront about this. I did experience sides from personal experience, I had much less pleasurable orgasms along with weaker erections. It sort of felt numb. After that in the following months I developed peyronies, that is why I'm here on this forum. This life, stop disregarding people who are giving actual opinion. I a, not 100 percent saying, that you will get sides, but let me tell you getting sides on finasteride is not as rare as you think or how the statistics are made up. With peyronies, taking finasteride is like playing Russian roulette with a revolver loaded with all but one chamber.

a small percentage (around 5-10%) get worsened Erectile Dysfunction and libido lowering
I don't know if these numbers are correct, but assuming it is, this is enough to stay away from finasteride or other drugs that inhibit 5 Alpha-reductase.

If you have Peyronie, you want to maximize the blood flow into your penis, not the contrary. This is one of the reasons pde5 inhibitors, like tadalafil, are prescribed to Peyronie patients.

how does finasteride stop blood flow to the penis??
Directly, it does not stop blood flow to the penis.
It reduces some of the most important male hormones, DHT, and reduces significantly sex drive. So it lowers the number of erections you have along your day (and even NTE).

Some men are more affected than others, of course. If you take finasteride and feel no reduction in the number of erections and libido, then you're lucky and may take the drug without problems.

How science can explain  the large group of men that got screwed up because of Finasteride? I trusted the guys that got ED because of Finasteride, not "science" articles

I don't know how you're trying to fit this study in the conversation. And it's n=20, not so reliable.

Really, stop being stubborn. Just google "5-alpha reductase inhibitors and erectile dysfunction" or something like that, and you're gonna find a ton of studies proving the relationship between this kind of drug and a lower erectile function. I'm not saying it will for sure make you limp.
It has a great chance of causing decreased libido, consequently a lower number of erections, and this is, consequently, not good for a patient that has Peyronie.

"randomized controlled studies report the rates of erectile dysfunction to be between 0.8%–15.8%." lol. A wide gap, for sure.

Again: if you take finasteride and think it's fine for you, then keep it. It's your choice.

I think finasteride can be safe if taken at low doses like 0.5 mg EOD and daily Tadalafil 5mg. What do you guys think?

Just take it, you may have side effects, you may not, is up to you. Nothing is 100% safe, and definitely not a medication that blocks DHT, DHT is the most important androgen for a man's libido and strong erections

hahah Now this was funny. Unfortunately people have a hard time believing evidence and disregard it, when they really want to do something... In this case, to him it's more important to have hair than to have a functional penis. Go figure!

Of course it's not the best thing to block DHT but I think I could get a significant amount of QoL back if I start finasteride

Then take it. I know two guys that are taking Finasteride for years and they keep their hair, however, the both told me that their libido is not as strong, neither their erections. One told me that he prefers to have hair than strong erections. In the meantime, the manufacturer of Finasteride and the "Doctors" that prescribed said that is totally safe, and all the cases is due to "other reasons"

What about saw palmetto instead of finas?
Obviously for hair loss will not be as effective but, in terms of safety for peyronies?

I've read saw palmetto would be like the natural finas.
