Hello everyone,
I just joined a couple of days ago and probably like most new posters have been wondering how to make a first post about this, well, sensitive subject. While I realize this is a club no one asked to join, I am grateful you all are here and hope that I can contribute here in some way along this terrible but important journey.

--

Age?
I am in my late twenties, so relatively young.

--

What are your symptoms?
As of this writing, I have noticeable plaque formation on both lateral sides of my penis, although it is more prominent on the right side than the left, and there is a slight lean to the right and up (when sitting).

When I masturbate and for a couple of hours afterwards, I will have noticeable pain and discomfort in the shaft around where the plaque area is. This pain is hard to describe, it's not exactly like the soreness you might get just by being too rough. It feels almost like an "itchy", "dry" pain. Maybe I am overthinking it, but it feels exactly like you would stereotypically expect something to be forming and hardening in there.
Needless to say I have not masturbated since finding this out.

--

How long have you had symptoms?
I have actually had had what was in retrospect small but noticeable plaque on my penis for about the last couple of years or so. At the time, I was pretty ignorant in a lot of ways and thought nothing of it, since the plaque did not hurt, cause any indentations/bending, and did not interfere with my sex life in any way. If anything it added some extra girth to my shaft (yes, feel free to shake your head, I know I am doing that right now as well).

However, the actual worrisome symptoms started about a couple of months ago, when I started experiencing pain after masturbation. I don't know if it was due to a particularly vigorous or rough session since I would like to say I have masturbated pretty much the same way (albeit poorly and roughly) since my teenage years. I scheduled an appointment with a urologist in my employee health plan (not an easy task with that pesky covid running around) and was told there was some plaque but to wait and see since it didn't seem serious. Now of course, I know "wait and see" is not ideal advice for this kind of thing. Yeah, I am still shaking my head too.

It was recently a couple of days ago, however, that the pain started increasing in intensity and I first started noticing a noticeable new formation of plaque to the right that wasn't there before, along with a noticeable curve to the right. Now to be fair, it looks like the curve is "only" about 10-15 degrees or so, but it scared the HELL out of me to go from zero to non-zero seemingly overnight, and I now know that these kinds of things are more likely to get worse than better.

Currently, since I have stopped masturbating, the pain has levelled off, although there is a kind of background "aching" constantly that wasn't there before. I am still able to get erections although it seems as though they are less intense and "pinched" due to the curve (I would say varies from 70-90% intensity), and it seems that maintaining the erections is now more difficult. Additionally there is some low-level discomfort during and after erections, although not as much as masturbating. Having said that I would say there is definitely a ton of psychological anxiety as well. Although I am fairly sure I could masturbate right now if I used a lot of lube and was very gentle, I am also terrified doing thist will aggravate the bend even more.

What did your medical doctor conclude?
Partially answered above. For what it is worth, I do have a follow up appointment with him next week and I plan to grill him about what my options are. Despite the whole wait and see business above, he did mention that he has seen severe cases of Peyronie's in the past, so I will not give up on him yet (also draconian healthcare network issues, geographic location, and that darn covid are making it difficult for me to find alternatives right now.) I have read through the survival guide Hawk posted and all of it seems very compelling. I plan to bring up getting a ultrasound, pentox/arginine, and traction at minimum.

--

What treatments have you tried and what were the results?
It's only been a couple of days so far since I just noticed the exponential developments, so the main thing I've been doing is reading. Lots and lots of reading. And also watching youtube videos (I know Neov/Neoman is a user here- I have seen your videos man, thank you for providing this resource.)

I have started cutting down on carbs, more vegetables, and trying to do a bit more exercise- while I am not obese or overweight, I was definitely backsliding during quarantine which I'm sure helped none of this in the least. Of course this has only been for a couple of days so obviously nothing has come of this, but I hope to continue this going forward. I am also looking into traction machines and have heard very good things about RestoreX.

--

Do you have insurance or means to get medical treatment?
See above. Note that I am single, have no dependents, and while i am not rich I do have some emergency savings that I am willing to use if need be. But obviously I want to keep my options as open as possible.

--

where are you in dealing with the psychological aspects of Peyronies Disease?
Vacillating between attempted stoicism and moments of panic. I've read elsewhere that Peyronie's is more common in older men but is more psychologically devastating for younger men. I have no idea if this is true- I would imagine that older men are not thrilled about having this either and that it would be miserable at any age. But I will admit that this is definitely an emotional roller coaster, and while the polite logical part of me is saying "there are lots of people that have much worse physical handicaps and still have fulfilling lives" (which is true), the rest of me is screaming "Sure, I know this kind of thing happens, but couldn't I have gotten at least another couple of decades?"
Of course, I know that line of thinking has the potential to spiral into some really ugly cycles. But logic only goes so far.

--

Are you in a relationship?
No.

--

I did mention stoicism above, so here's a quote that has been relevant to me as of late:
"You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end —which you can never afford to lose — with the discipline
to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be." -James Stockdale
This is coming from someone who was interrogated and tortured as a military prisoner of war in Vietnam for multiple years, so I try to keep things in perspective. But at the end of the day, I'm not a soldier or a hero; I'm just a guy with a problem. And sometimes it definitely feels like it.

Thanks all for reading. Please feel free to hit me with any 2x4s about anything I should know, anything I should ask, any info I can provide. Feels like I have been drinking from a fire hose over the past 48 hours.

You're in your late 20s but were in the Vietnam war? Maybe i misunderstood the quote.
I'm in my mid 30s so i can somewhat relate on getting this young.

I think i would ask Doctor for:
* 5mg daily Cialis (taken at night before bed)
* 400mg Pentox 3x/day (after each meal)
* 3,000mg L-Citruline (in the mornings)
* 15 days Meloxicam (anti-inflammatory)

An ultrasound would also be helpful to know where exactly the scars are. You don't want to confuse them with enlarged veins.
If you want to maximize your therapy you can get a RestoreX and a Somaerect.
Make sure you start light with traction and never pump past 60, follow the board's VED protocol. For RestoreX make sure you follow their protocol.

You could also get the Andropenis, this would be with very low tension and to make sure the scar heals correctly. You could substitute this with manual light traction where you pull straight out.

Certainly watch your diet to stop the inflammation. If you still have inflammation, i'd focus on that first before starting traction or ved. You don't want to create more trauma and inflammation when you start traction and VED. So fixing the diet ASAP is critical so that the inflammatory phase passes quickly.

Make sure you take advantage of the anti-inflammatory and i would not masturbate or have sex during the inflammatory period. If you do masturbate, use it as therapy to make sure the pentox gets to your penis. Use a lot of lube and only the head. That is, use the erections to make sure the scars heal better and to deliver the medication to the penis. Not really about having pleasure.

If you have a good PPO insurance you can try to schedule with a top urologist such as Dr. Levine or Dr. Eid. Make sure you have good preliminary work with your primary urologist first.

Good luck.

Started RestoreX and VED 2 months after injury.
Taking 10mg daily cialis, pentox, coq10, vit-e.

Thanks Luis, very much appreciated.
Hopefully doctor will be open to prescribing these things.
Is Cialis helpful for those who don't have erectile dysfunction?

Unfortunately I have KP which is not known for being widely taken outside of the west coast. I am currently located in the New Jersey area if that helps. (used to be in the DC area until recently, hence the KP)

And yeah, James Stockdale was in the Vietnam War, not me.  ;D

I too was confused that you were a POW in Vietnam  :)

I would like to start by welcoming you.  I hope you find the information and support you need.  I also want to commend you on the using the format that is almost always missed or ignored. You provided an organized wealth of information to base our responses on.

I will be brief because I want to first make sure you have read the post at this link at least twice.  It is packed with solid foundational information https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3180.0.html

Thank you Hawk. Grateful to have found this place and for the welcome.
I reread the survival guide again, it is truly a helpful resource. I will add requesting a blood panel to the list of things to bring up with the doctor.
I am also looking up supplement sources online, reading journals...Probably not healthy to have my mind occupied 24/7 with this, but I am not perfect by any means.
Feels like I have cycled through all the five stages of grief 100x in the last couple of days, but I imagine very few people would be able to deal with this with 100% calm 24/7 if it happened to them as well.

Yes, low dose nightly generic cialis can help remodel plaque to healthy tissue. ESP in combo w other treatment approaches.

Yes Cialis is very important. I would even exaggerate my ED symptoms a bit to get it prescribed.

It essentially does two things: promotes good blood flow to the penis which helps with wound healing, and provides internal traction by making sure you get constant nighttime and daytime erections. This makes sure the scars don't heal in a contracted way.

Same with l-citruline.

Just be careful that a single erection does not last more than 3 hours and get some sudafed in case of priapism emergency.

Tristan,

There are things one can do to greatly help in dealing with the psychological aspects of Peyronies Disease.  In fact, the psychological aspects are likely the one is that we have total control and responsibility over.

For a discussion on those things see the "Dealing with the Psychological Aspects of Peyronies Disease board near the bottom of the forum.
