Prolonged fasting vs many short fasts /diet

Any idea on whether its better to do 1 long fast once in a while or many short fasts repeatedly?
Im on day 24 of water fasting and my libido has plummeted drastically on day 17, makes me wonder maybe 5 days fasts with erections are better than long fasts with poor erections?

Also, any opinions on the idea that the body needs to burn most of its fat first in order to start burning protein for energy and subsequently eat away at scar tissue?

I found this chart, but i dont know how reliable it is
https://healthunlocked.com/fasting-and-furious/posts/141598929/dr-mindy-pelzs-fasting-benefits-chart

Are we looking to achieve autophagy and growth hormones,  or stem cells?
If its both seems like 4-5 days fasting are superior to a prolong fast

You went 24 days without food? If so, that's amazing!

I think that it can absolutely be overkill though. For example, studies on wound healing showed a sweet spot of one or two days of fasting followed by refeed had the best wound healing, while longer fasts showed worse wound healing. Overall, I think a consistent low insulin environment is key, while longer fasts may not necessarily be helpful long term. A couple days a week or maybe a five day fast a month.

I still notice major benefits in how my penis looks and feels at 23h fasts every day or so or 42 every week. I certainly may notice more benefits if I prolonged it though.

How have your symptoms been?

Asphyxia

Thanks for the response, my pain got worse during the fast but im in very early stages, no change in curvature, from what ive read you seem to be right, im better off doing repeated short fasts.
How are you able to maintain your weight eating once a day? Do you overeat or just focus on eating very caloric dense high fat foods like pork and macadamia nuts?

Ive just introduced myself yesterday if you are interested in the whole story
(Would appreciate if you could provide your knowledge on that post too)

I can't see any connection between fasting and Peyroines.

I can't say I eat that many calories, and yes I eat mostly meat, veggies, and fat. If you can't digest meat, I'm sure you will be fine avoiding it if you supplement b vitamins, DHA, etc. How long did you try keto by the way? Most of my calories comes from fat and protein, and I generally just eat until I'm no longer hungry.

Asphyxia

Ive tried keto multiple times in the past and when i didnt have any food intolerance it was great and i dropped a lot of weight,
The Last time i tried my stomach was already messed up and was rejecting everything almost.
Stopped after 1 or 2 weeks, ive no problem with being fat adapted(i think), only with digesting.
Just now im breaking The fast and we'll see if the fast atleast helped with the food intolerances
I suspect i have what is called leaky gut syndrome.

Maybe i should start looking into immunosuppressant medication but i dont know.
Also i used to have fat/oil in my stools, been tested for pancreas issues, ultrasound showed it might be a cyst , then MRI showed nothing.
These last few months before the penis injury i aet simple junk food and felt much better
(Low fiber easy to digest things like pasta, white bread)
Overall i had much easier time with carbs than fats digestions wise, but now im
In a place where i dont know if i can choose carbs anymore.

Btw does it make sense to go back to eating junk food/carbs again after the dissease stabilized
Or will it be lurking in the shadows waiting to flare up again?

Breaking the fast with bone broths(collagen) makes me wonder if its good or bad for peyronies.
Im planning to try either a keto diet
or a carnivore diet but with supplements and teas(do you think its a bad idea?)
As for keto, some things i contemplate like eating cheese, its one of the few things that i can digest and feel fine but its known to be inflammatory(i know fermented cheeses are much less inflammatory but still.)

By the way to anyone struggling with digestion you can ferment your food to add probiotics to it, not only vegetables, look up coconut kefir(if you have something called sibo then it might not be a good idea.)

Been doing intermittent fasting for about half a year, did prolonged fasting too. It didn%u2019t work for me. Not better than just eating healthy whenever the heck I am hungry. I still skip meals ocassionally so you could call that fasting, but since eating based on if I actually wanna eat something or not, having only protein rich food in the house and working out a lot lifting and playing basketball I am now stronger and leaner than I felt when fasting. Especially prolonged fasting will impact your strength A LOT especially if you go past 24h. Made me nauseaus, tired and cranky as well. You could try it, but I doubt it will cure peyronies unless being extremely overweight is the core problem of your penile issues which it isn%u2019t for most of us here. Of course you want to optimize your body to promote healing, but no way are you gonna cure yourself just by don fasting. I don%u2019t really mind you guys trying, I just hope none of you wil get the idea that you%u2019ll be healed if you just fast enough. I can see how this mindset can drive someone desperate into starving themselves, so take it with a grain of salt and don%u2019t beat yourself up over something as normal as well... just eating troughout the day. Unless you already have diabetes or whatever a spike in insulin from eating won%u2019t cause your penis to die and autophagy during ketosis won%u2019t regenerate it either. If it works for you that%u2019s fine and watching your diet is always a good thing for overall health, but imo fasting is overrated and just one very trendy way of consuming food that probably isn%u2019t that much betted than other diet. Keto as well. UNLESS you have some very specific health issues that being in ketosis actually helps with like epilepsy. But for me personally I can now say withcertainty that fasting however strictly, prolonged, not eatig carbs even during my feeding window, sticking with it for months, that it doesn%u2019t make a difference in me at all and I actually feel way better and less stressed eating %u201Cnormally%u201D again.

Overweight is not a prerequisite of insulin resistance or any metabolic disease such as cancer or Alzheimer's.

Fasting and keto are great for heart health and was even just shown to reduce arterial thickness.

NeoV

LOL yeah of course you take statins. Do you realize how dangerous those are?

LDL is not bad, only vLDL or remnant cholesterol. You don't even know what that is. Fasting and keto reduce vLDL and raise HDL. Low LDL is not inherently good and is even related to higher mortality and dementia. You know nothing about this because you don't care and you don't read.

To be fair, everybody's body is different, im having hard time digesting fats as ive mentioned so a im thinking maybe a diet with low glycemic index carbs(carbs that arent raising insulin levels too much) would be better for me, but i do feel better on simple carbs so idk, fasting certainly can be dangerous, right now im having hard time breaking the fast, im throwing up and im feeling half dead, considering getting an IV but we'll see
But as for short fasts i wouldnt be too worried about it for a generally healthy person who knows what he is doing.

I'm with asphyxia. I started kept 5 months ago. Went all in. 0 carbs. Not even fruits. I began with the regular fatigue and diarrhea. I thought it would blow over but months after months I started withering away. I went from 150 to 135. And at 5'7 that's a huge difference. Especially that I'm very active at the gym and try to maintain a healthy muscle build. To it's credit during that time my penis felt phenomenal. I almost forgot that I even had Peyronies. Erections were filling up quick and girth increased. I went to my family doc and he was blown away by my physical state. He immediately told me to incorporate at least minimal types of complex carbs because I was looking and feeling unhealthy. Recently I started incorporating some healthy carbs such as quinoa and the fatigue is gone. I'm back to 147 and surprisingly my turds are solid for the first time since like June. It's a cat and mouse game here fellas. Unfortunately you have to pick your battle. My fast metabolism didn't allow me to do keto because it was like throwing gas in a fire when it came to my stomach. I ate. 20 minutes late I was hungry. And constantly tired. We're all different in biology and unfortunately what works for one will not work for another.

When I got back on initially there was minor aches because of the shock to the body of going back on carbs. Although I mildly went back on. Didn't just stuff my face with a pizza. Penis doesn't feel as loose and soft as it did on keto but I have to either chose that or being constantly fatigued and running the risk of running my business to the ground because I can't get out of my office chair. And I work a physical job. I literally got winded after 3 minutes of work. Had to sit down, and take a break. BUT all Neos'methods off YouTube are helping me. Traction is working miracles and I got a ved pump. My night time routine is warm up a rice sock, watch a show with the sock on my dick. Go and use lube to do traction for about 10 minutes. And while everything is stretched, warm and loose I do VED and that expands everything. I wake up and do it again before work. I wish I can completely commit to everything including diet but I physically can't do keto. It's extremely healthy. I'm talking quinoa salmon and steamed vegetables. Or grilled chicken or steak. Also gym every single day. With emphasis on my pelvic floor making sure it's relaxed. Great excercises for that that dead lifts and squats

Getting back to a healthy diet is essential, but how do you know that any diet, no matter how off-the-wall had a thing to do with your Peyroines? That's like saying ,,I tool a sugar pill and my Peyroines got better, therefore the sugar pill did it." I've never heard of any relationship between any diet and Peyroines- be it good or bad. And change in Peyroines and diet, in my opinion is purely coincidental.

Jan, I experiment with my diet and see what constitutes to changes in my Peyronies. I make adjustments and see how my penis reacts. If you do everything the same in your daily routine and let's say remove a certain food group and wake up the next day with an improved more loose penis, I attribute it to the change. Diet as much as people do not want to hear it, is very essential to this. When I drink alcohol for example, my hangover is always accompanied by a penis that feels like crap

D1990m, that's great news you sound like you're doing well with diet, exercise, and heat! I get numerous emails and some YouTube comments from other guys stating very similar things as you. Fasting for me and a lot of us clearly makes the penis more elastic, but yes there is likely a limit to how long you should do it.

I highly recommend a 36 to 48h fast with heat during the fasted state to increase autophagy along with traction. Then, break your fast with some protein such as fish in order to repair (do not eat too much).

Even one single 36+h fast makes my erections and penis much healthier in the following week or longer.

There was just a study this year showing fasting, compared to any other diet, was associated with better erectile health. Yes it's just epidemiology.....but it's still a start. Honestly I'm quite sure it has more to do with the diets of men who can afford organic and are educated enough to fast and do other things.

Great find Neo, and too few studies on diet as there is no drug to sell.  Very interesting correlation of signif lower Erectile Dysfunction for both organic diet and intermittent fasting.

Anyone tried a carnivore diet but with supplements, ginger, turmeric root, garlic, wasabi etc? Or maybe teas?
Powerful anti-inflammatories but a true carnivore diet is 0 carbs 0 fiber
And im guessing theres some harmony happening in your stomach once that happens
And foods other than meat might disturb it.
Also theres the the problem of mixing alkaline and acidic foods which i dont know how real it is.

Not sure if i should start a new post for such questions.
Might do that

I've done carnivore off and on this year sometimes for several months only eating beef butter and eggs. At that time I was taking pycnogenol. The diet felt great and although I love it, it flared up my neuropathy due to gluconeogenesis (or so it seems) severely. Lean meats such as chicken or tuna in excess can spike blood sugar easily despite what carnivores like to say. So, I personally think therapeutic (high fat, moderate or low protein) is the ideal diet for a disease that appears to have some relationship with glucose, insulin, and mitochondrial dysfunction. I certainly think its a healthy diet though as long as you try to get some organ meats in. I still eat a lot of meat but I am just a bit more careful.

Thought id share on what was my mistake during my 24 days water fast so that others can avoid it.
I did the water fast with electrolytes for the most part , much less towards the end as it was making me sick just to taste it
Up until day 17 i was feeling obviously not so well but fine, still had my erections, had 2 wet dreams in that duration, i dont know when it was but i had the idea of trying to watch some porn just to get blood flowing in there while im fasting, that was a bad idea.
I was extremely determined to either let my body eat itself until it eats the scar tissue(not sure if thats possible) or die of starvation as i really didnt care to die and still don't, but at day 17 this became a nightmare in a matter of hours, every part of my brain was telling me to eat asap and i was resisting it and conversing with myself till i feel asleep  scared that i might forget what is at stake if i stop.
Days 17-24 this continued, i was extremely foggy , i felt like im on an alcohol overdose , mind is full of demons
Horrifying nightmares that mix with reality because reality feels foggy in itself
Had to sleep with my head up because this was the worst nausea in my life
The pain in my penis was the worst ever , no erections whatsoever
Overall, up until day 17 this was no big deal and it felt like other fasts I've done.

The point is, i should've ended it when my body was completely begging me to
And u should probably too.

Broke the fast with bone broth ,felt terrible, threw up, passed out , continued with vegetable juices, passed out again, and again
Next day went to the hospital and got an IV, blood tests were fine
After that, juices for a day were fine and broths after that.

Developed inflamed gums as i didnt brush my teeths for fear of swallowing trace amounts of tooth paste and breaking the fast. Its being taken care of.

Desperation can make me do the craziest things, like believing the urologist when he says its nothing.

There is no indication that such long-term obsessive fasting is positive for Peyronies Disease.  Not brushing your teeth because you were afraid you could not do it without breaking your fast indicates an unhealthy mental and emotional state.  Such a degree of obsessive/compulsive behavior needs professional treatment.

I was also hoping it would solve my digestive issues by giving my stomach a rest and thereby help with peyronies,
Im intolerant to most foods and get bad reactions from them, and my dick feels it.
Been struggling with digestion for years and sometimes ,i feel better without food than with food, atleast on the first week or two, thats how bad the reactions are, gastrologists and doctors in general dont tend to go the extra mile or even try to solve the source of problems, only treat symptoms, so i try to treat myself the only way i know how to, ive tried to do many things before, many diets, supplements, breathing and relaxation methods, short fasts,
didnt just wake up one day and decide not to eat for a month and not to brush my teeth, its out of desperation after trying everything possible and failing repeatedly.

Heres an update on results of the 24 days water fast(mostly digestive benfits),also im taking many supplements now so it could be the result of supplementing.: so far it seems like im able to do keto without passing out 15minutes after finishing a meal, as opposed to what it was like before.
energy levels are way higher, i used to have difficulties even walking. A week after finishing the fast i got emotional just from realizing how much fatigue and brain fog i was in for years(althought sporadically i was feeling good, but i keep forgetting what feeling good is like because of the fluctuations),and as i started adding more foods to my menu , i mustve had intolerance  to something and i felt like a zombie again, fasted again subsequently for 4 days and now trying to add things back in again,

I can tolerate fishes now which i lost the ability to digest about a year ago, still constantly bloated, still experiencing nausea and acid reflux but i went from pooping every 3-7 days to 1-3 times a day,

Penis is less painful now and curving less, but the curve came back when i aet whatever i have intolerance to and some days it curves more than others(am i the only one?) So basically the curve is the same it seems.
Hopefully i can detect my intolerances and cut them from my diet, or else il be back to square one.

So as i've mentioned, i couldnt break the fast and had to get an IV, they also checked my blood, and what happened is they couldnt get the blood out as it was too thick and probably viscous so they had to use a syringe, anyone knows why that is? Im guessing no matter how much i drank and supplemented with minerals, my body remained dehydrated, maybe my body is having hard time with fasting but this gives me an idea for my next fasts which will probably not exceed 5 days.

IV assisted fasting, keep the blood thin(i think) and keep you with minerals and hydrated, not sure if minerals is the only thing in that IV, and if it isnt, would it break the fast? I think only digestion breaks a fast but im not sure.
Those nurses at the hospital told me il be monitored for eating disorders henceforth lol, who cares

Why are you doing these extremes fasts man. Do one for 48 hours and it will do just as much as those insane week long ones. If not more. Remember that everything in moderation. Including traction VED and diet. There comes a point where the cure becomes worse than the problem

I believe there are benefits, although not as great as a few days fast you can do it daily , i believe the fasting benfits start only  after about 12 hours and the longer the fast the more benfits, unless its too long like 4days + or if you arent used to metabolizing fats as the primary source of fuel.
you could do some days 16h and some days more like 18h, or OMAD thats just my opinion, also i believe most of the benefits are with lowering ibflammation, not with lowering the scar tissue, i dont even know if the body can replace scar tissue with healthy tissue or if the only solution with this dissease is to stretch the scar tissue with traction while controlling inflammation, but i dont know, as i have read posts of people fixing the curve by fasting for few days if i remember correctly

You typically lose lots of electrolytes during the first 3 days, im not sure on the effect of that on erections, but it cant be good,
And even though the body adjust the electrolytes secretion, erections dont seem to improve, thats one of the reasons why i mentioned the idea of IV during a fast too.

Mr man

I fast daytime for Ramadan. It's dry fasting. Usually have 2 meals a day. Big one in the evening. A small one early morning. Then no food or drink for 12 hours + in-between. After 1 month consistent fasting. There was no change to peyronie's.
Latest routine. Started l-lysine 3mg daily, l-proline 5mg daily. Increased vit c intake. Accompanied with almost daily vacuum therapy. Pumping to 100% Exercise caution! Made good progress. L arginine supplements and prescribed potaba are helping.
