I had my surgery last week to implant a AMS CX to join my already implanted AUS 800. Had the AUS implanted in 2018. Because of the AUS my surgeon chose to implant the CX. I did ask about the Titan and though he said they are very good he was concerned with them because some of them develop dog ears at the base that could cause irritation and erosion to the cuff on the AUS. I also asked about the LGX, but because of the AUS he felt it best to implant the CX.
So far the recovery is going well, the  pain hasn't been to bad so far. The main problem besides the swelling and bruising is with the new location of the AUS Pump. Where it was previous at the top right in the scrotum it has now shifted to the lower right due to swelling and and the CX surgery. Because of this  it's been tough and painful at times to locate and press the pump to piss. My next follow up with the doc is in 2 weeks. Hopefully the swelling will subside by then and the AUS pump can move back to where it was. Looking more forward to the checkup in 4 weeks when if the swelling is down the CX will be activated!

I haven't seen any other comments from anyone else on this site that have both implants so if there is anyone out there, hopefully not, thinking about having both and have questions let me know.

POST OP WEEK 5—things had been going well with my recovery until my visit with my surgeon yesterday to activate my implant at the 5 week mark. Once the CX was activated I was happy to see that the Peyronies bend that I had at the left side base of  my penis was gone and both sides had inflated, but the head did not harden and just droops and remains soft. They tried deactivating and reactivating a few times with the same results My surgeon now thinks I'll need to have a plication at the base of the head to give it support when the implant is activated. Needless to say I'm pissed and looking to see if anyone else has run into this. In the meantime they'll ve advised to activate/deactivate 2-3 times a day and leave it activated at least 10 minutes each time with the hope that things improve. My feeling is that they either measured the implant wrong or it's defective.

Tshug,  I am so sorry for your disappointment during activation.

I strongly suspect that the implant was undersized.

Undersizing gives the penis a look sometimes referred to as a Concord after the aircraft https://xplanereviews.com/uploads/monthly_2016_10/57f5e0ba280d6_Concorde_NY4.jpg.68fb6c39a4384415346c5068a57d8c7c.jpg

When you inflate, even deflated, you should feel the tips of the cylinders going about 1/3 of the depth into the glans. This gives the glans support. If they do not I would be very cautious about letting this doctor do another surgical procedure.  I have never known anyone who had an implant by a great implant surgeon needing plication surgery whether they had complete ED or 180-degree bend.

If you are up to spending the $300 I would have a video consult with Dr. Eid and ask him if you can inflate during the video conference and ask his opinion.

Hawk you're 100% correct! Sadly the  Concorde  is exactly what it looks like. I will look into consulting with Dr Eid. Do you know of any other Dr's in the Boston area. I'm very hesitant to have my current surgeon do any more surgery on me.

I would have to guess there are 1 or 2 other very good doctors within a 100 mile radius of Boston somewhere but they are not known to this forum.  Are you considering picking another unknown factor in place of a certain factor?

I will be blunt here.  It at least appears that you already gambled on a doctor who was an unknown and you lost that gamble.  You have one Dick.  It is broken.  What did you save by not going to a known good doctor?  What are you willing to risk the next time?

If your implant does not solidly reach as far as 1/3 of the way into the glans, then you were given an undersized implant.  If that happened you need to know that there is not a chance that could have happened with Dr. Eid.

If your insurance and/or your finances allow. get this done right and put it behind you.  So far you have the poor distinction of being the first man on this forum with a bad outcome on an implant.  I remember being nervous when you settled on an unknown surgeon with little to go on but it was clear your mind was made up so I did not want to interfere and cause doubts.  I hoped somehow you would win the luck of the draw.  Let's discuss this and not make this mistake twice because this is not as bad as it can get.  Surgeons have been known to destroy penises.
Dr. Eid does NOTHING but penises AND 90%of what he does is penile surgery AND 90% of his surgeries are implants.  No one in the world has done more.  He does between 5 - 10 a week.  No one should allow a surgeon to operate on their penis unless they know that doctor does at least 100 of those specific surgeries a year, preferably 200.

1. is the tip of your cylinders into the glans?
2. If not, where do they end?
3. Do you think you can have intercourse as things are?
4. do you have insurance or other sound financial means to see a GREAT surgeon?

If you have not done so PLEASE read this.  If you find another surgeon, make sure you use this to guide your decision. https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php?topic=10810.msg100840#msg100840

Hawk I appreciate your bluntness...I know you've recommended Dr Eid to everyone and me as well on this forum and it's appreciated. I did search this area for the best penile surgeon and thought I had him due to his experience, I was told he does hundreds a year . Also he was referred by the surgeon who did my prostatectomy at Mass General Hospital and is one of the best surgeons for that in the country. Unfortunately penile implants are not his expertise so he referred me to the surgeon who did my implant.

I checked with my insurance company today and Dr Eid is not covered by it. I called Dr Eid's office, but they're not open today. I'll try him again on Monday for a consult.

The answer to your questions are,

1. I can't feel the tips in the glans.
2. The right side cylinder tip is at the bottom edge of the glans.  The left side cylinder tip is lower.
3. As far as intercourse we haven't tried yet. I've been cycling the implant daily and will try having intercourse to see what happens.
4. I have insurance and other financial means and will search for the best locally before going forward with another surgery.

I do not recall if you had total Erectile Dysfunction.  If not, there is some hope that you would gorge with blood in your Glans and spongiosium and be fine.

Frankly,  I am only a fan of 2 implant models.
1. Titan - for rigidity, straightening, and girth and for all penises over 6 3/4"
2. LGX - for a softer flaccid, for penises under 6 3/4" L and 5 1/2" girth with an only mild deformity - since the LGX expands in length is is more forgiving of a mis-sizing.

I actually prefer the Titan for almost all situations.

Who is your surgeon?

IF you have occasion to speak to your surgeon, I would boldly ask why the cylinders do not extend into the glans since every other man with an implant on this forum does.  I would also ask how many cylinders he took into the OR.

Do you know if there was a company rep in the OR?

This annoys me to no end.
Also, call Dr. Eid's office to make sure about your insurance.  I thought mine did not cover him, but it did, AND medicare covers him, and you must have that.

I talked to Dr Eid's office today and have a video consultation with him scheduled for 2/4. I also talked with my insurance company and was able to change my plan from an HMO to a PPO and with that I'll be covered when seeing Dr Eid. I'm looking forward to talking to him and hearing what the next steps will be.

As for my ED it wasn't total and the glans did partially gorge but didn't last long.

My surgeon was Dr Nehra and there wasn't a rep in the OR during the operation. I did meet the rep last week during my follow up with the Dr. The rep didn't have much to say about the glans just flopping down now other than to keep activating the pump a couple of times a day. While I was activated the Dr kept pulling on the glans and told everyone that the tips were in the glans and put a sharpie mark where they're supposed to be, but I didn't feel them then and still don't.

I'll let you know what Dr Eid recommends. Needless to say I didn't expect this outcome, but hopefully if I need another implant it will be done right this time.

Had my virtual appointment with Dr Eid today and he confirmed that my penile implant was undersized. The good news is that it can be corrected. The bad news is that I'll need another surgery around April to remove the CX and replace it with the Coloplast. What was surprising was that he has his patients start pumping 3 days after surgery. My previous surgeon waited 5 weeks after surgery before pumping and Dr Eid said that gives the penis to much time to heal before inflating causing the penis to be smaller when the implant is activated.

As had been mentioned on this forum in the past Dr Eid is very knowledgeable, explains everything, and is easy to talk to. To late now, but I wish I had chosen Dr Eid in the beginning and my 2nd surgery could have been avoided.

We all have regrets.  I regret putting off an implant for over a decade because I had the wrong impression of what the outcome would be like.  When you get to have sex as early as 3 weeks after surgery, you will soon stop worrying about the regret of choosing your first surgeon.  One advantage of the forum is that we can learn from others' experiences, and others can learn from us.

I would at least consider action against your surgeon to compensate for needing a new surgery.

PS: are you able to have intercourse as things are right now?

I'm not sure if any action can be taken against the surgeon. I have already reached out to the hospitals patient advocate group and they were going to investigate and get back to me.

As for intercourse yes we are able to have intercourse as things are now, but with the size difference my wife is not enjoying it as much. Hopefully Dr Eid will be able to correct the drooping glans with the new replacement and things will return to normal.

I had my appointment with Dr Eid at his office last week. I found him to be very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. As he had suspected from my virtual meeting with him prior to this appt he feels that my implant was sized wrong. The good news is he feels he can correct it by replacing the CX with a Coloplast Titan. The bad news is that I need another surgery to correct it. I had the surgery scheduled for 4/13, but had to cancel it because of other things going on. I will have it done later this year. I asked him if there was anything from the CX that could be used with the Titan, but he said it wasn't compatible. Hopefully I can put this behind me soon!

While I was there I also told Dr Eid that this forum always speaks highly of him and that it is thankful for the times he has responded to questions concerning our problems.

That was so nice of you to tell that to him about the forum. I hope he appreciated it. The parts are definitely not compatible and i haven't read anywhere online doctors having mix and matched components from both manufacturers so i agree with that..... And even if that was to be possible, probably warranty and insurance issues? who knows...

Tshug,  I wish you well and hope you keep us updated.

Would you say your current implant is better than before the implant or are the physical and psychological aspects of it such that it is of no benefit at all to you?

I can assure you that you just could not be in better hands. He and his staff will be there for every question or concern before and long after surgery.

Well, that is a big positive.  At least you can use it.

I truly hope you will keep in touch and do a journal that chronicles your journey including your unsatisfactory implant experience. You can be the voice to instruct men on possible pitfalls and how to correct them and move on.
