Im trying to make the statistics of surgeries in this forum, and i jst realized that are so less reports of classic plication than orhers. But a quick google search shows that classic plication (no excision, no removing of neurovascular bundle, just sutures to hold the penis straight) is safer than others, can not cause Erectile Dysfunction, and the main/only only problems are length loss (inevitable) and permanent sutures.

Plication seems to be the less invasive of all options. And outcomes looks great, but It has permanent sutures. It looks like classic plication has 0 chances of Erectile Dysfunction, but length loss is significant. Some studies about outcomes from this procedure are being made since the 90's, and most of them related higher success rates and much less postop problems for classic plication when comparing to nesbit and grafting.

In this forum, is easy to notice how nesbit [email protected] people lives. And STAGE has contradictory outcomes. And yes, i did understand that the most important part is the surgeon skills/experience, but why so few classic plication surgeries in this forum?

It is difficult to answer your question. Not everyone finds this forum and not everyone shares or posts their individual story. Their could be many positive cases of "classic plication", and we just don't know about them. You are correct in that plication is the least invasive of surgical procedures. With incision/excision and grafting  is most invasive. There are positive cases of these surgeries as well including mine. Mine was even I would say high risk for Erectile Dysfunction because the plaque was on top (dorsal) where the nerve bundle lays. I had a very positive outcome but also had one of the best surgeons in the U.S. for this.

Dr Gelman does plication with absorbable sutures. He has 100% success rate and significant part of the surgeries he makes is redo. I asked him about the statistics and from his database - he has no patient who needs further surgery after the surgery he performed.



That is impressive as redo-cases (repair other surgeons crap work) are more complicate to perform.

I would be very cautious of any doc that reports a 100% success rate-I think this is pretty unheard of in any area of medicine.

You will not find any negative review and opinion about bad surgery outcome with dr Gelman in the Internet. And it is pretty unheard too because you can find negative opinion of bad outcomes (in general) very often.

I'm a surgery candidate and have completed examination and consultation appointments with Dr. Gelman in Irvine, CA.  He told me something that helped put my mind at ease.  He said, "You don't have to have this surgery. The situation is not life threatening. You can decide to do it later or not at all." 

About 10 years prior I had severe neck disk herniation.  I was a puddle of pain.  The #5 spinal surgeon in US said to me, "Your condition is severe. But, I am not going to operate. Medical studies show you will be better off in 5 years if you resolve this with physical therapy and a few other non-invasive things than if I operate on you." 

Point of telling these stories is it is easier to trust a surgeon that doesn't encourage you to get surgery when you don't need it.

I had classic plication a few years ago.

Lost an inch, gained girth. Can STILL feel the sutures to this day. Longer recovery than usual. Pretty painful actually. Insisted on an incision vs degloving. Not sure if I’d do it over again or not. Having a new wee wee at near middle age is/was fun, but I could have just lived with the old one as well. Unless you have length to spare I wouldn’t go this route. I’ve never tried anything to recover lost length so I don’t know how that works. Luckily I’m still considered “large” and don’t really care.

I just saw this post and read that some guy is claiming that Gelman has a 100% success rate when recently I received the following email from Dr. Gelman ( see attached)

Definitely weird... knowing that the person claiming this had to have 2 surgeries by Gelman....

We are still waiting for an update from 2 guys on the forum who had their surgery by Gelman recently
