If I understand correctly are they saying anyone with peyronie's is becoming some sort of genetic mutant? If so, I didn't need to know this.

Many conditions have a genetic predisposition w environmental factors.

Sorry. I had a link when I originally posted this. Must have not copied it here by mistake. I can't find it now.

yeah, it would probably be only suggesting that Peyronies Disease is predisposed by genetic faults , maybe inherited mostly but maybe not exclusively.
it comes from ideas about cancer , you originally lack, or acquire a lack of, a "backup" gene from the other parent so when the sole gene gets randomly damaged , chaos ensues.

Please find the study, otherwise this thread should really just be deleted.
This is an emotionally destructive condition, we all have it, let's be nice to each other.

I think a very healthy person without genetic predisposition can get peyronies.
Just have an injury to the penis and then bad blood flow oxygen etc. to it and voila..

Skunk, I don't recall but it was probably this paper:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10953165/

And here is the definition of LOH:

"Loss of Heterozygosity. Loss of heterozygosity is defined as the loss of one parent's contribution to the cell and can be caused by deletion, gene conversion, mitotic recombination, or loss of a chromosome."

Unlikely but possible real for a low % of cases..

they didn't say what the normal /control rates would be ( no control) which might have been of interest. Then again I believe it's no controversy that there is a genetic component.  The study seems kind of pointless.

Anyone with a considerable injury or trapped inflammation in the penis can get peyronies or peyronies symptoms rather easily.

have you got data on it. it might well be the case, not disputing.  the study is showing a link to genetics but not arguing against nongenetic causes.  should be part of sex ed if verifiable.

No, just based on logic. Any injury can result in faulty collagenous tissue(scars, fibroids). Everyone can develop scars.
Rarely injuries heal perfectly like before.
If you have a scar in your penis the chances are high you get peyronies symptoms. Faulty non elastic tissue in the penis means impaired erection.

Not saying there can't be a genetic predisposition.. Or co-factors like diabetes surely make it easier for any penis injury to heal badly.
I feel like sometimes we search for complicated reasons and miracle treatments while it's rather head on what's going on with Peyronies Disease..?
